It's time to enjoy some awesome action scenes! This week, we're featuring fights from AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS, THOR, and DEADPOOL'S ART OF WAR!

Hey there, reader, thanks for checking out the latest edition of Best Battles. You're here because you want to see fictional characters getting into all kinds of chaos, and we think you'll have a good time with the action scenes we've selected. We have a look at the mayhem in Marvel's latest big event, a new powerhouse throwing down with titans, and all kinds of chaos that occurs when Loki foolishly decides to attack Midgard. Not cool, Loki. Anyway, once you're done looking at the pictures and reading why we picked these fights, go ahead and tell the world what your three favorite action scenes are from the latest wave of new comics. You just may motivate someone else out there to buy the comic, and doesn't supporting what you love just warm your heart?

AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #7

Our fist highlight comes from Rick Remender, Adam Kubert, Edgar Delgado and Jesus Aburtov. Now, some of you are avoiding big events or you've just fallen behind, so here's all you need to know to understand the following: The good characters -- mostly the X-Men and Avengers -- have become evil jerks and the not-so-nice characters have become friendly and sincerely want to help others. For example, remember Evan, the young version of Apocalypse who the X-Men were raising so they could prevent him from become a towering, genocidal villain? Well, thanks to AXIS, that's exactly what he's become. And the lovable and polite Nightcrawler? He's not the nicest dude around anymore. The X-Men, who are now terrible people, have created a bomb that'll kill all humans (Bender would be proud). It's ticking away and the new "heroes" want to stop it. Deadpool and Spider-Man are the first to spot Apocalypse, but what can the possibly do against this huge threat? The answer is exactly what you think it is: not much. Wade and Pete don't really stand a chance against the powerhouse. The merc with a mouth's agility serves him well, but one can only evade for so long.

En Sabah Pun.
En Sabah Pun.

The fight goes crashing out of the building and, as if the odds weren't already stacked against the two, the blue elf decides to show up and make things even more complicated and all kinds of unfortunate for Deadpool and Spider-Man. Luckily for them, there's a massive brawl going on nearby and one especially heroic character has escaped the fray and will arrive just in time to save Spidey from the teleporter's sword. Who's that brave and noble hero, you ask? Why, it's none other than your friendly neighborhood Carnage!

"Ol' Papa Carnage." There's your new series, Marvel.

As the bomb continues to count down, the evil X-Men continue to hold their own against anyone who stands in their way. Sabretooth may be swift and deadly and his an always reliable healing factor, but against the X-Men, he's in for quite a fight. Now that they're no longer holding back, that means this spells bad news for Sabretooth fans. The guy has some epic fights with Wolverine, but he's been getting beat up quite a lot over the past several years. Yes, this is going to be yet another showing where Wolvie's longtime foe ends up on the floor and in a whole lot of pain. Victor's just lucky Cyclops and Havok didn't unleash as well!

One day Sabretooth won't look like a total chump. One day...

We won't spoil how the fight with Apocalypse ends, but we'll give you a bit of a hint and call it "brutal." Very, very brutal. On top of the bloody turn of events, there's a ginormous development in this issue, one that is sure to have readers pretty divided. No matter where you stand on the story and the changes it brings about, the melees are good fun and that's exactly what you all came here to see, right?

THOR #3

The next highlight comes from Jason Aaron, Russel Dauterman and Matthew Wilson. The Goddess of Thunder has already been separated from Mjolnir and she has to take on several Frost Giants! Long story short: The iconic weapon's stuck in a room that happens to have walls and a door made of adamantium and vibranium. Bummer for her, yeah? For fans of the comic, we're wondering how she'll overcome and make it out of the tense situation. For people who hate this new comic, you're probably laughing at her slip up and, let's be honest here, you should just save yourself some stress and skip to the next highlight. Anyway, the Frost Giants think this new character is defenseless without the hammer, so one of them freezes her (with some spit, because they're polite like that) and tosses her right into his mouth, thinking she's just a yummy snack and no longer a problem. Except that Frost Giant severely underestimated this new heroine and that mistake is about to cost him his life in a very savage way.

Ever wondered what it would look like if a Frost Giant's head blew up? THOR #3 has you covered.

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall." When it comes to big villains, that usually isn't the case. It's often "the bigger they are, the more powers they have and the more likely they are to humiliate an entire team of heroes for a good amount of time before eventually losing." It's a long saying, but it's usually the case. These Frost Giants may have a giant size advantage on the new character and she may not have her key weapon, but that's not going to stop her from giving this fight everything she's got. And you know what? It turns out all that she's got is more than enough to handle these frosty fools. She knows the hammer chose her for a reason and she's not going to quit, so she unleashes with their own weapons. A small person carrying such a big weapon against humongous enemies may look amusing, but it's no joke and she annihilates them.

Way to go, *insert real name here*!

As the Goddess of Thunder embarrasses the giants from Jotunheim, Dario Agger finds himself squaring off against Malekith. Who's more arrogant? Who's the more formidable bad guy? Aaron makes sure it's an amusing exchange of words between these two and then quickly reveals the dark elf's magic is going to give him quite an edge against Dario's brute force. You can't hurt what you can't hit!

Does Dario have anything to help even the odds or is it a completely one-sided fight between these two villains? And what does the Goddess of Thunder do to keep these Frost Giants down for the count? If you're still strongly against the idea of this new heroine, go spend your money elsewhere. For everyone else, Aaron's continuing the strong work he began in THOR: GOD OF THUNDER and this issue's cliffhanger is definitely an attention-grabber.

DEADPOOL'S ART OF WAR #3

Our final highlight comes from Peter David, Scott Koblish and Val Staples. Wade's convinced Loki to gather an army and take midgard by storm, but as you may remember, Midgard has like, a ridiculous amount of powerful heroes. Loki's forces made a strong entrance, but it isn't long before more and more familiar faces begin to show up. Remember how fun it was when Hulk humiliated Loki in The Avengers? Of course you do. Would you like to see it happen all over again? Of course you would. Enjoy.

"I understood that reference."

As war erupts on the surface, the Mole Man prepares to take advantage of the situation and unleash his own army. So, as Mole Man and his wave on minions keep the green goliath busy, who's going to protect all of the innocent people from Loki's flood of soldiers? Captain America and a gazillion other heroes, that's who! The God of Mischief may have numbers on his side, but that just means there's even more characters for Earth's champions to obliterate and punch in the face really, really hard.

I bet Luke Cage knew that guy didn't have a dental plan, too. Harsh.

As the Avengers and other heroes protect one part of New York, Hulk defeats the seemingly endless flood of minions and has no problem whatsoever smashing Mole Man's face into the ground. However, once he returns to the surface, he isn't greeted by people celebrating his victory; he's surrounded by even more of Loki's goons. Like, a lot of them. You can even spot Ulik in the mix. Luckily for Hulk, Marvel's first family shows up to help save the day! Man, things really aren't going well for Loki, are they?

Glance by that panel and it can look like Thing really doesn't like Cher. Hulk, however, is a fan.

Believe it or not, even more characters eventually enter the war zone! "Deadpool is in the title and he's nowhere to be found. What gives?" His moment in the battle is saved until the very end, so we don't want to spoil that for you. It's totally worth the wait. It's funny and a nice reminder of how dangerous he can be. Wade fans are more than likely going to be very thrilled about the way he's handled in that scene. Seriously, this limited series is a crazy amount of non-canon fun.
