Tying this in to Quitely Superman, I'd like a game based around the Bizarro invasion of earth, kind of like that one issue of All Star, where the Bizarros are turning other people in Bizarro versions of themselves. It'd be like a Superman friendly Zombie game. You could spend some time on Bizarro world and things... I'm doing a poor job of selling it, but it's neat in my brain.

EDIT: Oh, and my twitter handle is walkingcarpet. I harass you guys enough there that you should know this by now. ;)

The Superman scenerio of my dreams to have in a game would consist of the Man of Steel going up against one of his greatest foes, Captain Marvel / Shazam. In a showdown à la Alex Ross and Mark Waid's KingdomCome, Big Blue would be penned against a mind-controlled Marvel by none other than another arch nemesis, Brainiac. There's a lot of fun scenarios that could be used in putting Supes up against a familiar superhero with powers just as amazing as his own, and without a weakness to Kryptonite. All of this puts our familiar Superhero in a sticky situation, as Brainiac also has Lois Lane kidnapped as well as the Daily Planet under his control with his eyes set on Metropolis and then.. the entire world. The only one capable of preventing such an attack is none other than reporter Clark Kent as his disguise proves most useful in penetrating the quarantined Daily Planet. Could this deadly duo be what finally puts an end to the Man of Tomorrow?

Superman: The Man of Tomorrow

It is currently the year 2021. Superman has been publicly assassinated by Lex Luthor - a kryptonite bullet to the temple. Lex Luthor finds a way to spin the story to make himself the hero. The body is secreted away to a Luthor facility where Superman is unable to draw solar energy to recharge.

It is now the year 2051. Unchecked, Lex Luthor has masterminded a new scientifically motivated regime in America with him as a de facto dictator. On the surface, the citizens don't seem to mind because the economy is strong, and their personal lives are fruitful. An underground resistance is building hope, and a small band of resistance fighters (perhaps the Teen Titans late in life) somehow finds out where the body of Superman is being stored by the government and decides to recover it in hopes of motivating the people to fight back.

Successful in their mission to retrieve Superman, they soon find out that he is not dead - just considerably weakened. As he regains consciousness, he is practically powerless. As he begins a new mission to return freedom to the people of America he slowly builds back his powers as he faces off against classic foes like Metallo and Bizzaro who are now used as government super enforcers - as well as a wealth of other superheros and villains alike who have decided to support Lex Luthor for various reasons.

The story culminates with a final battle between Superman and Doomsday - Luthor's main super enforcer. However, this Doomsday has been genetically altered to allow for a higher intelligence to go with all the classic powers of the past. Will Superman be able to defeat Doomsday - or will he be a martyr for the underground resistance?

I envision this story being told in as a third person action game in a sandbox type game world that offers multiple endings based on the way you progress through the story. The powers returning would be handled in an RPG fashion where Superman could be customized for play style - i.e. melee heavy brawling from super strength, ranged attack from heat vision etc. XP would be generated through combat and completing chapters of the story.

I really like the Elseworlds thought line of comics, and think there is a ton of opportunity for them to be converted into games.

I think it would be cool if there was a Superman game based on Grant Morrison's Action Comics. Superman just arives to Metropolis and he doesn't fully have his powers yet. Every level you win, you gain more power. Since no one knows who he is or where he came from, the Government, and of course Lex Luthor, is after him. The main villian in this game would be Lex and Brainiac. While Brainiac is trying to destroy Earth (and of course gain knowledge), Lex Luthor is trying to destroy Superman. So while Superman is trying to save Earth, he also has to try and not get caught by the Governement. In the end, Lex and Brainiac join forces to destroy their enemy, Superman.

I would love a game involving Darkseid/Maxwell Lord/Dominus has brainwashed Superman against Earth and as you take each country you will fight against Superboy and Supergirl, the Justice League of America, and ultimately the Superman Revenge Squad. Eventually being freed/breaking free you have to liberate the heroes and lead an attack against the boss and his army/ an army of supervillains or an army of Superman Robots.

