Welcome back to another edition of Best Comic Book Covers of the Week where the staff of Comic Vine picks out their favorite covers for the week, and we also find out what our Twitter followers have to say as well. Let's get right down to business and find out what cool covers made our list this week.
THE SHADOW: YEAR ONE #8 by Chris Samnee
First up, this week is THE SHADOW: YEAR ONE #8 by Chris Samnee. This cover is full of action and sums up the book, as a whole, pretty well. What really stands out here is how The Shadow's cape, complete with bullet holes, makes up the title of the book.
RED SONJA #8 by Jenny Frison
Next is RED SONJA #8 by Jenny Frison. We love the way Red Sonja's hair floats here, giving the reader the effect of sitting on top of the water. Frison also uses the negative space of the cover extremely well.
MAGNETO #2 by Chris Samnee & Matthew Wilson
Once again, it's Chris Samnee, with Matthew Wilson, but this time for MAGNETO #2. While the art here is pretty amazing, the color work makes this piece a huge stand-out. It's an awesome issue that gets a very deserving awesome cover.
DETECTIVE COMICS #30 by Francis Manapul
Next up is DETECTIVE COMICS #30 by Francis Manapul. It's hard not to stare at this piece, and not just because it has a yellow background. Manapul uses a great layering technique to make this cover pop.
PRETTY DEADLY #5 by Emma Rios & Jordie Bellaire
Lastly, here's PRETTY DEADLY #5 by Emma Rios & Jordie Bellaire. Rios has done some dynamite covers for PRETTY DEADLY. Her layouts for the covers are always very engaging for the reader, and as always, Bellaire does wonders with her color work.
We asked our followers on Twitter what covers they loved and while a few of the responses were already on our list, we did get a few responses for this cover.
MOON KNIGHT #2 by Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire
Here's MOON KNIGHT #2 by Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire. You guys have a great eye when it comes to stand-out covers. After reading the issue, every aspect of this cover makes perfect sense. It's a wonderful piece.
