Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 7/5/13

What did the Comic Vine staff pick as their favorite covers for this week? Read on to find out!

Happy 4th of July to all our American readers out there! Hope you guys had a safe and super-fun holiday. Now that the party's over, it's time to figure out what some of the coolest covers appeared at your local comic book stores in the past week.

X-MEN LEGACY #13 is first up. This book, month after month, has some of the coolest looking covers. Michael Del Mundo provided this month's cover for the book. All of his covers have been really cool and stand-outs on the shelves. It's a cover that gets you interested about the issue's contents.

Next up, we have AVENGERS A.I. #1. Obviously, 8-bit covers catch a few of the staff's eye (mainly GMan and myself). Matthew Waite, who also provided some of the Valiant variant covers in the past month, gives a glimpse at some of the characters in this book is a MegaMan style.

Here we have IRON MAN #12 by Greg Land and Guru Efx. It's an eye popping piece, and who doesn't love a little rainbow action on their cover? There's also nothing better than a possibly drunk Tony Stark eyeing you before you read a comic.

This week, a new series started called TRINITY OF SIN PANDORA. This cover, in particular, was drawn by Ryan Sook. I loved seeing all the characters in the background here, and Pandora looks pretty awesome. This cover has a fantastic layout.

To close out this week, we have THIEF OF THIEVES #15. This month's cover was drawn by Shawn Martinbrough. I love the perspective here, and it's incredibly cool looking. It gives a good idea of the contents within the issue, and who doesn't love a comic with a bunch of people holding briefcases on the cover?

Well, that's it for this week! See you guys next Friday! What covers did you guys love this week?

I thought this one was so sweet!

I love Pandora's cover. Also, why isn't Earth 2 #14 on here?

The Skottie Young variant for Superior Foes of Spider-Man cracks me up every time I see it. It deserves to be on here!

You know, I didn't care a lot for the first issue of X-Men Legacy, but I may have to give it another shot. I would probably buy a covers gallery if they released one though, because they've all looked pretty awesome.

Am I the only person who thought "power rangers" when looking at the ironman cover.

Deadpool Kills Deadpool #1 was my favorite.

@akbogert: If you can stand the weird there are tons of really interesting ideas about all the new mutants and how humanity deals with them. Also one of the most adorable romances in comics right now.

Edited by akbogert

@matkrenz: I have seen a few scans of Blindfold and she's a character I really want to see more of. Not sure if that's related to said romance or not. If so... ugh. *stares hopelessly at pull list*

(also, forgot to mention in my first post that I really love the Iron Man cover too)

How did this not make it?

Earth 2 #14 wins this week, for me.

Same here. Considering the competition this week, I feel like Pandora just made the list so that they could promote the series. Maybe I'm just being jaded.

@akbogert: Well I've been reading since issue 7 and she had really cool character moments trough out, especially # 9, 11 and 12 and I imaging in the first six issues.

Seconded, SO should have been on this week. Fan of Guillem or not, this is one of the most dramatic covers on the stands. I was waiting for it to hit the stands since they said it was originally going to be on Batman Inc. #11 - Like it without the Logo and more centered...

Superman #21

@matkrenz: I've been reading it since issue 1 and she was an essential part of the first arc. You can get a lot of her backstory there. She's adorable and her relationship with Legion is a lot of fun!

Or Phantom Stranger #10 ??

Love this cover - cannot wait to read it.

@dngn4774: Don't get me wrong. I like the cover for Pandora. I like it a lot, actually. However, is it exceptionally great? I wouldn't quite say that as much as I would say that it is "above average" at most.

So I thought trinity war was just gonna cross over the three justice league teams. But on that cover I see Superboy. Does that mean the teen titans are gonna be involved in this too? Or maybe just Superboy?

I have to agree with some of the others here. Earth 2 #14. Gotta be my favorite cover this week.

I agree with these!

Awww no Green Arrow #22?

Love 8 bit art but I don't like that Avengers A.I one at all. The Iron Man one is really pretty though. Pretty small list this week, the covers in the comments are much better!

That's not Tony on the cover of Iron Man having a drink, it's his dear old dad.

Phantom Stranger cover gets my vote.

Posted by CoffeeWithBagels

Phantom Stranger and Earth 2 looked the coolest this week.

Posted by sinestro_GL

Enough of the 8-bit covers.

That Iron man cover is effing awful.

Does anyone even care about non big 2 publishers on here? This segment is garbage with the inclusion of that absolute rubbish. Check out the David Mack Shadowman cover. Much better.

Edited by dngn4774

@aquahawk: That's my point. It is a good book but I could think of at least 3 or 4 unnoticed covers that topped it that week.