I would love to see a Superman/Black Adam duel. The Black Adam BEFORE Johns, Ordway and Goyer got a hold of him and changed things around. Black Adam is one of the only villains to rival Superman's God-like powers and may put up a very epic battle. The scenario would go something like SHAZAM! (previously Captain Marvel) is afflicted with some sort of comic book created disease that Black Adam sets in motion to make him a non-factor in the plot to do evil. Superman sets out to help him and along the way has to battle some of Black Adam's cohorts in order to reach Black Adam himself. An Epic battle ensues and out comes the victor! In a nutshell.....

My scenario would involve Apokolips...so my villain would definitely be Darkseid!

Apokolips is such an interesting place in the dc universe that its definitely something i would incorporate in my Superman game! Although Darkseid would be the main villain, I would also incorporate Granny Goodness and the Female Furies, Kalibak, Desaad, etc...

My dream Superman game would be a free roam game set in Metropolis. There would be a few parts of the game where the player would be Clark Kent on the street and had to find a place to change into Superman without being seen. The overall plot of the game would involve Superman stopping many of Lex's plots. Lex would finance people such as Metallo, he would clone a Bizzarro, and finally battle Superman with his power suit. The game would also have tons of cameos from the Superman universe. It would also be fun if the player could fly away from Metropolis and maybe visit the farm in Smallville to see Superboy & Ma Kent or fly all the way up to the Fortress of Solitude where the player could access a kryptonian database that would act as an encyclopedia of all things Superman

For my dream superman game it would have to be a darker game, along the lines of Batman Arkham Asylum. I don't know about having a main villain , but rather have superman encounter multiple villains throughout the story. I would be cool to include an open world where superman could fly around and help stop random crimes as side quests ( but not the focal point of the game). The game would have to include the main villains Lex Luthor, Doomsday, ect..

Darkseid creates a fake Brainiac who is sent to terrorize Metropolis. After killing thousands and destroying meaningful Metropolis landmarks Brainiac retreats into the vastness of space. Superman will not rest till he finds Brainiac and is absent from Earth for a period of months. Darkseid uses the Brainiac diversion to invade from Apokolips enslaving the city and continuing on to the rest of the world. Superman finds the false Brainiac & realizes the true Darkseid threat. This scenario allows for a variety of locations and gameplay options to be used.

Superman has been whisked into a Nether Dimension by the Blaze/Satunus war and caught in the middle between these two infernal being's battle for control of the Undeworld. With magic being used in the epic war, Superman's powers have been greatly impacted and reduced as he battles demons, monsters, fallen angels, in his struggle to free the denizens and slaves of the battle as well as escape back to Metropolis.

heres my idea for a superman comic book or video game story what if lex luthers father was a goverment scientist who made a i.g.b.m (inter galactik ballistic missle) and shot it at krypton (he saw krypton in a habitable zone through a space telascope) and supermans father jor el had a profetic dream about luthors father creating and sending the bomb to destroy krypton. so jor el thinks since luthors father is sending his most evil ,ugly and destructive creation to destroy his planet hes gana send his most beautiful creation his son kal el to earth to save our planet from evil men.

The game opens up with Atomic Skull in the center of Metropolis; Skull is attacking civilians in the hopes of getting Superman's attention, which he does. As Superman flies toward him, Skull reveals his Ace in the hole, a Rifle loaded with a Kyrptonite bullet. He misses his shot, of course, and is defeated by Superman. The rampage has left some civilians affected by radiation, once of the civilians is a rehabilitated Toyman. Toyman has a hereditary disease eating away at him and the radiation from Atomic Skull will kill him in 72 hours. He enlists the help of Lex Luthor for the recipe to the cure, bribing him the location of abandoned Kryptonite powered toy supersoldiers. Toyman then kidnaps Lois Lane and holds her as ransom; if he dies, she dies inside some elaborate toy construction. Superman agrees as he has no other way to save Lois, Toyman is left to work on his final toy in case Superman fails. Superman is forced to fight Brainiac, Bizarro, Ultraman, Metallo, and Mr. Mxyzptlk as he travels through planets and dimensions to find the ingredients to cure Toyman. Arriving back on Earth, he's attacked again by Brainiac, defeating Brainiac on top of the Daily Planet. With a mere minutes left to spare, Superman returns with the ingredients and is given the key to unlock Lois Lane. Superman races to Lois, only to have a final battle with the supersoldier army sent by Lex to kill him, while the construction is only 5-10 minutes from killing Lois. Superman succeeds and saves Lois. He returns to where he last saw Toyman only to find him collapsed near an open room. He enters the room to find a crying child. In Toyman's arms is his last toy; a Toy soldier windup doll with a note and cure in his pocket. The note states "My greatest creation, to be protected by my last." Superman gives the cure to the child and steps outside with the child and Lois, only to find with Brainiac powered Lex waiting, cue sequel.

