Welcome back to another fabulous edition of Best Comic Book Covers of the Week! Each week, the Comic Vine staff picks out their favorite covers and we tell you why they are so dang awesome. This week, we have some fantastic covers for you as well as a special surprise at the end of feature. Let's get right down to business and take a look at some covers.
DEADPOOL #25 by Phil Noto
First on our list this week is DEADPOOL #25 by Phil Noto. This is one of the many variant covers for this issue and one of our favorites because it's pretty ridiculous and funny without jamming humor down your throat. Noto's work is soft and subtle, and he uses the negative space here well to really get the reader's focus on Deadpool and his ladies.
ROYALS: MASTERS OF WAR #2 by Simon Coleby & JD Mettler
Next, we have ROYALS: MASTERS OF WAR #2 by Simon Coleby and colorist JD Mettler. We really love Coleby's art on here and Mettler's colors. It makes you feel like you caught a moment in time here, and the blurring on the plane really adds to that effect. It's always nice to also see someone saluting while flying as well.
MAGNUS: ROBOT FIGHTER #1 by Ken Haeser
Here is the cover for MAGNUS: ROBOT FIGHTER #1 by Ken Haeser. I'm a sucker for these cute covers and what is utterly fantastic about this is not only the fact that the adorable Magnus is fighting robots, which is something he does best, but it's Rock Em' Sock Em' Robots style! He's really knocking his block off!
JUDGE DREDD #17 by Michael Avon Oeming
Coming up next is the cover for JUDGE DREDD #17 by Michael Avon Oeming. This pullbox subscription version of JUDGE DREDD really took me back for a moment. What's so captivating here is really the layout of the book. We love how the mask flows into the scene Oeming is portraying here and it's unusual in a really cool way.
BLACK WIDOW #4 by Phil Noto
Finally, we have BLACK WIDOW #4 by Phil Noto. Yes, we're bookending our picks with more of Phil Noto. It's pretty obvious that we have a thing for Noto's work because it's always here, but he does a great job at telling the story of the issue on his covers without giving away everything. Plus, it doesn't hurt that his art is pretty dang beautiful.
Twitter Picks
We decided to do something a little different this week. Much like our Twitter Question of the Week feature, we decided to ask our followers on Twitter what their favorite covers were using #CVCovers. It was our first week trying this out, but we did find out there were a couple covers in particular our followers loved.
SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #6 by Tony Daniel, Matt Banning, and Tomeu Morey
Our first Twit-pick is SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #6 by Tony Daniel, Matt Banning, and Tomeu Morey. It's a truly cool cover featuring the classic tale of good verses evil, and Daniel's design work is always stunning. It shows the reader that these are perfectly matched beings about to embark in one hell of a fight.
DEADPOOL #25 by Mark Brooks
Our second Twit-pick is DEADPOOL #25 by Mark Brooks. Honestly, this came EXTREMELY close to making it onto this week's list because it's a really cool cover with a fantastic sense of humor. The color work and shading here are nothing short of perfect.
