Buy Me This! C2E2 2014 Edition

Forget about things we could have bought at C2E2. What did we actually buy?

Normally, "Buy Me This" is all about things, for the most part, that we can't afford that are super-cool. This month, we've been at a lot of cons, and focused on cool, expensive items to buy there; however, by the time we got to C2E2, we noticed it was all the same vendors, so I decided instead of showing you things I couldn't afford, wouldn't it be fun to see what I actually bought? If you like haul videos, but a lot nerdier, without the video portion, and a bit of writing, this will be right up your alley!

Batman Black & White Statue: Sean Murphy

No Caption Provided

Batman Black & White statues are some of the coolest statues available because it takes the style of a particular artist and puts into statue form. This one I picked up was in the style of Sean Murphy, known for his work in PUNK ROCK JESUS and THE WAKE. This isn't the first time this cool statue has appeared on Comic Vine, though. It also appeared in Awesome Toy Picks as well.

Deadpool "Tacos" Shirt

No Caption Provided

T-shirts are always a big part of my con-going experience. I always pick a couple up. At C2E2, this incredibly ridiculous shirt caught my eye. In true Deadpool fashion, it makes little to no sense. However, it contains all the things I look for in a ridiculous shirt: pointless rainbows, flying, and giant, bold letter that has nothing to do with the actual shirt.

Galactus Puking a Rainbow Shirt

No Caption Provided

I didn't realize this until I started compiling all of this, but I purchased not one but two shirts with rainbows on it, It's really hard for me to pass up anything Galactus or anything with a character puking. Don't ask why. This was just such a weird shirt that didn't make sense to me, so I ended up decided to buy it.

Doctor Who Vinyl Figures

No Caption Provided

I'm a sucker for stylized vinyl figures and when I saw that Titans had put out figures for Doctor Who, I was on board, especially since there was one for every Doctor, and in some cases, there were variants. In total, there are 16 different figures in this set, so I picked two up. Here's what figures were inside.

No Caption Provided

I had a 6% chance of getting the same figure... Luckily, I think these toys are pretty dang cool, so I wasn't too bummed. Sadly, they cost more online than they did at the show. I'll just have to wait. (I really wanted a 1st Doctor and 7th Doctor)

Original Art: Issue 1, Page 12 of ARCHER & ARMSTRONG by Clayton Henry

No Caption Provided

For years, I've always wanted to own original artwork from a comic. More importantly, I wanted original art from a comic I like which has an artist I think is awesome. ARCHER & ARMSTRONG artist, Clayton Henry, just happened to be selling tons of his pages from the series and many of them at a ridiculously reasonable price. While there were a few amazing pages I really wanted, this one was in my price range and was a real memorable moment for me in the series, as Archer makes his way to the big city for the first time.

There you have it for the most self-indulgent Buy Me This feature yet. We'll be back next week with things none of us can afford.

@daltonmunnal: don't get your knickers in a knot. The guy who called me cliche had probably never read a comic book, or books in his life. I'm talking about the people who run into Deadpool merchandise at hot topic & assume anybody wearing comic book related stuff bought it at hot topic. I love Deadpool & I'm happy that you're so infatuated with him too.

@daltonmunnal: you forget the deadpool dude was being a butt towards the batman guy first by accusing him of being cliche. Basically they're both elitist jerks but deadpool guy was the bigger jerk by assuming batman guy was a noob.

See I like the deadpool shirt but a couple weeks ago some guy wearing walks up to & says, "Ugh a batman shirt, really? What a cliche." So I said, "Deadpool huh? First appearance, go." Idiot just stood there with this blank look on his face, it just seems that for some odd reason all the people who pretend to know about comics gravitate towards Deadpool, & it annoys the crap out of me. I actually own that shirt but won't wear it again after that day.

So you don't know anything about a character if you don't know his first appearance? My experience with Deadpool thus far has been through his first two solo mini series, four or five mini series from Bunn (however many he's at now), the entirety of his current ongoing, a good chunk of Way's ongoing, both Max minis, appearances in three video games (one of which being his own), and a good number of appearances in some Wolverine and Spider-Man comics. However, I haven't read his original appearance in X-Force, so I guess that aaaall goes out the window and I shouldn't wear my Deadpool shirt because I don't have enough geek cred. I can't even tell you what issue it was. I'm suuuch an idiot loser, amirite?

Odd reason to not like an awesome character like Deadpool.

Oh, and New Mutants 98.

@inferiorego: That Galactus Puking a Rainbow shirt reminds me so much of the King of All Cosmos in the game Katamari Damacy. Like, it looks just like that and he pukes rainbows. Just like that. Awesome picks, by the way.

Aww man, I always wanted to buy lots of original art like that. Clayton Henry is awesome too. How pricey was it? If its OK for me to ask, if not you don't have to answer.

The page I really wanted, featuring Armstrong puking was $300. The page I got, which I really love, was $150. It seemed really cheap and too good to pass up.
