Ben Kingsley Appearing in Another Marvel Project

It looks like Marvel Studios isn't finished with Kingsley's character! But where will we see the man turn up next?

It looks like we haven't seen the last of "the Mandarin!" Sir Ben Kinglsey has informed The Belfast Telegraph he's working on a "secret Marvel project." He stated the project allowed him to reunite with some of Iron Man's 3 crew and called it a "wonderful family." Additionally, the actor spoke very highly of the people involved. "I think they have enormous taste as creative artists. There's nothing lazy or gratuitous about their work. They are at the top of their game, and they're great company to keep."

Where do you think he'll make his next appearance? We know Tony Stark will be in the upcoming Avengers films, but, as of right now, there's no word on whether he'd get another solo film and, honestly, it doesn't seem like they can use this character for anything more than some solid comedic material. Could this be another one-shot Marvel is planning for one of their upcoming blu-ray/DVDs and, if so, which one? Like the actor said in his interview, we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, enjoy speculating with your fellow Viners below.

We seen enough in Iron Man 3, so thanks no :)

Hopefully it will be Mandarin Done Properly, and not Iron Man 3.1 How To Dissapoint An Audience.

As long as the script doesn't tell him to ruin a promising role.

Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee

Is he going to be a new character or continue his role as "The Mandarin?"

Because if it's as "Mandarin" then I'm hoping him being an actor was all a disguise and he'll reveal himself to be a true mastermind and become a major villain.

As long as there's no shenanigans this time then so be it.

Good things can go like I expected after Avengers 2 or Guardians or whatever some alien tech hits Sir Ben on the head and he belives he is the Mandarin he played for Killian, thus giving us a Mandarin still in line with the comics

Only way for the movie to redeem itself

I really liked IM3. I understand the negative feedback about The Mandarin especially after the trailers, but I found it really funny.

Maybe this will be the transformation of British actor Trevor Slattery into the REAL MANDARIN. Trevor Slattery feeling bolder than ever having gotten away with the biggest prank to be played on the world decides to make his way as a real villain. He learns of 10 magical rings hidden away in China and lost by the passage of time. Researching the rings he learns of their last known location, finds them and them becomes the ALL-POWERFUL MANDARIN. He sets his sights on taking down Iron Man, the hero that defeated his previous employer Aldrich Killian proving once and for all that he was the better man!

Marvel Studios: "Hey fans! You remember that twist that we did that completely ruined an iconic Iron Man character on film?! You remember the disappointment that you felt at that time?! Well, fear not, we're bringing some of more of exactly what you felt to rub it in a little deeper so you can see just how much we don't really care about your opinions!"

People complaining about the Mandarin, I hope he continues on with his character trying to impersonate some big scary boogy-man but still just being a washed up actor. It was the funniest thing in that movie and people who complain about it ruining the character are being foolish.

It's Ben Kingsley, I've got no problems here!

Wow, I had no idea people hated Iron Man 3 and his character so much! His 'reveal' is my all time favourite film twist. I loved it. It was bold and daring and ridiculous.

The only part of the film I wasn't a big fan of was the all-over-the-place ending. Otherwise, best Iron Man film imo!

I reckon it's one of those shorts like 'Whatever happened on the way to Thor's hammer' and the others like that.

Did people really think that Kingsley as a terrorist was good? He was like what a child would write a terrorist. I thought that it was good as a twist. Killian was much more like the mandarin as he was lately in the books.

Well... as I've told many time since Iron Man 3... Marval CAN still use "The Mandarin", the TRUE Mandarin, furious for all the crime made in is name and for making him a joke, and showing "Who is the True Mandarin!"...

And Ben Kingsley maybe his victim! Ora I may play the role of the True Mandarin, and that of Iron Man 3 may be not a simple "actor" but a "sosia"...

[sorry for my poor english :) ]

I'd think they would use him as a voice actor

Posted by sentryman555

It would be cool if they said like Ben Kingsley's character was basing his Mandarin off of research he had done about the REAL Mandarin. Going so far as to even imitate how he looks. Then the real Mandarin could come out of secrecy and kill the fake mandarin for broadcasting his image. And thus we'll have the real Mandarin finally ready to make a mark on the world.

I loved Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin! His character never took himself seriously. The movie didn't take itself seriously. MANDARIN WAS AWESOME!!!

Well, Trevor is an actor.

Posted by LordRequiem

Trevor Slattery returns.

Posted by SlickyMike88

As long as he is not played for laughs.

Posted by TheCheeseStabber

I bet the whole thing was him actually acting just like he said he was.

He ust wanted to see Tony face to face and absorb data about him and his suits by acting like an idiot.

He was playing everyone the whole time

Posted by Lvenger

(Sigh) To see a respectable actor like Ben Kingsley play a disrespectful role in Iron Man 3 is a disservice to Marvel studios. It should have been left to die out.

Such a waste of a fine actor.

I am not amused...

Edited by MaccyD

@matteopg: Yeah but Killian was a much more forgettable villain and tbh just another "suit" villain of Iron man, not to mention his terrible motive.

JUSTIN HAMMER AND TREVOR SLATTERY BUDDY COMEDY SPECIAL

PLEASE

Posted by TheUnN4med

Well, that's like a big "F&%k you" to the fans.

Hopefully it will be something to fix the God awful plot holes in Iron Man 3. If it's just going to be more tedious rubbish about 'Trevor' I'm not interested.

I absolutely love how pissed off people still are about this. It was pure genius by Marvel, they kept it hidden perfectly until the movie premiered and when the twist was revealed it was comedy gold. You guys need to lighten up a bit and understand that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not do everything the same way the comics have, otherwise that would be just plain boring.

Posted by nappystr8

Clearly he'll be playing Robert Downey Jr. playing Iron Man when the contract runs out.

Posted by Wilbertus

I, for one, really liked the twist. It was daring, creative and caught me totally by surprise. I thought it was very funny and so I see no issues with him returning in the same role. Besides, it's Ben Kingsley people!

Posted by MartianManhunterIsBetterThanCyborg

He better actually be a major villain. I want to see justice done to the Mandarin.

HAVEN'T YOU RUINED OUR LIVES ENOUGH!?

You'll never see me coming.

maybe they'll go : HE REALLY WAS THE MANDARIN ALL ALONG!!!

but i doubt it

I think Mandarin was a joke before the movie, but at least this time the joke was funny.
