Two of the coolest characters from my childhood are about to face-off. In one corner, we have a physically formidable alien which thrives on hunting anything and everything across the cosmos. In the other corner, we have a veteran bounty hunter from the Star Wars universe. Both are quite tactical and sporting a super awesome array of weaponry, but who will be the one to walk away from this encounter? Will the Predator add Fett's head and helmet to his collection or will Boba Fett turn the hunter into the hunted? Or, could this possibly be too close to call?
I suppose it's worth noting these characters are much more impressive in the comics than they are in the films. I know it's tempting to vote based on "Predator lost to Danny Glover" or "Boba Fett lost to a blind Han Solo," but try to cast your vote after researching both combatants. Whether it's through reading the debate as it progresses during the week or through seeking out comics with the characters, please try your best to cast an educated vote. Ultimately, you're free to vote based on whatever reasons you want, but you can't blame me for asking, right?
Comic Vine Battle of the Week Rules
- Combatants are in character.
- This is a random encounter (aka neither side has pre-existing knowledge of their enemy).
- They're fighting in a generic downtown city setting. It's unpopulated and at night and all standard city lights remain on. Assume they start roughly 50 feet apart and visible. However, there's a fair amount of cover between them (parked vehicles and such). The entire area is on limits. This means alleys, rooftops, building interiors, etc.
- Both characters have standard gear (but no access to their standard vehicles).
- Seeing as there have been so many different Predators, assume this one is well-trained and experienced but not an Elite/Elder.
- Incapacitation, knockout or death all count as elimination.
Ladies and gentlemen, you have until this Friday morning (ET) to research the characters, debate and cast your vote! As always, Friday's update will include one Viner's argument for the winning character (only posts in the poll thread will be considered and they can't include scans *link above*), the staff's thoughts and if we're extra lucky, thoughts from writers, artists and others in the industry (spoiler: one writer has already provided a blurb)! Viners, it's understandable that debates over "who would win?" can get heated, but please try to keep the conversations informative and not personal.
Feel free to make future match suggestions in the comments below or via Gregg's Twitter page.
