Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 7/18/14

Take a look at some of the coolest covers that came out this past week!

Welcome back to Best Comic Book Covers of the Week! Each Friday, we present to you some of the coolest comic book covers of the week chosen by the staff of Comic Vine. Also, we ask our followers on Twitter to also tell us what comic book covers blew them away. Let's get right down to business and see what covers made our list this week.

It would be hard not to have HARLEY QUINN INVADES COMIC CON INTERNATIONAL SAN DIEGO #1 by Amanda Conner and Paul Mounts on this list, since Comic Con is next week. Luckily, this cover is pretty awesome, so it doesn't feel forced. Conner's work along with Mounts' colors really shine here.

SQUIDDER #1 by Ben Templesmith

Next up is SQUIDDER #1 by Ben Templesmith. There's one way to describe Templesmith's art, especially in this case: haunting. The colors look really nice and flow really well on this cover.

HARBINGER #25 by Jenny Frison

Next up is HARBINGER #25 by Jenny Frison. It's hard not to have a Best Covers of the Week without having Jenny Frison's art appear at least once. Frison really captures the emotion and story of this past arc here.

JUDGE DREDD #21 by James Biggie

Here's JUDGE DREDD #21 by James Biggie. This one really caught our eye. It's a perfect set-up for the whole series and the overall design is simple but pretty awesome.

BATWOMAN #33 by Rafael Albuquerque

Next up is BATWOMAN #33 by Rafael Albuquerque. We love how Batwoman blends into the darkness here and the limited color palate really makes this cover pop out.

THE WICKED + THE DIVINE #2 by Jamie McKelvie and Matthew Wilson

Finally, here's THE WICKED + THE DIVINE #2 by Jamie McKelvie and Matthew Wilson. Wilson's colors are wonderful on this issue and is the reason that this cover made the list, without taking anything away from McKelive's design.

There was no clear winner with the picks on Twitter this week. Every reply was for a different book, so here's the coolest one, that wasn't on our list, the you guys picked as best cover.

ELEKTRA #4 by Michael Del Mundo

Your Twitter pick was ELEKTRA #4 by Michael Del Mundo. It was going to be on our list anyway because this is such a fantastic cover. Del Mundo once again does a great job with his cover work.

There you have it! Another awesome week of great comic book covers. Did you love something that didn't make it onto our list? Let us know in the comment section below or follow us on Twitter and tells us the best covers on Wednesdays!

Mat "Inferiorego" Elfring doesn't whisper "Hail Hydra" in your ear. He whispers "follow me on Twitter."

That Judge Dredd cover looks pretty epic.

Elektra and The Squidder covers are pretty killer. Out of books I actually bought this week Manifest Destiny was probably my favorite.

These Life With Archie variant covers are great.

You have to have robin rises in there, and I would also throw in the futures end for this weeks the have the most consistent beautiful covers I've seen.

I can't remember what I voted for but that Elektra cover is sweet! Really like the thing going on with the bird's reflection there.

The Harley Quinn is hilarious! Everybody in it is saying something!

Heck yeah. That cover made my week. Ultron baby!

@madeinbangladesh: I think you're a bit behind. Here's the cover for this month's comic. It's a pretty good one, too.

I'm not a fan of most of the covers on this list, but that Batwoman cover is pretty neat.

@pikahyper: I think this is the first time I've seen a "Crossed" cover on the Vine . I wonder why..:)

Posted by pikahyper

@edstone1: I've posted Crossed a couple of times before for Best Comic Book Covers of the Week, Avatar doesn't put out a lot of really good covers though, quantity over quality.

Posted by Edstone1

@pikahyper: I think there is a lot of cool "Crossed " covers that deserves to be on this site but theyr'e really sick. I allso think Ennis is a genius!

Posted by pikahyper

@edstone1: the current run of "Fatal Fantasy" covers have been excellent, God is Dead has some pretty good covers but other then that eh, Avatar used to be a lot better cover wise, they need Ryp back but he's probably too busy on Clone.

del mundo does amazing cover work, but i can't read an entire series with interior art in that style. Its good art, but it doesnt tell a story well for me. Love his covers though, i do not feel as awe struck as the mainstream does. People sweat his interior art for no reason, gimmie david lopez's work and il be a happy man, THAT is great comic book art. Del Mundo is a novelty act, stick to covers, people will grow tired of it.

Elektra cover was definitely my favorite of the week.
