Carnage Makes Broadway Debut in these Spidey Musical Pics

The first official photos from the lavish production, TURN OFF THE DARK.

I imagine this'll be the only time we ever get a story from Vogue

Carnage is coming to Broadway! While that might sound like a lurid headline from the New York Post, it actually means that everybody’s favorite homicidal, second-generation symbiote will be showing up in the already-controversial Spider-Man musical, TURN OFF THE DARK. Interestingly, it sounds like Cletus Kassidy’s inclusion might’ve been a personal choice of Julie Taymor, the director. She says she saw “the inherent theatricality in [Carnage] and… couldn’t resist.”

I’ll confess to not having seen too much of her work, but her unorthodox approach to Shakespeare in the likes of her TITUS and THE TEMPEST adaptations make me think she’s actually got more of a “comic book mind” than it might at first seem apparent.

That promo image of Carnage comes from a selection of five photos which I believe are the first officially-sanctioned-and-released pics from the show. In addition some more shots of Spidey, you have a very ravishing Mary Jane, an unusual (and very neon) Green Goblin and the show’s new villainess, the sharp and twisted Swiss Miss. Have a gander and start gabbing. I know you maniacs are going to have some strong opinions about these photos… == TEASER ==
