Comic Vine Battle of the Week: Colossus vs. X-O Manowar

As for comments which clearly display a misunderstanding of a character: proving otherwise should be easy, right? There's literally dozens of feats which prove Colossus can take a grenade with ease and X-O's sword didn't even slice through Gilad's sword, something obviously far less durable than Piotr. If said person still refuses to accept facts, then nothing productive can be done and choosing to keep engaging them is a pointless battle. Prove otherwise and let everyone else then read the posts and judge for themselves. Assuming you're in the right, everyone else will see that and the other post will lose credibility. No need to make things personal, especially when you can just flatout prove why the statement is incorrect.

You're a straight shooter and I respect you k4tzm4n. I may be rude sometimes when I think someone is trolling and that is no excuse, I agree we should still treat others with respect, I apologize for that. Seriously though, how do I know these X-O supporters really think Colossus would lose to a grenade or a sword? Anyway who believes that is smoking some seriously good stuff or trolling. You've probably dealt with a lot of trolls over your years on Comicvine, some of the more notorious ones I'll bet. What advice would you give others?

I'm with you 100% that Aric isn't going to decapitate Colossus, but if you're going to respond to the person, at least prove why you disagree instead of just straight up insulting them, you know? I mean, technically neither of you guys broke any rules and this isn't a warning, I'd just like to see people treat one another with more respect, that's all.

I would tend to agree with you however new or not posting comments like Colossus getting Decapitated indicate either extreme ignorance or some extreme low balling ... ill admit i was new once before (and there were times i was way way wrong) but not up to that point... I will make an effort to work on how i respond too new viners though because you are right.

Guys, you can be totally rude to new users and make sure they never take part again... or perhaps you can point out why you disagree instead of just insulting them. You can at least copy/paste or provide a link to the page with your argument, you know? EMBRACE YOUR FELLOW COMIC FANS, DAMN IT! :D

Ok first of all. I love colossus and this would be a damn of a fight……………if XO manowar wasn’t so versatile. Sure colossus has the durability and the strength to match aric physically. Not to mention how much hands this beast of a man has since having a long tenure with the x-men. The thing is though, is that aric is basically wearing the equivalent of an alien diety. Anyone who has been reading XO like myself (shame on you if you aren’t) will begin to realize this one true fact…………….ARIC IS EASILY THE MOST POWERFUL THING IN THE VALIANT UNIVERSE SO FAR. Even toyo harada, the super psychic of the harbinger foundation shits his pants even thinking about aric in the suit. I would’ve said this had been more of a fair fight if colossus had the powers of the juggernaut but if that were to occur, then aric would probably be in for the ass beating of his lifetime.

have you seen one instance where X-O hasn't gotten close? that's my point--he is so arrogant that in character he will always resort back to fist fighting?

I do not know much about X-O, but from what I have read on here it doesn't seem like a good selection for this. Your putting up a pretty simplified version of Colossus against a warrior with a super advanced suit. You have a brute that is best utilized at close range against someone he can evidently fly, shoot lazers, and has other weapons that come with his suit. Honestly I don't understand how you expect to get a discussion started when it seems like there too far apart in means of powers. I'm sure X-O is going to win handily because he can fly around and basically attack from afar, where as Colossus is kind of limited to staying on the ground. The only thing that could possible give this a closer comparison is if you give Colossus his Cyttorak power that he gained during Fear Itself or give him his Phoenix Force power. If he was fitted with one of those then this battle would be more appealing, but if not it doesn't even seem like a good battle. As much as I love Colossus this battle doesn't give him much chance at more than 2 or 3 victories out of 10 and that only if X-O stayed close and did some H2H, then he would have more of a chance. Props goes to X-O for being pretty awesome, but somebody else beside Colossus would have been a better choice if he doesn't get a helping hand from Cyttorak or Phoenix Force.

@admiral_ironbeast: Yes, he could probably run through the Helicarrier and destroy it. He has done that to a majority of vehicles and starships he has faced

@admiral_ironbeast: I respect your position on this and why you have it... also thanks for the scans. I'm not trying to imply that Colossus isn't a beast, but even still, your saying X-O needs to get close for Colossus to do much. That's all well and good but I don't see why it's enough to give him the majority. When it seems as though all X-O has to do is, "Not get close." (Pretty simple really) to win this.... Shouldn't it then stand that X-O should probably win, if only because his way to trump Peter is pretty darn easy?

@dondave: Truth to be told i don´t know much about colossus, but at some point the Shansara armor was able to destroy a whole alien invasion.

