Best Comic Covers of the Week: 3/29/13

Check out some of our favorite covers for this week's new releases.

Each week we sift through our buy pile and choose some of the best looking covers to showcase on the site. This week there were a lot of good ones, but we managed to pick some of our favorites. Check them out below and let us know what you think. As usual, if there is a cover you absolutely loved, be sure to post it in the forums below!

Artist Steve McNiven's cover for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is really pretty. There is really not a whole lot to the cover except for the fact that it is really aesthetically pleasing. The pencils are clean and the colors vibrant, showcasing the eclectic cast of characters fans will find within the pages of the issue.

We love Nightcrawler, and he looks absolutely awesome gracing the cover of ASTONISHING X-MEN #60. The character seems to be literally leaping through the page, and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli proves he can do wonders with perspective, making a simple cover appear really interesting.

The cover to B.P.R.D.: VAMPIRE #1 by Fabio Moon is simply stunning. We loved the way the artist plays with contrasting colors for the cover, giving the image a very creepy tone.

Sometimes less is more, as is the case in artist Chris Burnham's cover to BATMAN INCORPORATED #9 depicting the silhouette of 'The Dark Knight.' It gives the book a somber tone, appropriate considering the events we've seen over the course of the last month.

The third issue of DEADPOOL KILLUSTRATED features a cover by artist Michael Del Mundo that is simply fantastic: it's a great homage to Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol.' The image is beautifully drawn and the colors are superb; a really impressive picture.

I don't like the Batman Inc 9 cover. It could have been so much better than just a grave looking out.

That guy who illustrates Inc has to be one of the worst artists in the business.

Just a heads up. Your article here disappeared from the site's front page after I viewed it once. I can still find it when I go to the News section, and it's the only article that vanishes from the front page after viewing.

Edit: The article is appearing again on the front page for me now.

They're all boring.

Yeah, that astonishing X-Men cover would be cool IF THAT WAS NIGHTCRAWLER AND NOT THE AoA VERSION!! I miss the sweet Catholic.

I preferred Marcos Martin alternate GoTG cover to the regular cover:

I thought that X-Men Legacy #8 had a great cover.

Now if only I could figure out how to show it...

This one's quite disturbing...

The Witch Doctor is one of those series I always want to check out but never do. Maybe I'll get the trade later.

This is definitely the best GotG cover.

The Phantom Variant cover for GotG #1 was better than that one :) Just my humble opinion of course.
