Cardiac and The Avengers Heading to SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN

Gregg is a huge Cardiac fanboy and can't contain his excitement over this one. Get a look at the eighth issue!

Someone pinch me because I think I'm dreaming. Cardiac, an obscure character who happens to be my favorite anti-hero (seriously, it's an unhealthy obsession), is coming back to the 616 universe! Marvel released a sneak peek and the cover of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #8, and it goes without saying that I'm insanely stoked. In the event you don't care or know about Cardiac (we're so not friends until you change that), you'll be happy to know the issue will focus on Superior Otto-Man's conflict with The Avengers.

Things aren't looking up for the fake wall-crawler. First Cardiac stretches out his costume, then he gets a super powered beatdown from Marvel's A-list team.

Here's the issue description straight from Marvel:

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Superior Spider-Man #8 from the chart-topping creative team behindAmazing Spider-Man #700, writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos. This might just be the beginning of the end for Doc Ock—or is it? With Peter Parker fighting full-force to regain control over his own body, will he be able to save Cardiac and redeem himself in the eyes of the Avengers?

Each issue of Superior Spider-Man includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices). Each issue of Superior Spider-Man features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.

An internal war between good and evil hangs in the balance, and it all leads up to one unbelievably heartbreaking surprise – only in Superior Spider-Man #8!

So, am I the only one out there who's ridiculously pumped for this one or are there other any other fans of Elias Wirtham out there? If so, what's your favorite scene with the anti-hero?

For the rest of you, will you be picking up Dan Slott's latest issue and how do you feel about the run as a whole? Speak your mind below, Viners!

Nice to see Spock getting whooped. The run's been great so far. Much better than I anticipated and I'm certainly looking forward to this arc.

Isnt cardiac some kinda giant robot heart from DC? Or was it just something made for the Teen Titans toon

Posted by fullmetaladam

@k4tzm4n: All I know is he didn't make it into Spider-man: The Animated Series. Even Rocket Racer was in it.

Holy crap I was just talking to someone about him on the twitter not long ago. Hell yeah I remember Cardiac.

WOW!!!! Cardiac goes back to when Jim Larsen was drawing Spidey right after Todd McFarlane. He was always more of an anti-hero then a villain. I really liked the character but it seemed like he just never got big. He was a cool character. He had a cool look. He was tough. Had a good power. Ramos kills it in this illustration. I hope he takes off.

Don't know much about Cardiac but I just finished reading #6 last night and I'm a huge fan of this run so far. It's definitely making its way to the top of the pile each month. My only complaint would be the art which I'm not a huge fan of....but that's a personal choice I suppose.

Now I have to go to my comic shop and find everything with cardiac....thanks. Guys. XD

Caaarrrrrdddiiaacc!!! I love this guy I used to read the Spidey comics with him over an over again! His costume is badass!! Hope they use him a lot!

I'm really sad to say this, but I'm really bored with spider-man now. And he is my all-time favorite superhero. I'm just sick of spock to be honest. I'm ready for this to be over. Bring back Peter and let's move on to something fun again.Unrelated I know, but I just finished SSM6 and needed to vent.

Glad to hear Cardiac is back, though :)

Haha #6 was so brutal lol. The part where he was able to see everything via is spidey bots was badass. Reminded me about The Dark Knight, when Bruce did the same thing with cell phones and Lucious was complaining about it. And When Spidey-Ock was telling Massacre that he will never change, that he will always be a murderer, I kind of thougt that Ock was talking about himself to. Maybe he will turn evil again. I thought that could be a hint.

Literally all I can see when I look at this.

I love cardiac! I miss some of the old 90's spidey villains. I hope Styx and Stone come back too

It's good to see him back in the game!

Still don't get the toe sock.

As long as Cardiaxe doesn't show up I'll be happy.

Also go away Ghost Pete you are no good

Don't you guys feel that both Spider-Woman and Black Widow could be used as alternates to the Black Cat as Spidey's partner in a frequent guest spot?

Judging from this article it's probably wrong I don't know who Cardiac is but... I had no idea who Cardiac was until seeing this article (hides from furious response from Gregg and other Cardiac fans)

Still dislike Ramos' artwork so no changes there. Glad to see the Avengers know something's wrong with SpOck and are doing something about it. The sooner Superior is over the better IMO.

Have to say I think Ramos art style really fits the whole Ghost Peter thing.

Big time cardiac fan here, can't wait for this to pop onto the shelves. just another reason why Superior Spider-man is Amazing.

He's been in less than 50 issues, so you're definitely not alone in that one.

YES!!! CARDIAC RULES!!! I'm so excited it feels like I may go into CARDIAC arrest! Ba dum bum. yea he's awesome...

I really hope this isn't an indication that they'll be rushing to finish off Superior Spidey's arc. Personally I want this run to go on as long as possible but it seems like the number of people wising up to Doc Ock is getting out of hand.

Posted by nerdork

My favorite arc with Cardiac involved is Maximum Carnage. I am nowhere near the fan of Eli that you are (obviously), but I always thought he was underused, as he has a lot of potential, IMO.

Posted by Mucklefluga

Cardiac is my guilty pleasure of comic book characters, i love that dude so much!

Posted by cbishop

I really like Cardiac, but his appearances make me a little sad, because Larsen has said that Cardiac is a character he wishes he hadn't given up to Marvel.

Posted by Dedpool

Always liked Cardiac. I have said Prowler and Cardiac are the two most overlooked Spiderman characters and ripe for some good storytelling.

50 issues huh? Poor guy not getting enough of the spotlight it would seem.

Cardiac is cool and all, but...

Everyone dog-piling on Spider-man is what makes me happy here!
