Oh yes, this is going to be a really fun melee to think about. It's time for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to take on Deadpool! The Turtles have been making an awesome return in IDW's reboot, eventually defeating the Shredder and taking on the likes of General Krang and Slash. Meanwhile, Deadpool's remaining hilarious and awesome in his new title over at Marvel, where he humiliated Batroc and took down the undead and amped U.S. Presidents.
But if these two sides clashed, who would win? Will numbers and teamwork eventually overcome a healing factor and skill edge? Before diving into the debate and casting your vote, there's a few key things I have to address for this one.
- "Gregg, this fight is dumb. Deadpool can't die so he eventually wins!" Being unkillable doesn't make Wade unbeatable . In the CV Battle of the Week, knockout or temporary incapacitation count as a loss, so if the team can accomplish that, they'd technically be victorious.
- "Deadpool has a gun. He shoots them. Game over, man!" In the IDW series, they've consistently shown the ability to deflect and dodge projectiles. So yeah, not that simple.
- "Deadpool is a joke and can't fight." Sure, he tends to goof around from time to time, but the dude definitely has a slight skill edge over any of the Turtles in a 1v1 setting and his stats are above peak human.
- And while we're talking about stats, it's worth noting the Turtles are also above peak human.
Comic Vine Battle of the Week Rules
- Combatants are in character (both sides are current/standard versions).
- This is a random encounter.
- They're fighting in a generic downtown city setting. It's unpopulated and at night. Assume they start roughly 25 feet apart and visible. There's a fair amount of cover between them.
- All characters have standard gear.
- Incapacitation, knockout or death all count as elimination.
Voting will remain open until this Friday morning (ET) and a new article will go on the homepage shortly after. Please keep in mind voting remains open for four days so you can research the characters and read the debates presented for both sides. I know it's easy to vote for the side you like more, but please try to have adequate information on both sides before casting your vote.
Friday's update will include one Viner's argument for the winning team (only posts in the poll thread will be considered *link above* and it can't be a scan fest), the staff's thoughts and if we're extra lucky, thoughts from writers, artists and others in the industry! Viners, it's understandable that debates over "who would win?" can get heated, but please try to keep the conversations informative and not personal.