Superman and the death of Toyman.

I'd love to see Superman battle Lex Luthor, but something along the lines of the All-Star Superman where he is really battling time itself. Superman is so powerful, few games have dealt successfully with a sense of dread when faced with villains. Instead, I think we have a sense that Superman is dying, and he must perform the 12 feats before time runs out. You can still have all the button mashing needed to feel like Superman, but open the world up a bit for a more story-centered game where you CARE that you are Superman. Mark Waid's Superman origin did a great job showing that Clark was just strong, but SMART too, and I'd love to see that at play somehow.

My dream Superman battle would be against Batman. Lex Luthor has devised a mind control devise, and he is turning all of Superman's friends against him. The battle against Batman would be unforgettable. Batman has a kryptonite ring, this ring would diminish, if not completely remove all of Superman's powers. The most interesting conflicts are the ones where the outcome is uncertain. Take away the steel from the man of steel, and let him battle it out with Batman without his super powers. The battle would take place in Superman's fortress of solitude, where he believes he is protected. In this place, his secret home, a place where he let's his guard down, Batman would attack. The fact that Batman is one of Superman's best friends would add another layer of difficulty because Superman cannot simply kill the Dark Knight, he must subdue him. Batman would have set traps throughout the fortress, kryptonite laced in every corner, each trap taking away one of Superman's famous powers, so by the time Superman meets Batman, they are on even ground. Not only does Superman have to beat Batman, he has to figure out how and why Lex Luthor is taking control of his friends. Let the battle begin.

Remember the episode "Hereafter" from the Justice League cartoon series? It is perhaps my favorite episode as well as being what I believe to be a great setting for a Superman video game. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend browsing around and giving it a watch since I'm about to drop some pseudo-spoilers of some fun little twists they pull off up in here. So I'll just throw in a line break right here before I get into the nitty-gritty.

All ready? Good. I'm mostly speaking of the second half of the episode. You know, the one that isn't about Superman being dead. As we find out, Superman wasn't actually killed by Toyman's raygun, but instead flung somewhere around 30000 years into the future. It's an apocalyptic wasteland filled with giant insects, savage beasts, and a reddened sun which completely voids Superman of any and all of his superpowers. See where I'm getting at?

The main problem with most, if not all Superman games is the limitation of his powers. How do you game over that which cannot be killed so easily? And other times it's the other way around. He's TOO strong. This scenario knocks him down a few pegs. Well... a lot of pegs actually. But he's not weak in any sense. In the episode, he relies on his own strength, wits, and intellect to survive long enough just to find out what the hell is going on. Thusly, the player will have to do the same. With various beasts and behemoths roaming the Earth, Superman must use his resources wisely to reach his destination. Of course he'll find various materials along the way, though scarce because... you know... apocalyptic wasteland.

As for the villain, I suppose you could say it's Vandal Savage, but since we could see the dude got all the crazy out of him (or at least most of the crazy) from being the last man on Earth and repenting for being the cause of this desolate future, he quickly becomes an ally. But the contest calls for a villain and when the only other person on that Earth is Superman, well........

And just as the climax episode entailed, upon braving the arduous trials of retrieving the radiated power source needed to send you back in time, you are then given access to all of Superman's powers. After grasping onto every bit for survival all throughout your playthrough, you then simply become this TANK as you stride to the endgame. I don't know about you, but I'd think that'd be pretty fun.

