Comic Book Question of the Week Results: GREEN ARROW vs. HAWKEYE

Does the Comic Vine community love the Emerald Archer or Clint's solo book more? Come find out!

Thanks to a few undeniable similarities, there has always been a "who's cooler?" or "who's better?" debate between the Big Two's famous archers. But this latest Comic Book Question of the Week wasn't about that at all. Instead, this week I decided to praise how both characters have their own phenomenal books. Matt Fraction and David Aja have crafted a hysterical, heartwarming and refreshingly fun experience with their new take on Clint's life. Meanwhile, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino have completely redeemed Ollie's solo book in The New 52, giving it a grand scope, beautifully unique visuals and a gripping story line. Both certainly warrant praise, but at the end of the day, it's clear which one the Comic Vine community prefers.

Brovengers!

With over 400 votes, Fraction and Aja's book took 43%. To be fair, they've had more time with the title, so it's possible this could be a far closer race down the road. Lemire/Sorrentino's series earned 34% and "I can't pick! They're both superb!" soaked up 12% of the votes. For some reason beyond me, 11% aren't reading either. Tsk tsk.

Check the homepage new Tuesday to vote in an all-new Comic Book Question of the Week!

Give Green Arrow a shot as well (pun intended). It's really superb now that it finally has a devoted creative team.

I'm shaking my head to all you 11%

The Hawkeye book is amazing and Green Arrow got of to such a slow start and is only just picking up pace. But if it was between the characters themselves Green Arrow would wipe the floor with Hawkeye.

LOL, this.

I am the 11%

Both are great, but the humor in Hawkguy is what made me vote for him bro. Though GA has better art.

Posted by bunkerbuster05

Hawkeye continues to be the best book every month, in my humble opinion. The art is matched by the insanely clever dialogue in such a way I've never seen before.

I know everyone says OMG HAWKEYE IS BESTEST MARVEL BOOK EVERZ but I just can't get into it.

Shame on those 11% that are not reading Hawguy and Green Arrow!!!

@paralaxsteve: I don't think so. It iss like when you really want and feel dogs should be smarter than cats' but the reality is that cats are just smarter.

I prefer Hawkeye. It's a fun book, even if a little too indulgent sometimes, but still pretty fun. Green Arrow took a long time to pick up, but since Lemire came on, it's been MUCH better. But, still have to go with Hawkeye, for consistency. (but as a character, I lean more towards Ollie).

Posted by Cyborg6971

I started GA since lemire took over. I've been broke for so long that I can't pick up Hawkeye yet. (Tear)

Posted by longbowhunter

I picked Hawkeye but Lemire's GA is getting good. Excited to see Shado enter the story.

Posted by Shallbecomeabattoo

I love both, but I have to admit that I still really miss the older Oliver Queen from the pre new 52. this is one of those characters that was a lot cooler because he was older.

Posted by MuyJingo

I don't read either because I don't find archer characters that interesting. I'm not big into Marvel so Hawkeye is unlikely. I like Green Arrow as part of a team, but don't find the character captivating enough to read his solo series. Especially now that he's lost about 20 years.

to the 11% and the 43% read Green Arrow

@theheat: I can change your mind by having you watch the 'Arrow' cw series. Also watch season 9 of smallville. Where I was once 'meh' like you, now I am a GA fan :-)

Lemire's Green Arrow is good have not read Hawkeye yet

Posted by iceslick

I honestly think Hawkeye/"Avenger" (pun intended) is a better book even though I love Green Arrow more. It's just because Matt Fraction is a better writer than Jeff Lemire in terms of these books. I honestly think Hawkeye should have said "I'm Hawkeye" because the cop could be dumb enough to think that his superhero name. lol

Posted by CombatSpoon86

Lemire/Arrow and Fraction/Hawkeye is just what I need. Love these books. I love both but Fraction Hawkeye a little more.

Posted by The Stegman

Now all we need is another crossover!

Posted by Twentyfive

@the_stegman: Reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas! Somehow.

Anyway, Hawkeye all day! Better hero.

Posted by darkwingdan

I voted for both. I've read all 3 of Lemire's Green Arrow, and I just read the first 4 issues of Fraction's Hawkeye. While Fraction's writing is a little better, I prefer Sorrentino's art, so it comes out as a wash in my opinion. It's a good time to be an archery fan.

I want to read green arrow trying to fit it into my budget where do i start?

No surprise here. Hawkguy has taken people by storm. I voted Green Arrow, but it was close even for me.

Issue 17.

Posted by RedheadedAtrocitus

I'll admit, I'm one of the 11 percent ::blushes in shame:: but mostly because my current budget doesn't allow me to get these. Trust me though, Katz, I do wanna get both titles in trades when funds permit. I really do.

Posted by Teerack

I think Hawkeye would lose only because he's his own worst enemy.

Posted by xtremekidx

Both are amazing even though i voted for Green Arrwo only because i am a DC fanboy!

Posted by Uncle_Yusuf

I haven't read Hawkeye because I've never liked him. I hated the New 52 Green Arrow, so I didn't start reading it until Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino got on the book. I'm glad to say that I'm quite pleased and satisfied with GA now. They're doing a terrific job. I just hope the book doesn't go back to the crap it used to be once Lemire and Sorrentino are finished with their run.

good

Posted by Extremis

I still prefer Green Arrow's epic scope to Hawkeye's bro brigade. But I'm reading them both and unless creative teams change drastically, I'll be around for a bit.

Also how great is it that Hawkeye is one of the only Marvel NOW titles going for $2.99? I swear it's the only one ive seen less than $3.99.

Edited by arnoldoaad

I read both and I really cant understand how can anyone pick GA over Hawkeye

Hawkeye is just better on every possible way

Posted by DerekHive

They're both good. The latest Green Arrow run has revived the series but I feel we've seen the whole "Father's secrets come back to haunt him" thing before. Hawkeye definitely has a slightly more unique story that's handled in a successfully comical approach. The team for Green arrow has even copied a few panel techniques from Hawkeye. So ye if you have to choose, Hawkeye wins via originality in both art and story.

Green arrow I kinda like gawker but green arrow is just awsome

Edited by Dbogan67theman

Hawkeye...he was trained by the criminal minds as teenager, then goes up against Ironman. Ironman? Do we need say he was trained by Captain America in hand to hand combat? He doesn't have to rely on his bow and arrows as Ronin or the short stunt as Captain America, whom he tossed the shield around to have it come back to him? Same Hawkeye who was leader of West Coast Avengers and Thunderbolts. Now to Green Arrow...let's see, not a proven leader. Superior archer. Can't rely without his bow and trick arrows. Should say more but I can't. It's Hawkeye.

Posted by lazyboy93

Hawkeye drops his bow down and still pwns GA then steals his girl.
