Best Comic Covers of the Week: 5/16/14

Check out what books we thought had the sweetest covers!

Welcome back to another edition of Best Comic Book Covers of the Week where we take a look at some of the most awesome looking comic covers. We also ask our followers on Twitter what they think as well. Let's get right down to business and check out some sweet art!

SUPERMAN DOOMED #1 by Ken Lashley

First up is SUPERMAN DOOMED #1 by Ken Lashley. There is an insane amount of detail within this cover and your eyes will get lost in it. This is also one hell of a menacing looking Doomsday.

QUANTUM & WOODY #10 by Kano

Next is QUANTUM & WOODY #10 by Kano. Who doesn't love a cool, stylized cover that reminds the reader of a really cool, classic film? Kano really does a great job at balancing the black and white here.

ALL NEW X-MEN #27 by Alex Ross

Here is ALL NEW X-MEN #27 by Alex Ross. It's Alex Ross. Most of what he does is pretty awesome and downright gorgeous. This is one fantastic cover with a lot going on and the colors really pop off the page.

BATGIRL #31 by Alex Garner

Up next is BATGIRL #31 by Alex Garner. It's been a little while since we've seen Garner on this list. His covers for BATGIRL are always interesting and right here, we're thrusted right into the middle of action as Batgirl and Ragdoll battle it out.

STARLIGHT #3 by Francesco Francavilla

Finally, here's STARLIGHT #3 by Francesco Francavilla. He uses an interesting color palate on this cover that really makes it feel like an alien world. His background work on this, as well, is fantastic.

Let's see what you guys picked as your favorite cover on Twitter!

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED #1 by Mike McKone

Today's Twitter pick is JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED #1 by Mike McKone or should we say JUSTICE LEAGUE CANADA? It's just like the regular cover with a title twist. McKone's art here is real nice and it's just a great look at who is on the team.

That's it for another weekly adventure with the best comic book covers of the week, we'll see you guys next week with a whole new batch of covers. Do you have a cover you simply love that we missed? Let us know in the comment section below! Also, make sure to check us out on Twitter to get your Twit-picks in for next week using #CVCovers, which we did not get a chance to do this week.

Wow, Ken Lashley is really good, until now I actually thought Jim Lee did that cover. I also love that JLU cover, but that's mainly because I love Stargirl :)

Its cool seeing Ragdoll back. I'd like to read that Batgirl issue. Francavilla's Starlight is incredible. And hey look Jean Ralphio made it onto a Quantum & Woody cover.

I really like that Batgirl cover, but Ragdoll's right leg looks messed up. Look at how it goes behind her left leg and where the boot appears. It makes it look like her shin was broken and the foot was bent outward, but it could just be me.

I dont like that Batgirl cover. Reminds me of those early 2000s 3D-cgi tentacle pron sites that you had to order with creditcard.

& really, JL Canada. At least redesign Stargirl to resemble & be based more on the Canadian Flag than the US one. Should be red/white with a maple leaf boob window. What is the closest translation of the term star-spangled into Canadian? Shouldnt she be O-Canada-Kid, & now CanadaGirl?

@longbowhunter: It's Sam Humphries

Damn, so not only does Sam Humphies have the ability to become a silhouette on a comic cover, apparently he can also mimic any plaid thats in the vicinity. Sam what are you doing writing superheroes? YOU ARE A SUPERHERO!!

Third.

Yeah, Futures End has been really snubbed so far. I was expecting it to see it every week in this segment ever since they announced Ryan Sook would be doing the covers.