So yes, I just submitted a Superman game idea where for the majority of it you are not even allowed to utilize Superman's powers. BOOM.

My dream game villain would have to be Mr. Mxyzptlk. He would be an awesome boss character for a game and his reality warping abilities would create excellent unique levels. Each level could have Superman face off against the likes of Metallo (there could be a metal door over his kyptonite heart and every time he begins to attack it starts to open. When he punches, superman's life level goes down. You would have to attack him before Metallo begins to attack) , Ultraman (that would be allowed given reality warping abilities. ), Bizarro, Parasite (he drains superman's life everytime he tries hitting him), Toyman (this could be a nice flying level where the user has to shoot down toyman's plane with heat vision while trying to avoid Toyman's toys), Batman (think Dark Knight Returns), Silver Banshee, Brainac, and then finally Mr. Mxyzptlk. I imagine the final battle would have Mr. Mxyzptlk as a giant and every time you inflict damage to him you unlock a letter in his name. So, when you have all the letters in his name he will say his name backwards and thus be sent back home. I figure the main storyline would have to be that Mr. Mxyzptlk is bored so he travels to our dimension to have fun. To play with Superman, he presents challenges the form of classic superman villains. I think Mr. Mxyzptlk would be perfect for a game because he could move the battles anywhere (I bet the game designers could have fun picking settings for each level because they can go anywhere imaginable: on the moon, in the fortress of solitude, the hall of justice...anywhere!) and with those reality warping abilities he could summon up any villain for lots and lots of levels (from Darkseid to Ultra-humanite the possibilities are endless. Also, if you are limited rights wise, then you could make up alien creatures, but I think you could have more fun with familiar characters). So, that would be my dream Superman game and villain.

The big baddie would of course have to be Lex Luthor. He could be written in so many different ways, but I would have him more along the lines of his All-Star counterpart. He's smart, thinks things through, and doesn't need Superman's strength to square off against him. The game will have more of a darked tone like Arkham City, using models alike, but still be it's own thing, seperate from Batman. As Superman traveling the world, with Lex one step ahead of you and your end game is to foil Lex's attemp to once again destroy to "save" Earth.

Sups versus Cyborg Superman (yes, I realize Cyborg Superman is a villain to more than one hero). Anyway the two are faced off as somehow a mysterious third-party has uploaded Cyborg Superman with Kal El earliest Earth memories, and he is using this vulnerable data to attack the loved ones of Clark Kent's past in Smallville (potential victims would be Ma Kent, former classmates, etc). Really just an excuse to get some major explosions up in Smallville!

My dream Superman game would be set up much like the Rocksteady developed Arkham Asylum games. You need LOADS of worthy adversaries for Superman to face, not just a couple of robot goons to beat on for 4 hours. The game would have to have a way for you to experience what it's actually like to be Superman; The nearly overwhelming omniscience, super speed/flight/strength need to be conveyed more appropriatley. A "sense" of speed was always something Criterion did well with the Burnout series, and would work well in a Supes game, along with a slow-mo feature to target foes with heat vision/freeze breath whilst flying. An x-ray vision gimmick could work too, like the detective vision in Arkham Asylum.

Metallo vs. Superman

There's an expression: "Styles make fights."

Given that we've seen the Kryptonian v. Kryptonian thing a number of times, why not try to broaden the scope of Superman's combat challenges?

1) A battle against a large mecha-suit from LexCorp painted olive drab with plum highlights is both true to the comics and animated series... but also gives Superman something Hulking to fight. 2) When the criminal pilot, Corben an ex-Captain in the American military stages an elaborate escape (filled with practical special effects and traditional action sequences like chase, gunfire, explosions) he manages to evade Superman but is mortally wounded in the process requiring the aid of his sponsor. 3) Luthor, of course, is behind it all and turns Corben into Metallo and has his own stripped down and more agile, less militarized power-suit. Superman has to beat Metallo (which gives us the "versus Kryptonite" beat without the whole film being about it) with his wits and determination rather than raw power and when he wins, he completely tears Lex, the Man, from his suit of Iron, quickly and powerfully. 4) Metallo's not quite dead however, his technopathic essence transcending his corporeal form and becoming an elemental live wire, living lightning, or God of Thunder, which Superman ultimately defeats.

