Comic Book Question of the Week Results: Favorite Current Big Event

Did the Crime Syndicate blast apart the Avengers? Or did the X-Men or TMNT sneak by and take the win?

Many of us do have event fatigue, but darn it, there's just no resisting an event with a lot of promise. Luckily for us, there's four of those going on right now. Evil reigns supreme in DC's universe, the Avengers are battling a massive cosmic threat, the X-Men are facing trouble with time travel, and Leonardo has become Shredder's ally. We each have our own favorites here at Comic Vine, but this week, we wanted to see which story you're enjoying the most or think has the most promise. Well, it turns out DC's latest big event cleaned house and earned a massive majority of the votes.

  • DC's FOREVER EVIL / VILLAINS MONTH: 44%
  • Marvel's INFINITY: 21%
  • Marvel's X-MEN: BATTLE OF THE ATOM: 18%
  • TMNT'S CITY FALL: 13%
  • None of the above: 3%
  • Other: 1%

Sure, this isn't the first story ever where the villains have taken control, but who cares when it's done skillfully and is flowing with potential? For one, we have Lex Luthor (who Geoff Johns does a superb job writing, by the way) stepping up to the plate and being the "hero." Then we have the return of the very awesome Crime Syndicate and a war among DC's iconic villains as they take sides and form alliances. Yeah, you can bet this story has a solid grip on our attention and we're really digging some of the Villains Month issues. After this poll, it's clear DC's latest event has the attention of most of you as well.

Oh, and did we mention David Finch is illustrating?

Which option earned you vote and why, Viners? Give the comments section a piece of your mind. Lastly, don't forget to check back next Tuesday for an all-new 'Comic Book Question of the Week!' In the meantime, if you have a suggestion for a future question, we're more than happy to hear it! So, if you've got one, feel free to share it below!

I like the speed of Infinity as of next week we will be half way through so that's good. But I will have to go with Forever Evil as I am just a DC guy at heart I guess.

And yes I am prepared for the hate I know this comment will bring.

I've only been reading monthlies for almost a year. And the events I've witnessed, off the top of my head, since starting are:

Throne of Atlantis

Death of the Family

Rise of the Third Army

Forever Evil

Battle of the Atom

Infinity

Age of Ultron

The Enemy Within

Harbinger Wars (Valiant)

Now, you tell me, would this intimidate you if you were a new fan? Would it be hard for you to find the significance in this type of "epic" storytelling if it happens every month? For me the answer is yes, on both accounts.

So, in short, I haven't even been reading monthlies for a year and I already know and fully appreciate this thing called event fatigue. Please, dear comic industry, ease up on me. I like you, I do, but why must you smother me so? You're like a person I went out with that one time and we both kind of liked it, but when you keep calling me and incessantly pestering me over and over again, you seem a bit desperate. Please stop.

People take time to spread on their negativity on as thick as possible in a attempt to persuaded someone they don't even know instead of spending that time to read more comics. Who is the real loser here?

You, since you're doing the exact same thing.

@superbat420: Agreed. This is an opinion blog marvel fans are pissed for no reason, just because you think that event is the best dosen't mean everybody has to follow you.

This is amazing forever evil wins? this is not a surprise mediocrity rules the world now so. i am reading forever evil but i am very disappointed the first issue was ok but this villains month is rubbish. Even base on continuity this should be difficult to happen with all those Teams out there which are almost equals to the League like Stormwatch so they just let things happen like that? come on so no trinity (Superman, wonder woman & Batman) the world goes to shit please. Infinity is better it's a big scale event and sincerely is logic so many thing can happen in the universe at the same time and which are the result of events caused by one and the same mistake (Wolverine in infinity case) so I don't think too much stories which are linked some how are too big. City fall seems to be good i will try it.Battle of the atom has capture my attention now.

It isn't so much that the "Trinity" of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman disappeared as it is that the three Justice League teams disappeared. DC isn't Marvel. Marvel has like 6 Avengers teams and 5 X-men teams among various others. DC has 3 JL teams, the Outsiders, the Teen Titans, Suicide Squad, and Stormwatch. So yes, losing three teams and having most of the Suicide Squad defect to the villains is a HUGE blow to that universe. Pretty much the only teams still on the ground are the Teen Titans, Outsiders, and Stormwatch. So while it may not have the "epic" scope of Infinity; I find it a better read because the stakes are high while still be on Earth. Some people like the giant space operas; I prefer Children of the Atom or Forever Evil.

infinity is a space opera and it sucks so far ....please read annihilation and annihilation conquest for a marvel space opera done right... the avengers flying around space is so stupid i swear ...its getting redundant between AvsX and avengers assemblessecond story arch featuring thanos they've been in space over and over ZZZZZZ captain america in space zzzzzzzz

This.

And also, the Outsiders aren't even active in the New 52 so forget about them. It's literally Stormwatch (and who knows what the fuck is going on there), Teen Titans (seems like they're gonna fight the Syndicate next month, then get thrown into the timestream), the reverse (or whatever they're calling it) Suicide Squad (with Power Girl and Steel as the only two announced memebers) who will be fighting the regular Suicide Squad, and the random heroes littered throughout the DC Universe. We've already seen Nightwing get taken down, but we know he gets back on his feet here in the next few months (he's featured prominently on the cover of Justice League 25). Martian Manhunter and Stargirl over in JLA, Constantine in JLDark. And that unknown person in the Batsuit (my personal bet is that it's either Dick or the Joker [don't hate]). But beyond them, there are no Justice League members left out there.

Good event of course. Just wish Trinity War hadn't have been the springboard to it, but hey that's just me.
