Best Battles in New Comics: 4/17/15

This week, we're featuring fights from CONVERGENCE #2, THOR #7, and CONVERGENCE: GREEN LANTERN/PARALLAX #1.

It's that time of the week. Time to look at the latest edition of Best Battles in New Comics. Comics often feature big battles with superheroes fighting supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer and possibly cringe at the brutal punches being thrown.

CONVERGENCE #2

When Telos, the planet outside time and space that the ultimate version of Brainiac placed cities from different universes, discovered survivors from EARTH 2 without a city of their own, he decided to contain them and drop the domes to get the worlds to fight each other. With the survivors from Earth 2 including Val-Zod and Alan Scott, they're not going to simply allow themselves to be contained without putting up a fight.

Of course a punch, even a super-punch isn't going to stop Telos. Alan Scott tries tapping into the planet's life force to add to the fight. But this is no ordinary planet.

Can you believe it? They defeated Telos. Story over. Let's all go home now.

Actually, they didn't defeat him. You can't use the power of the planet to stop him if he actually is one with the planet. That means the fight must continue. Val-Zod hits him again...and again...and again.

Is that enough? The fight does come to an end. You'll have to read the issue to see what happens next.

THOR #7

This new Thor just can't catch a break. Odinson (the former Thor) may have given her his blessings to wield Mjolnir but Odin does not approve. Odin brought his brother, Cul Borson, the Serpent, to control the Destroyer to reclaim Mjolnir.

The bad news for Thor is Destroyer is able to take Mjolnir. Cul is pleased by this but Odin points out he's not lifting it. It's simply the Destroyer holding it, "One weapon lifting another." Okay, but that's still bad news for Thor.

This Thor has shown she has some different tricks up her sleeves. If Destroyer is intent on keeping a firm grip on Mjolnir, she's going to show it that she still has control over the hammer.

She gives Destroyer, and Cul, a ride they'll never forget. All this destruction also serves another purpose for Thor in her other fight. It all leads to a pretty light show.

And you know what? That's just round one. The story's not over yet.

CONVERGENCE: GREEN LANTERN/PARALLAX #1

On the world we see here, the dome was put in place right at the height of Hal Jordan's evil reign as Parallax. That left him, and everyone else powerless. This allowed Hal to feel some remorse over his actions. When the dome fell, Kyle Rayner was meant to be the champion fighting for the survival of this world. When he's attacked from behind while trying to talk Hal into keeping Parallax in check, Hal responds in his own way.

Hal attacks the forces of Princess Fern and her army.

They are no match for Parallax. Princess Fern even tries using her plant elemental powers to grab and bind Hal. As you can imagine, he breaks free with ease.

Hal realizes this fight is pretty much over and going nowhere. He sets out to find their city of Electropolis. That probably won't go too well for them.

That's it for this week.
