Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 2/13/14

Check out what covers we loved this week!

Welcome back! As you may or may not know, each week, we fine folks here at Comic Vine discuss the coolest comic book covers of the week and put them into a delightful little package for you fine folks here. This week, there were some really cool covers that caught our eye, so let's take a look at what we thought was the coolest covers for the week of February 14th, 2014.

DEADPOOL #23 by Mark Brooks

First on the list this week is DEADPOOL #23 by Mark Brooks. Not only is the design and color work incredibly beautiful, but it's an homage to one amazing film. This cover really captures the overall light-hearted spirit of this book.

BATGIRL #28 by Alex Garner

Coming up next, on our list, is BATGIRL #28 by Alex Garner. We seem to have a bit of a cover crush of Garner's work, since BATGIRL appears pretty regularly on here. The was he places the characters, on the cover, is always interesting and the color work here is fantastic.

ALL NEW X-MEN #23 by Dale Keown (Variant)

Next, we have the variant cover to ALL NEW X-MEN #23 by Dale Keown. Keown always does some great work and the amount of detail he puts into Groot is fantastic. What we really love about the cover is that it's one fantastic joke. We finally get to see what Groot is thinking when he says "I am Groot."

BATMAN #28 by Dustin Nguyen

Here with BATMAN #28 by Dustin Nguyen, we get something a bit different. There are no characters or familiar faces on this cover. It's simply a lock to a cell, with a batsymbol. The color work here here is awesome and we love the light hitting the lock. This is one super-cool cover.

KICK-ASS 3 #6 by Jerome Opeña & Dave McCaig

Finally, we have KICK-ASS 3 #6 by Jerome Opeña & Dave McCaig. We love this classic look to this cover on top, which quickly turns ultra-violent as your eyes move down the page. McCaig does wonders with colors here to give this cover a very classic look.

That's it for another weekly adventure with the best comic book covers of the week, we'll see you guys next week with a whole new batch of covers. Do you have a cover you simply love that we missed? Let us know in the comment section below!

I didn't know Nguyen did the cover for Batman #28 too. I assumed it was by Jock.

Deadpool cover the best and All New X-Men hilarious.

My comic shop didn't have this one, but it's my favorite of all the animal variants:

(Is the fox Ran Shen?)

That Deadpool cover is fantastic.

Groot is SO SWEET!

Love that Batman one.

I love the symbolism behind the Batman cover because it's a paradoxical conundrum of things to come yet we see how Batman is locked in his mind about the nature of his mission coupled with how he feels imprisoned by his beliefs and steadfast in his resolve.

Now I'm just messing with ya. I just like to get the anti-Batman faction all worked up by putting too much thought into it. xD

@xwraith: I think it's Batroc the Leaper.

Good covers this week. Out of those listed the Batman cover is the best. But this is my favorite for the week! Darth Vader!!!!!

@mak13131313: Star Wars never has a bad cover. Shame that the book itself is so dull.

I love Alex Garner, he did some great Wonder Woman covers. But the Batman one is rather eye-catching, it sort of says less but actually means more (if you know what I mean.)

I liked the She-Hulk #1 cover:

Love the Kick-Ass and Deadpool ones a lot.

I have to agree with the majority of choices here, though the Batgirl one doesn't seem as defensible when compared against Winter Soldier (main), She-Hulk, or Star Wars.

Deadpool and Kick-Ass 3 are my favorites on here.

@xwraith: The stories can be a little dull at times but overall I like them.

@mak13131313: I do have to give Brian Wood credit for being the first person to use Wedge in a long time (even though he's just "there").

I always wondered if there was more going on in Groot's mind that "I am Groot." Well, that's one mystery solved!

Couldn't agree more on the Opena Kick Ass 3 variant. All three covers were so great it took my a while to choose which one I would get. But I ended up choosing the Opena one.
