Batman: Under The Hood Animated Movie Update

Guess who's writing it?


Earlier this week, word got out that DC's next animated PG-13 movie would be Batman: Under The Hood.  It was referred to as "Under The RED Hood" but an update from Mania now has it simply titled "Under The Hood."  This makes more sense considering who is writing.
 
Judd Winick will be writing the script.  Winick also wrote the storyline that the movie is based on, Batman #635-641.  That's good news for those of us that have read the story.  
 
The story will deal with a mysterious villain known as the Red Hood apparently returning to Gotham.  This was the identity that the Joker first used before falling into the vat of chemicals that transformed him into his current state.  The return of the Red Hood sees him as an anti-hero and soon pushes a gang war between Black Mask and the Joker to erupt.  Of course we know who is really under the Hood here.  Is everyone aware?  Should we avoid mentioning who in case there are still people that don't know or haven't read it?
 
I know people are complaining that we're getting too many appearances of Batman in these animated movies.  That may be the case but I have to say I'm excited to see this story adapted.  How about you?

I am glad this isn't based on the Joker Hood, seeing Winick's tale told in animated form will be much better and expose more new characters to viewers. Yay! Amazo fight should play itself well to animation.

Can't wait!  The animated features may have a lot of Batman in them but.......that is not a bad thing, he has one of the best stories and supporting characters.  I think the next one DC should do though is a Flash origin, with maybe a Hal Jorden Cameo in it, sience they turn out to be buds.

Glad to hear about Black Mask.  Batman will always appear the most for 2 reasons: 1- he's had 2 very successful movies, 2-he has the best stories in DC period.

Um when are they gonna stop making Bats animated Films... I swear fanboys ruin everything... their milking Bats again... Jesus.... i wish we got something different... and another thing WHy isnt MArvel making ANimated Films I know MArvels Kicking Ass on Live Action Films... and DC well they got Dark Knight but... still common we only have Ultimate Avengers 1 and 2 then Young Avengers thats it... COmmon Man...

Hopefully they will be better than the PE toyline, I bought Batman but Glacier looked dumb and does anyone care about Major Force?

I concur,  I love how the Flash works in animation and it should be fun.  But you still can't get enough batman

im... afraid.
i re-read Under The Hood and Hush every couple of months. i love them.
...but these movies have a habit of skipping over the awesome because they would rather have a big name do it (example being switching the ending for Public Enemies)  or changing the story because they dont think it made sense (likechanging the events in Public Enemies and Superman/Doomsday).
 will they put in the cool fight with Onyx? are they going to put in The Black Mask, or replace him with someone like Penguine or Two Face? Count Vertigo and Captain Nazi? is Amazo high profile enough to make the cut? how bout Zatanna  and Green Arrow?
 and hoods actual story starts in hush, goes trough another story, and ends in Under The Hood. so will they even mention those, or just act like they never existed?
 this is the fear i've been harboring since they started this cartoon movie fad. That they would start getting to their really good stories, and fudge them up. How am i suposed to get the teens i work with or my girlfriend interested in comics when the movies (which they will undoubtedly watch) dont match up with the comics? It keeps happening. with X-Men and Wolverine, with all of these new movies that cut out characters becuase they dont think their good enough. People ask me to explain, and they get confused becuase what they know is half wrong and therefore half different from what i'm telling them... and then they dont care anymore.

I bought this book on E bay just the other day I havnt read it yet but It looks really good and I like any Batman animated movie so this one should be good as well.
