You might recall that, back in April, we let you know about the ARKHAM ASYLUM toyline DC Direct was putting out. Big surprise - - it turns out that video game-based line was successful enough to beget a second line of figures. And the Source has some pretty atmospheric photos to evidence. You’ve got Mr. Zsasz, Bane, Poison Ivy and an armored Batman here to join the Joker (with the Ventriloquist’s dummy, Scarface), Harley Quinn, Scarecrow and regular Batman from the first set. These are, of course, based off Wildstorm’s radical redesigns for that next-gen game you might’ve heard of. These are some fine-looking figures, but don’t get too excited, kiddo. They aren’t coming out until next February, which I reckon will be right around when gamers will be going koo-koo crazy over the next ARKHAM ASYLUM game.
I give credit to those Wildstorm guys for making these already-twisted characters look even more nightmarish. Bane’s looking like he’s tripled up on the ol' Venom ‘roids diet and Mr. Zsasz… well, the fact there’s a figure for a Batman villain whose gimmick is carving a tally of his victims into his skin is delightfully messed. Although, the fear factor for the guy is a bit diminished given how easily you can take him out in the game. Seriously, all you've got to do is just swoop in and kick him. == TEASER ==
Let’s see… what characters from the game are left for a third set? There’s really only Killer Croc, the Riddler and Jack “ Creeper” Ryder, right? Two-Face, Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Ra’s al Ghul and the Calendar Man only made teeny, tiny cameos as I recall. Anyway, here are the photos of the rest of the figures, along with one of the first series' box set....