You get styles, you get homages, you get merchandising, you get to see how the franchise can give you more than just Kryptonians rolling around with each other in the air, and you up the scifi ante so that Superman is giving you something unique to comic book films and opens up the storytelling potential in the sequel. A big part of the "magic" of modern Superman is the science fiction aspect which the animated series captured so perfectly. If the only "magic" of Superman is Superman himself and Kryptonian elements then your storytelling potential is uncomfortably narrow.

Mongul would invade Earth while Superman is out in space (maybe New Krypton) doing something and enslaves all of the DC Heroes and different villains are working under him. The different levels would progress with Superman traveling to different cities and freeing the heroes and gaining them as potential allies to call in temporarily during combat until he eventually gets to Motropolis (Mongul's stronghold) and frees the city. Mongul makes a good villain for this story because he has the strength to take out a majority of the heroes in the DCU and has the army to back him up.

I think it'd be pretty slick to have Parasite as a boss in a Superman game. Not the traditional brawler style fight, but rather one that starts after Superman gets his power drained by Parasite. Given than most Superman games focus on having him using brawn, it'd be neat to lose that ability for a bit of time. With losing the super-strength and flight, Supes would have to combat Parasite using other devices/avenues.

My game: Superman vs Cyborg Superman

Every Superman has had one huge problem in development, he can't be beaten. Superman is almost always in god mode in these games and that needs to change. So how about you give him a villain that not only has an army of mechas and robots you can destroy, but is also extremely powerful himself?

I'd love to see an iOS game of shrunken Superman vs. Brainiac, using Kandor and other shrunken cities as a backdrop. Shrunken Superman is iOS sized! Perfection.

Oh, and I'm following those Twitter accounts; I'm @dleegrooms there. Thanks!

Brainiac.

Superman has been captured by Brainiac and is strapped into a chair with a device that puts him in a dream state. He envisions disasters happening and he is continually trying to save people. The point of this is for Superman to be mentally exhausted, so Brainiac and be free to do his scheme in the real world. The only way Superman can escape is to fight through levels, preventing disasters and at the end of them he has to successfully complete a puzzle allowing Superman to break out of his dream state little by little, until he can defeat Brainiac in the real world.

Bizarro,

Superman must battle his way through the Bizarro counter parts of the Justice League (Wonderzarro, Bizarro Flash, "the Yellow Lantern" and Batzarro) in a race to save Lois and Jimmy from Bizarro himself. In this open world 3rd person brawler, Superman must help the denizens of Bizarro world as best as he can to draw Bizarro out into the open. Side quests would be inherently wacky on Bizarro world requiring the player to constantly think outside the box.

I'd love to see an open-world game, influenced by the likes of the Spider-Man movie games and the Batman: Arkham Asylum series, that takes a big inspiration from Grant Morrison's current Action Comics arc. You start the game as a young Superman who can only leap an eighth of a mile and can barely stop a train. The game basically goes through Superman's first year in Metropolis, with the beginning of the game being about his battles against corrupt businessmen, drug dealers, and so on. You earn experience points, and as you do, you can unlock and increase powers. As your powers increase, so does the threat of the villains, as Superman works his way up from the likes of Toyman and Prankster to Lex's robot minions and Metallo. By the end of the game, you're as powerful as the Superman we all know and love - and just in time, too, as Brainiac has arrived on Earth and captured Metropolis in a bottle! I chose Brainiac as the mastermind behind it all because he's a great Superman villain that hasn't really been shown to the mainstream public in his grand glory, compared to Lex Luthor. It's revealed that Lex has been working with Brainiac for this last year and that the two are responsible for all of the villains Superman has been facing, with Brainiac doing so because he knows that the last Kryptonian can stop him. In a whirlwind final battle that takes place across our Solar System, Superman defeats Brainiac and restores Metropolis, while Lex slips into the shadows, already preparing his next test for the Man of Steel - Project: Bizarro.

