Comic Book Question of the Week Results: Favorite Marvel Villain

Magneto? Thanos? Doctor Doom? ...Stilt-Man?! Come see which villains the Comic Vine community likes the most!

Villains are currently stealing the spotlight over in the DC universe, so this week, we wanted to give the villains over at Marvel a bit of love. On Tuesday, we asked you who your favorite fiend from the 616 universe is and after two days of voting, only two villains attracted a large number of supporters. The race boiled down to two powerhouses: Magneto and Doctor Doom. So, who did the Comic Vine community ultimately side with? Stilt-Man Doctor Doom!

First appearing in FANTASTIC FOUR #5, the evil genius has proven time and time again that he's more than deserving of A-list status. With a shockingly formidable mind, mystical abilities and a plethora of technology at his disposal, Victor von Doom has been a challenge to numerous big name heroes and has even temporarily stolen Silver Surfer's powers. Plus, the dude has Doombots. That alone is full of win.

Here's the poll results.

If you voted for Doctor Doom, go ahead and tell us why you think he's Marvel's best big bad. Also, share what your favorite Victor von Doom story is! That way, maybe someone else out there can discover why he's awesome. For everyone else, go ahead and tell us why a different character earned your vote.

Want another question of week? Well, check back next Tuesday!

For me this has just established how much better DC's villains are.

That's.........the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

How does this establish that in any single way?

How does this prove that a clown in make-up or that a bald xenophobe is better?

I mean,I don't mean to insult the characters that I dearly love, but the point is,you stating that they are "better" as if it's objective or anything but your opinion is silly. Especially since this has nothing really to do with DC.

Some people can say that DC doesn't even have good villains.

I believe he was meaning to say that DC has a better variety of villains than Marvel does. (Mind you, I'm not saying I agree, I am neutral on the matter) I think he's saying that if CV had a poll asking who the favorite DC villain is, there would be more challengers for the top spot than just one (in this case Magneto, who isn't even a villain anymore). I can't say I agree with him entirely, because I am surprised Doom and Magneto have that much larger of a fan-base than say Green Goblin or Ultron or Apocalypse, so there could be a similar situation with DC where one or two villains take a large lead on any other contenders.

Also, I just want to clarify that the Joker doesn't wear make-up, that's just how his face is. :)

1. I know the thing about Joker :)

I'm a fan of both DC and Marvel.

2. But I would actually disagree myself. I mean,I personally think that marvel has more variety. Although, that's just a tad bit of a bias for me. Mostly,I think both have variety in their characters (TONS,too),it just depends on what you are looking at. So I would say that they are somewhat equal? Actually....I don't really know.

But I disagree with him.

3. Although if there was a DC one,I am pretty sure most people would pick Joker or Darkseid.

I had to clarify the Joker thing. xD I just needed to be sure you knew.

Right that's what I mean. There are so many good villains that just picking one, you obviously have to pick the biggest one. As in Doc Doom and Magneto for Marvel and Joker, Darkseid, and/or Luthor for DC. So if we had maybe one or two more picks instead of just the one, it might be a more showing list.

Damn it Magneto, I had faith in you.

I can't believe Eye Scream didn't make the list.

DOOM FTW!

Posted by Night Thrasher

I voted Doom and would have no matter what the question was; but the real question is, how come this guy wasn't a choice

Posted by kgb725

Doom does anything he sets his mind to

Posted by NorrinBoltagonPrime21

I can't believe people voted for Galactus

Lex Luthor...

It's good to be the king...

Posted by GraniteSoldier

I voted Norman Osborne (Green Goblin since that's all he's listed as) but I do love Dr Doom. Not surprised he won.

Clearly Magneto is the best marvel villain ... I think Victor Von Doom rigged the voting

Posted by mewmdude77

I voted Green Goblin. He was the one who killed Gwen Stacy (and made fans realize that the hero wouldn't always get a happy ending), organized the Clone Saga, killed Ben Reilly, took over the country as the leader of H.A.M.M.E.R., killed the Skrull queen, and has hurt Peter Parker mentally and emotionally than any other Spidey villain.

It's hard for me to pick just one favourite Doom story, however, Emperor Doom is definitely a classic. Doom finally achieves his goal of world domination, utilizing the powers of the Purple Man to enslave the world and its heroes. I won't spoil the ending, but it features a very interesting twist. :)

Oh, and this is my favourite Doom cover:

Doom baby, Doom !

Didn't know about his new costume. I like.

and yeah, why wasn't Red Skull on here. I probably would've voted for him. He's the nastiest.

Posted by TheManInTheShoe

Glad I voted for him!

Edited by tximinoman

It was either Doom or Magneto. The others didn't had a chance really.

By the way, I belive the newest villain here is Carnage and he's been around for 21 years now. It gives you quite an idea of how Marvel has a huge lack of new good villains and how much they need some.

Not surprised Dr Doom won. The Guy fought almost everyone in the Marvel universe.

Funny, I thought Loki's fangirls would turn out in large numbers for this poll. Oh well, GLORY TO DOOM!!!!!

Posted by WaveMotionCannon

I voted for Thanos but Dr. Doom's a iconic Marvel villain so I'm not mad.

Posted by impossibilly

@impossibilly: HAHA! Was I the only person who thought that was funny?

It's quite possible. But I appreciate you all the more for it. :)

man i'd love it if Sinestro could somehow get to the same level as doom is for marvel, instead of being a green lantern enemy he should be a universal threat to the dcu

So Thanos took the bronze metal? Decent I say!

Pssh! Magneto is way better...lol

Didn't vote for Doom but...

ALL HAIL DOOM!

Posted by Mezmero

I voted for Other since my choice in mind was not listed. But he is Doom... Magneto is pretty cool too. But he is Doom... There are a couple bad guys that I like slightly more and yet none may touch Doom!

Posted by save.me.now

I didn't even know about this poll. The winner makes sense though. I personally would have voted for Norman or Magneto myself. Though like a lot of ppl I'm surprised Red Skull didn't even make it.

Also, those Doc Ock votes should have been disqualified. He's an avenger, that's as heroic as it gets *shakes fist*

Posted by heroic_warrior76

Ultron for me.

Posted by Queso6p4

Definitely a fan of doom but Magneto's been my favorite forever.

Posted by sweatboy

Guy in cape and helmet who was oppressed in his childhood/youth and grew up to be a monster with strong ideals, was also the college roommate of the good dr/professor, Doom is pretty much a facsimile of the awesomeness that is Magneto. If the votes that went for Mystique and Sabretooth was directed toward their boss, he would have won. Sabretooth is probably the coolest villain btw

Kingpn is way to low and carnage is way to high.

It's interesting because as someone not that familiar with Dr Doom I was hoping to see some people explain what's so great about the character. I've yet to see such an explanation.

Sometimes I'm fairly sure that this website is just full of random nonsense, with people rarely saying much of anything at all- "Doom because he's the coolest!", etc. *sigh*

Posted by JuliusTakalua

Doom, THanos, Ultron, and Magneto. They're powerful, awesome, and actually threatening....

Posted by YourNeighborhoodComicGeek

Books of Doom is probably my favorite Doctor Doom story ever.

Its a great origin story. Science and magic = Doom.

Read Books of Doom by Ed Brubaker. All the explaining as to why Doom is awesome will be done there.

Doom has always shown dominance to every hero, he even challenged gods himself. It's too bad that The Manderin couldn't be on this and not IM3 Mandarin.
