Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 5/23/14

Let's see what covers wowed us this week.

Welcome back to another edition of Best Comic Book Covers of the Week where we take a look at some of the most awesome looking comic covers. We also ask our followers on Twitter, and well as on our Facebook page, what they think as well. Let's get right down to business and check out some sweet art!

ELEKTRA #2 by Chris Samnee and Matthew Wilson

First up is ELEKTRA #2 by Chris Samnee and Matthew Wilson. Both of these covers were fantastic, but this one was our favorite and we love how this cover is set up and the color palate.

POWERS BUREAU #10 by Michael Avon Oeming

Next is POWERS BUREAU #10 by Michael Avon Oeming. What's great about this cover is how simple it is. The blood outlines the structure of the face and gives the sense of depth to the character's face.

BIRDS OF PREY #31 by Jorge Molina

Here we have BIRDS OF PREY #31 by Jorge Molina. The art work here is incredibly beautiful here and we love how the other characters appear within Batgirl's cape. Really cool layout.

Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir #1 by Chris Scalf

Next up is Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir #1 by Chris Scalf. This is a pretty fantastic looking cover. Scalf really put some great detail into Darth Maul's face and overall, it's a stunning cover.

Trinity of Sin Pandora #11 by Julian Totino Tedesco

Finally, we have Trinity of Sin Pandora #11 by Julian Totino Tedesco. This is one of the coolest covers of the week because it has such a great composition and it's pretty haunting. JTT has been doing some stunning work recently.

Here's what you guys voted for as your favorite cover.

HULK #3 by Jerome Opeña & Dean White

The cover you guys picked though Facebook and Twitter was HULK #3 by Jerome Opeña & Dean White. Lots going on here, but it looks great and the color work is extremely strong on this cover.

That's it for another weekly adventure with the best comic book covers of the week, we'll see you guys next week with a whole new batch of covers. Do you have a cover you simply love that we missed? Let us know in the comment section below! Also, make sure to check us out on Twitter and on Facebook to get your picks in for next week using #CVCovers, or just on on Comic Vine Facebook page.

Haven't picked up Powers in a while. That's a great cover though.

Wow! I thought Del Mundo's cover for Elektra was a no brainer.

I mean that cover should be hanging on a wall in the Louvre!

Noob question, today is friday. Are these covers for comics coming out next week, or comics that came out a few days ago?

@kravis: Damn that cover is great. Is it worth reading?

I kind of agree with the Elektra cover chosen. Del Mundo's beautiful but we get that within the covers. It's the juxtaposition and contrasts which makes the Samnee variant pull forward. Elektra with swords and ninjas and presented in slashes of red white and black are gorgeous and a big part of the character, but so is her solitude and self reflection and Samnee captured that. My opinion, anyway.
