Welcome to the latest edition of 'Best New Comic Book Battles.' Each week I'll narrow down the batch of new action sequences to my three favorites and explain what make them rock. There's also plenty of scans for your eyes to enjoy.
As much as I'd love to, I can't read every single new comic that comes out. This means your favorite might be something that has completely eluded my sight. If that's the case, feel free to sound off below about why you loved it. And no, I didn't read the latest INVINCIBLE because I'm only just starting the series. Without further ado...
Sif vs. The Ruler of Earth, Einhar, Svip & Bodvar
If there was a BAMF of the week award, Sif would be the clear winner. In JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #648, Heimdall cast a bloodlusted Sif to an unknown realm. It just so happens this island has a massive creature called The Ruler of Earth and only one of them will survive this encounter. The end result is obvious, but wow, Sif brutally slaughters the poor thing!
Someone should have told that creature to never ever try to step on an Asgardian warrior that's equipped with pointy objects. Since it didn't get the memo, she took advantage of the dumb attack and obliterated its right foot. Sif then began to work her way up the creature, blocking projectiles like a boss before going for the killing strike.

One slice to the throat and the monster is down for the count. Sif, being the warrior that she is, decides to go above and beyond, though. In a hilariously gory segment, she relentlessly goes to town on the creature's neck. In a list ditch effort, it attempts to grab her, but Sif promptly slices its hand off.
Before Sif can take a lunch break she's assaulted by a trio of berzeker Asgardians. Unfortunately for them, she has 'em completely outclassed and has no real problem humiliating them one by one. Not even a blade to the torso stops her momentum.
Luckily for them, Sif decides to talk it out with the group and they tell her all about the island over a meal. Naturally, Sif wants to move onto the biggest and baddest creature they have yet to slay, but attacking the creature transports them right into New York.
Also, it looks like we could see Sif take on Superior Spider-Man in the next issue!
Damian Wayne vs. Gotham
The night belongs to Damian Wayne! If you even remotely like Batman or Damian, then you absolutely need to read BATMAN & ROBIN ANNUAL #1. I won't spoil the plot with his father, but I will highlight the hilarious and fun action. Damian might be little and adorable, but he's not to be underestimated. A group of thugs has the Boy Wonder surrounded and makes the terrible mistake of calling him Batman Jr. Seventeen seconds later and... well, see for yourself!