My game would have Lex Luthor (of course) as the main villain. It would very loosely follow the plot of All-Star Superman, with Lex tricking Superman into a slow death via overexposure to the Sun's radiation. However, for the purposes of the game, the main focus of the game would be on defeating a number of enemies from Superman's rogues gallery (Toyman, Metallo, Bizarro, Braniac, Mxyzptlk, Parasite, Doomsday, Darkseid, Braniac, etc) in succession until the final bosses of Solaris and then Lex. Each part of the game would consist of a story arc surrounding one of the villains, and the gameplay would consist of smaller quests that advance the story until you reach the boss. In each level, the story/gameplay would be heavily influenced by each villain, so for example, the part with Mr. Mxyzptlk might consist of several minigames and the part with Parasite might be a timed fight before he steals all of your powers. The twist in the game would be that as the game progresses, Superman grows weaker due to his impending death and loses one of his powers. The final two bosses would return to the All-Star Superman story with Superman first having to fight off Solaris and then returning to Earth to fight a temporarily superpowered Lex. Superman would be powerless in the fight against Lex, with only a gravity gun to use against him. Once Lex has been depowered and defeated, Superman would start to glow and you would have to watch him say goodbye to Lois before regaining control to fly him into the Sun and save the day for the last time.

To keep it at least somewhat original and refreshing, I'd have a game where there is not exactly ONE single villain in the main focus. It would be about a day in the life of Superman. So maybe we start off softly with Brainiac. Make it a basic level with random Superman clone robots to fight, and end it off with a Brainiac boss battle with multiple stages. I think it would be cool to have a timer, and if you don't beat him in that certain amount of time, the Earth is heavily damaged, whereas beating him quickly results in a hardly wounded Earth at all.

Maybe throw in some Lobo in there, where it turns from a fighting game into you chasing him through an asteroid field as you try to catch up with him. The time limit persists here as well. You will need to be quick to pass through the asteroid field, as every hit you take slows you down, which will make time drain faster than usual as you try to catch Lobo. If you are fast enough, it turns into a boss fight where you must fight him as usual, but if not, you will not fight him as he escapes.

Then we follow it up with Lex Luthor. Maybe place this somewhere in Smallville. Lex Luthor is conducting experiments on the people in Smallville. This one combines the themes of the first two stages as you race to certain predetermined points on the map. The faster you get there, the less enemies you have to fight, and therefore the quicker you can get to the next one. Once you finish up fighting all of the enemies, you will have the location of Lex Luthor himself. As approach him, he is decked out in his own kryptonite powered armor. You at this point need to evade his attacks and keep him off balance until you can catch him off guard and start attacking him. You need to be quick as the Kryptonite will start to drain your health, on top of the damage his attacks do. When you do enough damage, you will have to do this QTE type touch-based button pressing puzzle where, the faster you are, the more damage you do to his armor. If you do enough, it will fall off and he will be there without it.

Once the battle ends, he will attempt to pull out some sort of kryptonite object(Ring, for instance) and so again, you attempt to do the QTE button prompts, if you are quick enough, you can lay him out. If not, he stuns you and gets away.

The point behind time management is based on the idea that, no matter how fast Superman can be, sometimes it's not fast enough.

Conceptually, I think it's pretty tight and sends a really interesting message about the character.

To keep the game original, I'd have Superman face Mr. Mxyzptlk. Mxyzptlk is an incredibly fun and unique character which would be great for the game, since he could provide unique challenges and his powers are almost limitless. I'd have him make Lois and Jimmy disappear as part of his "game" with Superman. As fodder enemies, you could use a wide array of strange things summoned by Mxyzptlk (like mini Supermen, candy brought to life, airplanes with his face on them, and the list goes on). Since he's also an imp, he could have some funny 4th wall breaking moments. As the final battle, I'd have Mxyzptlk have the Daily Planet grow arms and legs and fight Superman. As Superman defeats the building, Mxyzptlk will throw a fit because Superman completed his challenges so easily, and return Jimmy and Lois. Then he'll say his name backwards and disappear. Hope I get chosen!
