Bendis To Work On Upcoming 'POWERS' TV Series

The 'Avengers' writer is ready for a new project!

The 'Avengers' writer is ready for a new project!

Powers #1
We reported way back that there was going to be a live-action television adaptation of 'POWERS' airing on FX, but did not hear anything about it for a rather long time. We finally got a little bit of news on the project, though! According to a report, it seems that ' POWERS' writer Brian Michael Bendis is on board with the proposed series with Kevin Falls who was Executive Producer for NBC's "Journeyman."

The prospect of a POWERS live adaptation has been in the rumor mill for some time now and Bendis' name has been attached for quite a while.  It has been confirmed, however, by FX's President and General Manager John Landgraf that both Bendis and Falls are attached to the project and that it may be necessary to make some alterations on the story in order to adapt it onto the small screen.

"[You're] asking yourself the question, 'What stays and what goes?'" Landgraf posited. "For example, the Retro Girl murder story: should that whole story be told in the pilot, or do we introduce it and tell it later? But the new writer [now identified as Falls] and Brian have got a good take on it. They came in about two months ago and pitched what they were doing, and it was great."

Powers #4
It seems that Bendis is looking forward to the project and to working with Falls, citing that he did not expect someone of Falls' caliber to work on the series with him.

Bendis described Falls as a creative talent "[much] higher up on the food chain than I thought we were going to get."

Recently, Marvel has relaunched POWERS through their ICON label. If you have never read powers, you should check it out. It is, afterall, one of Captain Cascader's favorite comics! Have you read POWERS? Are you currently reading the new series?

YESS!!!  He was talking about this when he came to Greensboro and I am so happy that it's coming  to TV finally!  I love Powers and can't wait it to see series.

I haven't read it, but I am looking forward to a televesion series.
The premise seems original in the super-hero television genre and would be interesting to see on screen. (: Sort of a 'Watchmen' meets 'CSI'.

I'd like the Retro Girl murder to span throughout the whole season, much like season 1 of Veronica Mars, if you haven't seen it, you should. Theres a murder mystery that happens in the pilot and we see clues and hints before the killer is revealed in the season finale. It's good and keeps you at the edge of your seat.

You can't ruin something you created.

@InnerVenom123: Well considering he's the creator of POWERS, he should be able to do whatever he wants with it.  But it's a great book.  Check out that old video of Captain Cascader talking about the book...hmmm...where has Captain Cascader been?  I wonder if Red LAMP did something to him.

Ruin?! Bendis is the one who wrote POWERS in the first place! And by the way, it is pretty awesome, I only read 10 issues of volume one, the rest are still lying around somewhere... BUT I can't wait for the show! Hopefully it will replace Heroes cause that just kinda lost it's spark... A long time ago...
