Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 7/12/13

What covers did the staff love this week?

Welcome back to your home away from home. A place where you can curl up with your favorite WWF Wrestling Buddy and a warm cup of cocoa. Each week, the Comic Vine staff hops in their Snuggies and picks out some of their favorite comic book covers from the week, and presents them to you. It was another tough week, and hard to narrow it down to just five, so here's what we settled with.

First up, we have BATGIRL #22. This is a really cool looking cover, and we love the body outline right in front of Batgirl. Alex Garner put together this breathtaking cover. By far, this is our favorite one of the week. It looks amazing, and it's pretty dang stoic.

If you know me, then you know I'm a huge sucker for Silver Age comics, especially their covers. Here we have SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #2 by Yanick Paquette, Michel Lacombe, and Nathan Fairbairn. Will Superman leave Lois for the insect queen? Who knows?!

ZOMBIES! WALKING DEAD #112 makes it onto our list this week. This cover was put together by long time WALKING DEAD artist Charlie Adlard. This book is known for shaking things up, so seeing Andrea and Carl in complete shock, holding guns, only means something crazy happens here. Maybe Negan will finally die.

It's no secret that HAWKEYE is a favorite of most of the staff members on the site. It's also no secret that a few of us are huge Francesco Francavilla fan. Well, both of these favorites came together for HAWKEYE #12 this week. His art is always very eye catching, as well as his colors. This is another big stand-out for the week.

To finish out this week's cover picks, we have BLACK BAT #3. There were a few covers for this issue, and this was by far our favorite. It was drawn by Joe Benitez. It has a classic feel to it which fits the pulp-style of the book, and that background cityscape is super cool.

And there you have it, folks! That's our pick for this week's best covers! Do you think we missed out on something super-awesome? Let us know in the comment section, and remember, the more you use caps in your comment, the better you convey Internet Rage! See you next week!

short list and not much exceptional either... waste of interweb

Storm Dogs #6

Who still uses the word interweb? 2009 much? Geez. Anyway, I thought the variant for Batman was stronger than the regular one for the third month in a row. As a matter of fact, except for the stupid Mad variant, most of them are better.

Aww how was Batman 22 not on the list! Definitely my favorite of the week!

Tie for me this week, take your pick.

So many to choose. For me its the Benitez cover for Black Bat. Good stuff!

Yeah, those picks seem pretty standard.

I like that Indestructible Hulk #10 cover, very subtle how Daredevil's batons are covering the eyes of everyone else.

@colonelrunaway: change the hulk one with batgirl cover and I would agree:)

Agree with the batgirl cover.

@colonelrunaway: Nice, three of the 5 I collect (no Batman for me)

Love the classic feel of the Superman cover.

The Variant for Batman 22 looks awesome. Also a fan of the Old School Superman Unchained cover.

Is that superman unchained 2 cover a variant? Because that's not what mine looks like.

AHHHHH! I hate these covers except the Astro City cover. Who picked the Daredevil cover. I could have drawn that cover in my bathroom on the toilet. I hate that cover.

The Batgirl cover was definitely the best in my opinion.

I don't read the book but I think the Fearless Defenders cover takes the cake this week

I don't read either title, but Batgirl and Fearless Defenders had the best covers of the week. I loved the symbolism in Barbara's cover, and the Fearless Defenders just has a lot of awesome detail going on. The Indestructible Hulk was also very nice with the contrast of red and green between the characters.

Shock! Batwoman is in the top five covers of the week, not suprising as Batwoman has had the most consistent and brilliant covers, in my opinion.

Although I do have to admit that the covers for both Astro City and X-O Manowar were both excellent, and probably take the joint top spot for me in the best cover of the week.

Batgirl #22 is my favorite cover of the week!
