Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 1/24/14

It was a HUGE week for great looking covers.

Welcome to another edition of Best Comic Book Covers of the Week! Every Friday, the staff at Comic Vine takes a look at all the comics that came out on Wednesday and decides which covers were the coolest. This week was an insane week. Before we made a few small cuts, the original list was 11 covers long. So get ready for a longer than usual best covers list!

HARLEY QUINN #2 by Amanda Conner

To kick off a huge week of covers is HARLEY QUINN #2 by Amanda Conner. This is one adorable cover as Harley curls up with some fluffy friends, all of which are covered in blood. Personally, I like the pug and the turtle the best.

ALL NEW INVADERS #1 by John Cassaday

Next up is ALL NEW INVADERS #1 by John Cassaday. The art isn't necessarily what won us over here. The page layout, forever, is fantastic. We really like seeing the Invaders of old behind where these characters are now.

ORIGIN II #2 by Adam Kubert

Here we have ORIGIN II #2 by Adam Kubert. This cover gives us an extreme close-up on Victor Creed, and while to overall art looks fantastic, look at that beard hair. It's the tiny details which really make this cover stand out.

ALL NEW X-FACTOR #2 by J Scott Campbell

The next cover on our list is ALL NEW X-FACTOR #2 by J Scott Campbell. This is a really fun cover. We get to see the whole team, the color really makes it pop, and there's a giant "X" on it. What more could you want from an X-title?

DEADLY CLASS #1 by Wes Craig

DEADLY CLASS #1 came out this week with a whole bunch of covers from some amazing artists. This was one of our favorites, but Wes Craig and Lee Loughridge. The overall cover has a great set-up, and it's just a very hip piece of art.

BATMAN #27 by Greg Capullo

From your darkest nightmares comes the cover of BATMAN #27 by Greg Capullo. The background here is really cool, especially with how Capullo shaded it. The actual depiction of Batman here or Dr. Death as Batman, will keep me up for weeks.

BATWOMAN #27 by Stephane Roux

Ahh! Spiders! Well, that's what I'd be shouting if I was Batwoman on the cover of BATWOMAN #27 by Stephane Roux. The layout of this cover is awesome, but what really caught our attention was how amazing the lighting and shadow work looks on the background.

FF #16 by Mike Allred

All good things must come to an end. While I hate that saying, I also hate this book ending. Here's FF #16 by Mike Allred. His style is just so cool and Laura's colors look fantastic. It's great to see his art and this team on a cover for another month.

Black Widow #2 by Frank Cho

Originally, Phil Noto's cover was on this list until we saw this variant by Frank Cho for Black Widow #2. This cover is insane. Look at all that line work! This is one of the coolest and craziest Frank Cho covers yet! Everything about it is extremely rad. Yep, I said "rad."

We'll see you guys next week! As always, if there's a cover you think we missed out on, put it in the comment section.

Bently on that FF cover is fantastic. I already miss that series.

That Harley Quinn cover is too cute.

Deadly Class and FF. X-Factor is my lest favorite on here (cover wise) and what the hell happened to the Batwoman covers? Nothing compared to the JHWIII covers.

That invaders that a joke?

Posted by Outside_85

No, no, no...I just skimmed over them and none of them stood out as being exceptional in any way.

...And how is that FF cover even a contender?

Posted by Mucklefluga

Noooooo, the All-New Invaders one suuuuucks. Batman is the greatest ever.

Posted by LyraFay

Yep, that Batman one sends shivers down your spine!

Love the Black Widow, Origin, Dead Class, and Batman covers.

The Deadly Class and Black Widow variants are awesome. Think FF is still my favorite though.

Deadly Class, FF, and Black Widow are my faves here.

Wait so bucky is not a good guy? Goddamn it Marvel, I can't keep up with you...also kind of weird to use him as a villain for the new Cap movie if he is now a good guy.

Btw is that Johnny Storm in All New Invaders?

Edited by BR_Havoc

@outside_85: Because its the ultra stylized and awesome art of Mike Allred.

Lots of fantastic covers this week really loved the Harley Quinn cover who would of thought that Harley plus cute animals with blood splattered on them could be so adorable.

Also Cho's variant is breathtaking I rarely pick up variants, but I will have to track that one down.

That All-New Invaders cover looks pretty bad IMO.

I would of put the regular X-Factor cover there instead.

Deadly Class's interiors look so much better than the cover, and I never get to say that about a comic...... Those page layouts are amazing..... Someone is going to win a Esiner this year.

How come Wonder Woman 27 wasn't here? It was actually a pretty great cover

Wow Cassaday has really dropped in quality... What's up with the Torch? Where did his legs go?

Posted by GraniteSoldier

Be honest the only one of these I think is awesome is the Black Widow one. I've never been a fan of the FF covers, personally.

Super meh on most of these this week. Digging Batman #27 and the All-New X-Factor variant, but the rest I'm not liking. I would've put the regular Black Widow #2 cover there instead of the variant, for one.

Batman and Harley Quinn covers are the best and these....

Posted by AlwaysTheBigSpoon

Wow. I wouldn't mind Frank Cho taking the reigns from Phil Noto for a few issues. Black Widow looks real pretty and at the same time her facial expression, or lack of, is intimidatingly haunting.

Wonder Woman was my favorite.

Eh, most are a little underwhelming this week. Black Widow if definitely the best one though.

That Batman one is pretty creepy

DC's really embracing the grimdark thing.

When I saw the batman cover I knew it'd be in the best of the week

The walking dead 120 cover was awesome!!!!

can not believe it did not make the cut..

Posted by SkullKnight

The Black Widow cover with Death is simply jaw dropping.

Edited by Overlander

Not so into the Capullo cover...maybe I'm just taking his art for granted.

Posted by DCWarFan73

what's not to love about Doc Spidey getting punched by Luke Cage?

Edited by Zeeguy91

Ugh, that X Factor cover is ugly! The all of the figures look anorexic and it lacks any sort of balance. I would have put the regular X Factor cover up there instead.

Edited by psychomaniac1

Frank Cho all day;look the death it's simply awesome!!!
