Prepare yourself for awesome covermania! Each week, we take the time to go through all the books that came out that week, and we pick out the what we think are the coolest looking covers. As you may have seen/heard/sensed, this was a giant week for books. Most of us went broke at our LCS, so we had a lot to choose from.
First up is my personal favorite comic book cover of the week, X-O MANOWAR #14 by Matthew Waite. As a fan of the original Metoid game for NES, this puts a big smile on my face. Us older folks will most likely appreciate this cover a bit more than the younger folks...
Ye olde G-Man brought this awesome cover to my attention. It's TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #23 by its creator Kevin Eastman. Looks like someone is about to get cut by the Foot Clan! Super cool layout for this cover. A few of us staff members have always really enjoyed Eastman's work.
I've always wanted a cover of just Hank Pym's face, and now I have it. This beautiful Sara Pichelli cover for AGE OF ULTRON #10AI says so much about the issue. We have Hank breaking through Ultron, and I love the amount of emotion Pichelli places in Pym's face. For me, it's one of the coolest covers of the week.
AQUAMAN #21 hit stores this week with a pretty sad cover of a lonely Aquaman trudging through a snowstorm all alone. Well, I'm not sure he's lonely, but this cover by Paul Pelletier and Rod Reis is pretty darn cool. I like seeing a character walk away. How often do we actually see the back of the main character on the cover?
Chris Samnee's work here, on DAREDEVIL #27, is awesome. I'm really digging that background which Foggy Nelson is standing on. It's a real eye catching piece, and I'm loving the contrast between the simplistic background, and the traditional character work here.
Lastly, we'll leave you with one of the various covers for JUPITER'S LEGACY #2. This one was drawn by Frank Quitely. It has a very cool perspective here, and the amount of detail Quitely puts into this is amazing, from the hairs in the beard, to the tiny details on the glove.
Now that you've seen what we loved, let us know which covers you thought were the best of the week in the comment section below! Make your voices heard!
