Behind The Scenes of The Walking Dead

Check out the new clip from AMC!

Everyone loves zombies, right? No, seriously. If I can start appreciating the concept of walking dead then everyone can- especially if they have read The Walking Dead. The graphic novel series which showcases zombies crawling all over Atlanta, Georgia and feeding on human flesh might be disgusting- but it is far from being what the story is all about. This zombie literary masterpiece is more a story about the human condition, and the fight to persevere through extinction than it is about the epidemic itself. It is a story where the reader will slowly grow to learn and appreciate the characters and the everyday decisions they are faced with- and is one show I absolutely cannot wait to watch this fall. And I don't even really like TV!

As we've been discussing the last couple of months, AMC is adapting Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead starting this Halloween, and t hey have been really good about giving behind the scenes footage of the set and the show's characters as well as character studies from the actors. In the recent video clip, the show's Director and actors discuss what they feel are the most compelling aspects of the television series, and how the vision for the show is so closely aligned with Robert Kirkman's graphic novel. Check it out above!

Are the clips selling you on this brand new series as much as they are me? If you are a fan of Kirkman's The Walking Dead, do you feel there are concepts that are crucial to the success of the television series? Things they absolutely should not change?

@Babs:  very well put Babs....I always thought that it was very hard to describe The Walking Dead but you hit the nail on the head...I may have to quote you when people ask me about the book

I'm so pleased to hear that Darabont has a firm grip on what makes The Walking Dead such a good comic. As opposed to being a director brought on the project he sought it out and I think that's really going to make a huge difference in the final product. Everything I've seen about the show only makes me more excited.

I am concerned that it may not go to the same lengths Kirkman has in regards to some of the more brutal scenes from the book, but I have faith they'll find a more tasteful way to make the same emotional impact.

They were a tad bit too harpy on "This isn't really about the zombies...but if you're into that it will totally be about the zombies!" Some producer told them to play both sides to get a bigger audience, and they basically all explain it like that.

But in all seriousness, this show is gonna be crazy awesome.

Babs, have you seen any of the past zombie movies? If so, which one was your favorite? I liked Night of the Living Dead black and white classic.

Yup... Still excited.

i'm glad to see the actors understand that main premise of the show and idea behind the Walking Dead. glad to see they are taking it more serious than just another zombie story.
