Could Stephen Amell be Green Arrow in a 'Justice League' Movie? [Updated]

According to a website, the possibility exists However, the actor has responded and says it's definitely not true.

There were some rumors about Arrow's Stephen Amell potentially appearing as Green Arrow on the big screen, but it's easy to shrug them off because TV and movies tend to be totally different continuity (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aside, of course). However, while chatting with Fandango, the actor says he's had "discussions" about it.

"'All we have to do for something like that to happen, or even be a possibility, is continue to take care of business with our show and then we put ourselves in a position – but the important thing is our show,' he says, revealing that there definitely have been talks at a studio level. 'I have had discussions, but I think the gestation process for this project is a lot slower than most people think. I mean, they haven't even shot the next one. They haven't even shot a frame of the movie before the movie everyone thinks is the Justice League movie!'"

There's obviously no guarantee it'll happen, but it looks like the option is still there. Viners, would you want to see Arrow become a part of DC's new cinematic universe?

UPDATE

Stephen Amell has responded to the Fandango article via facebook. Basically, he says he hasn't had "studio level" discussions.

When I do press, I try and be open, honest and thoughtful. That being said... I find it incredibly discouraging to see a headline like the ones I've been seeing this morning. Headlines that aren't just a stretch, they're totally fabricated. At no point, have I had "studio level" discussions about any feature films at Warner Bros.

In this particular instance, when I read articles that take a pretty straightforward answer and slap a title on it that has little to no correlation to what I've actually said, it makes it seem as though I'm disrespecting my current position. Which is bullshit. And why would I do that? I mean... I'm not the smartest dude in the world. (After all... I picked a career in acting.) But would I really just casually subvert a process cloaked in secrecy? A process - by the way - being run by the company who currently employs me. C'MON!

We're making a kick ass show. We will continue to make a kick ass show. And I will continue to interact and provide interesting content for our fans. Because I love our fans. If every once and a while, some dickweed wants to pull a headline out of thin air to generate page views, then that's the price we pay

Most definitely!!

I don't think Arrow should be in JL, space is limited. They should do a JLA film with him.

Make it so!!!

Edited by Casval

Uh please, don't do that.

Edited by IDontLikeBirds

I rather they don't use him just because it would get confusing when casting The Flash if they don't use the same guy from the show.

This reminds me I have to watch the show.

Edited by Gide0n

I would love this. But, I think it would be effective even to just have Bruce Wayne talk to Oliver Queen in a business meeting or something. Even a handshake or one line exchange would go very far. Doesn't have to be full-blown Green Arrow in the Justice League.

Edited by dreamfall31

Not a fan of the direction DC's movie universe is taking since MoS, so I hope they don't ruin Arrow by including him in this universe I don't like.

Edited by Saren

Paaaaasss. Amell's acting is fine for a CW show, but leave him out of the movies. It's not like Green Arrow is that vital to the Justice League either.

It would be folly for Warner Bros. NOT to leverage Stephen Amell's presence. That said this is the DC Universe as constructed by David Goyer( a pulp fanboy) and Zack Synder, so the odds aren't that good. Arrow works because it puts character at the forefront, the opposite of what SHIELD and MoS have done.

I think intergrating Arrow into the MoS universe isn't that hard or a big deal, they're already asethtic and tonal cousins. One just realizes that it's gritty camp and the other desperatly wants you to think it isn't.

Agreed.

It's about as likely as Welling being the choice for MoS was..

I hope not. He's not the kind of actor I'd like in a big blockbuster movie. Also, Green Arrow doesn't belong in a foundational Justice League.

How dare you! jk.

I think Amell actually has gotten better as the show has gone on. I think he does an excellent job of portraying Oliver Queen. I don't think he would be a problem if he were put in a JL movie. My concern is they would have to make him older. As with seen with Agents of Shield-being tied into the same universe can be a huge disadvantage. When the stakes are high, viewers may wonder why Superman or Thor isn't coming in to save the day.

I'd rather not see them connect the two universes, but if they do. Make Arrow happen before Justice League. And if they use Arrow in a JL movie, give him something to do, don't misuse him like the Avengers movie did with Hawkeye.

As long as they don't force it, I'm fine with it. As long as they can make Green Arrow work in the movie then I'd be cool with it.

Yes!!! He would be awesome, would people please stop saying it would be confusing to the audience, do people get confused when Chris Evans played as Johnny Storm and Steve Rogers? No.

Posted by spinningbirdcake

I would love to see Green Arrow in the JL, but I prefer the Geoff Johns/ Jeff Lemire GA to the Amell GA. Nothing wrong with the show, I actually quite like it, but he just isn't "devil may care" enough for me.

As long as both Universes don't bog each other down with there own continuity I don't see how it can be a bad thing. I think a darker Green Arrow would work considering I think Affleck will bring a lighter tone to the batman just to contrast Bale.

Posted by AweSam

Yeah, put the TV CW actor up on the big screen with Ben Affleck. Let him dull the action and acting down.

Posted by Ando123

that'd be definitely cool

Yeah because the CW churns out anything more than crap. This guy can't act in the big leagues.

Posted by The_Deathstroker

Stephen is a good actor, but he's not fit for the big screen.

Edited by SlamAdams

I kind of hope not. He's mostly a Batman retread (more so than usual) than the loud boisterous Ollie and stars alongside a lot of DC villains who have been stripped of their comicbookiness for the sake of grit and/or TV budget. This all works for the show (I like the show), but I think the show only works within a bubble.

Edited by PunyParker

He MUST play him!
And the fact he had discussions should make every Ollie fan excited.

Green Arrow could have a cameo role when and if the Trinity starts recruiting other members.

PLEASE MAKE HIM THE MOVIE UNIVERSE GREEN ARROW.

I'm good either way, as long as I don't have grey hair by the time that movie comes out.

Posted by The Stegman

Only if he's a different Arrow from the show. His Barry and JL's Barry could confuse people.

Posted by ThomasElliot

Why is this even a question?

Is Warner that stupid?

They already have a DC live action series on the ground running and actually garnering decent criticisms and there's a question of whether this should be a launch pad for the JL movie?

There's a question of whether any other live-action series (Constantine, Flash, Gotham) should be folded in as well and all part of the same movie-universe?

There shouldn't be a question... just make it f'n happen Warner.

Posted by mattwing87

They should totally do that issue of Green Arrow trying to join JL and they won't accept him unless he changes his name to Blue Arrow lol

Why not?

No. It has nothing to do with talent or not liking either show.

Its about handcuffing yourself continuity wise unnecessarily. Arrow all ready has its own continuity that movies shouldn't have to follow and vice versa.

Its a stupid idea.

I don't see why not, I think he does an amazing job as Ollie.

Edited by CitizenJP

Pleeeeeaaaaasssse he does such a great job on the show and you can tell he loves it and is passionate for his role. That would be really awesome to see happen.

Posted by Xwraith

As much as I love Arrow, the DCCU should have its own Oliver Queen.

I'm thinking Charlie Hunnam.

Posted by EvilPenguin543

Yes, yes, and yes. It would be crazy of DC/Warner Bros not to have a shared universe between TV and film.

Posted by SupBatz

Please no. I very much enjoy Arrow. But their Oliver Queen is NOT Green Arrow. I do not want to see this inconsistent, idiotic, and whiny version of 'Arrow' as part of the Justice League.
