Blackest Night Ups the Ante (Anti-Monitor, that is)

He's back in black!

As Agent Smith would say, it was inevitable.

I don't know, it's dark.  Maybe it could be somebody else?
I don't know, it's dark.  Maybe it could be somebody else?

When he was last seen, at the conclusion of the SINESTRO CORPS WAR, the Anti-Monitor’s disembodied, wailing spirit had landed on a mysterious planet and been forged, by forces unseen, into the power source of the Black Lanterns' big battery.   Now, Anti-Monty’s back as a card-carrying, ring-wearing, sigil-bearing member of the Black Lantern Corps itself as that cover to March’s GREEN LANTERN CORPS  #46 will attest to.

Black Lantern's Power
Black Lantern's Power

The Anti-Monitor’s getting to be like a great big cosmic scab.   Just when you think you’ve torn him off for good, he comes back meaner and even more rotten than before.

Adam Schlagman released the Greg Horn cover above to DC’s official blog, the Source, today along with this poetic press-release of doom...

First the Black Lantern Corps rose from the Crypt on Oa decimating the planet and many Lanterns in their horrific path.

Then Kyle Rayner’s brush with death and a Black Lantern ring resulted in Guy Gardner being blinded by great rage as he transformed into a Red Lantern killing machine.

All this tragedy and devastation led to the collapse of the Green Lantern Central Power Battery.

How could writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason make things any worse for our Emerald Warriors?

How about the return of one of the greatest threats the DC Universe has ever known: THE ANTI-MONITOR?

So what do you think, oh maniacal Comic Vine community? What effect will this surprise competitor have on BLACKEST NIGHT? When DC’s heroes have Nekron against the ropes, will he be tagging out to him?