Durability and people saying X-O always fights close in 1v1 is enough for Colossus to win. Keep in mind that Colossus is ridiculously powerful and has a berserker rage that comes close to wolverine's. Colossus only needs to get his hands on X-O once, then X-O is going to get smashed to pieces.

Check this scan out... Colossus is used as a projectile to destroy a shield Helicarrier... X-O may have the weapons to easily blow a Helicarrier up, but could he blow one up by running directly into it? point being Colossus's durability is enough when combined to his speed that he will be able to beat X-O so long as he can get a hold on him. I see Colossus winning 6/10, with X-O dominating every fight until he makes the mistake of getting to close and gets KOed.

Not to mention... Colossus has colossal leaps (see what I did there...). Here we see a young Colossus jumping up to destroy a helicopter. As X-O does not know Colossus is capable of this, the fatal mistake of getting to close will be sooo easy to make

Anyone going to argue for Colossus? So far the best defenses i'v seen for him is his durability, and people saying X-O always fights close in 1V1. Those arn't great arguments. Colossus can and has been knocked out before, and doesn't seem to have anyway to tag his opponent unless X-O let's him by getting close. Just because he like's to go H2H doesn't mean he has too, and if he doesn't.... what's Colossus gonna do? In the end X-O's versatility wins him the day handily. To me that just means this fight should be X-O's by far the majority of the time. Assuming X-O can put out enough firepower to hurt Peter from a distance, why is this not pretty much a stomp for the man in the suit? I havn't voted yet, but I would really like to see someone who knows what they're talking about give a good defense of Colossus in this setup.

Aric wins this round. Colossus may be invulnerable due to his armor but when it comes to hand to hand combat Aric is the better man. This guy is a trained warrior in the old ways. Colossus may have the strength to dish our cars as pebble to Arics way but Aric can easily disintegrate it with his laser cannon.

Aric can easily suck the oxygen out of Colossus brain by grappling him and they continue the fight in outer space.

My thoughts, feel free to disregard or whatever:

He wears an organic armor that can restore vital parts of his body when he is injured in battle, it has weapons that have destroyed fleets of ships and an entire race of spider aliens at a whim. Because of the suit he can fly great distances at great speed, be it on planet or in the void of space. If he is separated from the armor, he still has limited control of it due to the psychic bond they share. It can produce any weapon the user can think of, be it cannon, axe or sword.

The man inside the suit is a Visigoth warrior that has lived thousands of years in the service of a hostile race whom he escaped and obliterated. He has often found himself on equal footing with some of the Valiant universes most fearsome enemies and either kicked their asses (see Ninjak, self explanatory; or the Eternal Warrior, think invincible lives forever avatar of the mother earth guy) or at least held his own (see Toyo Harada, most powerful psychic on the planet, think Professor X if he was created by Hiroshima).

Colossus is awesome but I'll have to give great consideration as to whether or not he could survive this fight, let alone win it.

All Aric does when he's fighting one on one is go in close

As a big fan of colossus, i still have to say X-O wins. While Aric is more Brute then anything, the suit just gives him wayyyyyy too much versatility for colossus. Now if him and peter decide to go blow for blow thats one thing but with everything the armor can do, for people who dont know it pretty much turns this into like blue beetle vs colossus. Suit has projectiles, flight, can make plasma swords. etc..colossus would have to rely on getting in too close to win this. sadly he loses here.

@medulaoblaganda: Wasn't that in Ultimate X-men, with a different version of Wolverine and Colossus? If so, then it's not a valid example.

In the above preview, X-O withstands a spaceship-rocking explosion and even manages long range teleportation.

And in this final preview, his armor immediately signals him to hidden danger. If there's a weakness to exploit on Colossus, the X-O armor will find it.

His Energy sword was blocked by an ordinary sword, I doubt it's cutting Piotr.

Healing and staying conscious are two different things, it's not like Aric hasn't been knocked out before.

@baltoro: True, Colossus would beat X-O in h2h most likely, but X-O is not limited to only his hands. His energy blasts and energy blades had hacked through numerous enemies and metals before. It's uncertain whether they would have a similar effect on Colossus, but they would undoubtedly do some serious damage.

Another point though, Aric's armor can also heal him - at one point it even regrew his entire hand. Colossus is one of the toughest beings around, but when he's finally put down, he can only stay down.

Colossus isn't losing to a grenade buddy...or is he being limited to human form to make this a fair fight? If X-O tried to punch him he'd get his arm broken rather quickly. @dondave: @dondave: if thats ultimate colossus, then which is stronger eath 616 or marvel now collosus, and ultimate colossus? dont forget earth 616 colossus held is own against the juggernaut in the past. if we are to use colossusnaught at full power, then x-o is in trouble haha.
