'Beware the Batman' Not on Cartoon Network's 2014-2015 Schedule

Beware the... cancellation?!

What do Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Beware the Batman all have in common? Sadly, the answer is they've all been booted from Cartoon Network's schedule. The channel has announced its current plans for the remainder of this year and 2015, and, unfortunately, Bruce Wayne's latest show is nowhere to be found. As of right now, it looks like all that will remain of of DC's properties on the Cartoon Network is Teen Titans Go! Well, at least fans of that show are getting a bit of good news, right? Maybe if we're lucky they'll decide to run the additional completed episodes at some point, but needless to say, Beware the Batman's future doesn't seem like an optimistic one.

No Caption Provided

At least we can take solace in knowing there's a blu-ray available which includes two unaried episodes (you can click here to purchase it). Does this news bum you out or have you been expecting this for quite some time now?

I finally got around to watching the whole series of Young Justice. Can't believe that they didn't bring back this cartoon they had so many more stories to tell. I watched the first episode of Beware the Batman and it was okay nothing that I will miss but it sucks that these cartoons are being cancelled left to right for no real reasons.

Not to be a downer, but i kinda expected this. Never got past the animation and plot. I hated the animation in Green Lantern: The Animated Series, but the plot was good enough for me to bare it. Not the case in this show. Oh well

This is too bad. I dug the look and tone of the show (I guess I'm the only one, but whatever). It had a ton of potential.

You know what sucks about Cartoon Networks... They don't cancel cartoons because of audience (those are fine), they cancel because they don't sell enough toys... Isn't that sad...

Dont worry, in 6 months or so they will announce yet another Batman show in another spur of complete lack of innovation.

I am beyond sick of Cartoon Network. Their biggest crime to me was Young Justice. Green Lantern was also really good. Now Beware the Batman... I don't think Beware was up to level of YJ or GL but I liked it. I feel like it was heading somewhere very solid. It was definitely refreshing to see a new take, for lack of a better word, on a long established (in just about every form of media) character like Batman. My disappointment is selfish in some respects because I want good cartoons but that is not my main motivation. I want kids to see great super hero cartoons so they will develop a lifelong bond with them just as Batman the Animated Series, X-Men, and Spider-Man did for me as a kid. That is the number one purpose, in my ideological mind, for cartoons like this. I don't have an issue with Teen Titans GO but that isn't the sort of thing that will develop a bond with those characters for people. Perhaps I am wrong but I don't think I am.

The show was good, I PVR'd it but never really got around to watching the whole thing. The good news from this is hopefully they will be airing a new show, something New 52 based please, like Aquaman, or Wonder woman. Just don't be another Batman show! I get he's the most popular right now but how many shows have we had of him? Waaay too much. Or they bring back Thundercats, GL:TAS or Young Justice.

@darthtanka:

Whenever a superhero cartoon gets cancelled, Cartoon Network likes to use that excuse, when in actuality the toy line might not even have existed. Another truth is that it really was not that good of a show.

I'd be crazy for hoping that this would mean that DC and WB would focus their efforts on a good quality quality, well written and respectful to the source material cartoon that 90s cartoons like Batman: The Animated series and Superman: The Animated series were. But a man can dream after all, even if it is a far fetched to think that we might not get a DC cartoon even close to the quality of the Timmverse cartoons.

@lvenger: A worthy dream but I don't see it happening with Cartoon Network. Or if it does, it will be cancelled before it finishes it's second season. I think Young Justice was on par with the Timmverse but CN put a stop to that. Quality makes no difference to them as long as kids are buying their toys.

@syncig: Although I personally wouldn't put it on par with the Timmverse (Season 2 was borderline overcrowded) Young Justice was definitely the start of something amazing. It's such a shame toy sales forced a brilliant series to be cancelled unnecessarily.

@soa: Christ, this again? No one was trying to replace GL with this show. They were originally set to run alongside each other. As a matter of fact, they were probably meant to be in the same universe. Sorry if I seem like aspic he with this post, I'm just a little sick and tired of the whole "replacing thing"

DC sure made the wise decision to cancel that DCAU that lasted for 15 years, 4 high quality shows & give us something better in its place. O wait. No.

tie ins into their movies? Unless its a Bat-show, thats just to make some money.

I'm glad this is gone, just so that people dont start to associate Katana as a wannabe Batgirl. Her, Huntress, Spoiler, Misfit put them together in some tight skimpy costumes & you've got a brand new team of females. Maybe add Canary or Vixen.

Not surprised a bit bummed since it was actually starting to really find itself. But it just didn't fit the mold of what CN looks for in terms of programming.

You know, I've been wondering, does DC have some kind of exclusivity deal with CN? Or does Disney have some kinda of deal with Netflix where they can't work with rival comic book companies? I've never quite understood why Netflix and DC don't get together. DC has always struggled with ratings on their shows after the second season (or 1st in this case) and Netflix is a place where that's not even a concern. It just seems like a no brainer...

The best thing about Beware the Batman was that I felt they really nailed the whole part of Batman being a detective. The animation took some getting used to but the story was good. I also liked how Anarky was used. Shame that this series wasn't around long enough to really develop into something great.

Cartoon Network just needs to cancel DC Nation altogether. They've completely ruined the idea of DC Nation, and we're now left watching reruns of that god-awful "Teen Titans Go!" that already air in advance during the week.

So even Batman wasn't safe from the CN axe. I didn't care for this version of Batman, but geez that was quick. I wish Netflix would just pick up these shows, more so Young Justice. I think normal networks are to kill happy on shows before they even get their feet under them. That being said they let shows that have run their course just keep going.

On a somewhat related note, I'm terrified of watching Young Justice because I'm afraid that I'll get overly attached to the show, only to have it pulled out from underneath me...just like EMH...

Sigh...why do all the good shows get cancelled?

@black_claw: Hopefully change follows. Cartoon Network has become a bombardment of campy, dim-witted humor, that makes one question there intelligence. I think DC Nation should go to The Hub, they'd be better treated there.
