Best Comic Covers of the Week: 2/15/12

Check out some of our favorite comic book covers for this week.

It's the end of another week which means it's time to highlight the week's best covers! Each week we look through all of the new releases and choose our favorite covers out of all the week's new releases. Of course, we can't name all of our favorites and there may be some that we miss, so if your favorite cover doesn't make our list, be sure to include it below.

We absolutely loved the cover to FANTASTIC FOUR #4. The perspective of the image is great, featuring Sue Storm at the very center. Mark Bagley's pencils are beautiful, and the colors are vibrant and absolutely stunning.

The cover to FATALE #12 is really something special. The minimal colors really make the cover stand out, and the way that artist Sean Phillips plays with light and shadows emphasizes the detail and raw emotion captured in this image.

The cover to SCARLET SPIDER #14 by Ryan Stegman and Edgar Delgado is really beautiful. The perspective is great and the way the artist captured emotion in the picture is just brilliant. The colors are also really stunning the way that the deep red starts at the center of the image and just sort of bleeds out.

Artist Alex Ross's cover to STAR WARS #2 illustrates a beautifully painted cover to the series' second issue. The image is incredibly detailed and that's what drew us to this cover.

Dave Johnson gives us a very simple cover to ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #22, and it's really beautiful. The cover is really detailed and illustrated in a lovely way. The image is both simple and beautiful, while still encompassing the context of what happened in the story.

Finally, Greg Capullo's cover to BATMAN #17 is really stunning. On it we see a grotesque image of the Joker slow dancing with Batman's cape and cowl, what could be more creepy? The image captures the mood and essence of the issue, which is fantastic, and the falling rain gives that perfect added effect.

What were some of your favorite covers from this week? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm almost absolutely sure, Ryan Stegman did the cover for Scarlet Spider #14, Edgar Delgado did do the colors though lol

And that's totally an Alex Ross Star Wars cover.

Love the Scarlet Spider cover!
Not the best cover of the week but the funniest:

 "Do you swear on the Holy Bible, Mr. Alien... errrr... President!?!"
Does anyone know if Saucer Country is worth reading? Is it more fun or mystery?

Fixed! Sorry, guys! The covers in the wiki hadn't credited the artists! My apologies.

How long can a person actually survive with no skin on their face? Stupid Joker.

Like that the Other is in Scarlet Spider.

Oh lord Ryan Stegman I love you. Absolutely Wonderful.

@roboadmiral: it did

The cover for Batman #17 might just be the best cover I've ever seen.

Posted by mcbean

@Chronus: I like the alternate Tony Daniels cover much better.

Edited by mcbean

I think the Batman 17 alternate Tony Daniels cover is the best this week

@DonFelipe: It's a good read, but's it's ending in a few months at issue 15. I will say this, I think it will come off better as a collected edition where you can sit down and go through it in one shot. I like it but I find I have to go back and re-read some stuff because I forgot what was going in in the last issue.

@mcbean: agreed

Good to know. Just checked, there's a trade collecting the first six issues so I may as well give it a shot and see...
Thanks.

I really like this variant for Bedlam #4. It's a homage to Daredevil #182. Riley Rossmo's art is perfect for the sick vibe of this comic and he really captures it for this cover. I'm really sad he's leaving Bedlam.

Posted by derf_jenkins

I too like both of the Batman covers. The Bedlam cover here is amazing.

I might have suggested Batgirl # 17 or Morbius: The Living Vampire # 2 however these are all pretty sharp. I'm also a softie though and liked X-Men 41 by Kubert.

My favorite part about the Batman 17 cover, is the ad that Hot Carled all over it. There's ads all over these books, just leave the front cover be please.

Seriously. And why does the ad have to be Arrow? I don't need super-intense Olly staring me down. He looks so judgemental...

Batman#17 was really creepy. Loved them all but this one's best
