Batman "Strange Days" Short Directed by Bruce Timm

Batman celebrates 75 years by having legendary Batman The Animated Series director return for one more short.

The name Bruce Timm resonates with a whole generation of Batman fans. He helped launch one of the greatest animated series of all time, during the 90s, Batman: The Animated Series. Without a doubt, it reshaped how people look at the character of Batman, and now, on April 9th, after Teen Titans Go, Bruce Timm will return to direct Batman in a short called "Strange Days" to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary.

Here's the brief synopsis for the short.

A brand new short from producer Bruce Timm featuring a lost tale from Batman’s past, the Dark Knight tracks a strange giant to the mysterious layer of Dr. Hugo Strange

There's no video released yet, but Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network have shared a handful of stills from the upcoming short film.

Bruce Timm's Batman "Strange Days" will appear on Wednesday, April 9th, right after Teen Titans Go (6:30/5:30C) on Cartoon Network.

FINALLY! A DC animated movie thats unrelated to the shitty new 52's. Thank goodness

Very nice, the seepia colour palette fits brilliantly with the classic nature of this short. If Conroy did the voice, that would be a match made in heaven.

Biggest mistake DC ever made was ending the DCAU. They have never been able to replace it with anything that can last more than a few years, letalone 14 years. Unless they just do NOT want to. But the DCAU was long before Marvel made their shared movie-verse films. & lets be honest, the DCAU is BETTER than the Marvel Movie-Verse.

The DCAU, especially JLU permanantly switched me from a marvel, mostly X-men fan, to a DC fan. I mean, I dont read comics much, but between here & Wikpedia I spend most of my time reading on DC profiles, sometimes I even forget Marvel exists unless they talk about the movies.

the DCAU & JLU always kept you interested because you never knew who would show up, while the first JL seasons just had you wondering which of the 7 would & would not be there.

Looks awesome!!

This is my favorite Batman design. I wish Bruce Timm would have used the JLU design with the coloring of the Gotham Knights TNBAS. I like his original TAS design better because he looked way to big and the proportions threw me off. JLU design nailed it. I wish we'd see the Timm verse style of movies again. A series would be better, but I think a movie has a better possibility. Batman: The Mask of the Phantasm is still my favorite comic book movie- "I didn't count on being happy."

Bruce Timm is King. DC Animation hasn't been very good since he left.

Anyway, I'm so happy to be returning to the Timmverse after so long. It set the standard high on quality story telling.

Bruce Timm!!!

And it will immediately be more popular than Beware the Batman.

I wonder if there's any chance this might lead to a new season of BTAS?

@cobramorph:

Better then the MCU? LMFAO GTFO the DCAU does not compare to the MCU. But it creams any animated thing from Marvel. Marvel only cares about movies and comics they don't take video games or animated stuff seriously. But they destroy when it comes to the movies and comics.

And if I remember correctly Arrow is taking that week off. Even though this is at an earlier time-slot, here's hoping it will sate my weekly need for a DC Comics show on Wednesdays.

Bruce Timm's back?

Is Kevin Conroy voicing bats?

Posted by RavenVice01

@black_claw: I hope kevin does the voice for batman. I just hope this short isn't corny like batman brave and the bold

I'm looking forward to seeing this.

I don't think that they will do it with voices.

If WB doesn't want Bruce Timm outside of shorts anymore because they don't like his vision, then I'm sure another company would love to work with him.

Nice, looking forward to this :)

@captain13: Agree with everything you said. But how can you forget Marvel. There is something about them on Comicvine everyday LOL

What's wrong with Batman: The Brave and The Bold?! It was a great love letter to Sliver Age Batman and to Batman himself.

You're right of course but I was being naively optimistic about the short as one only can :P

Sweet, bruce timm is awesome

Posted by Breadspread

I hope they add this as an extra on the Son of Batman Bluray.

Posted by kilowog52

I couldn't find this in my TV schedule, so I'm guessing that since it's a short, it will just air quickly between two shows. This makes it difficult to record, and I'm not even sure when to tune in. Does anyone have more information?

I love Bruce Timm work I'm excited to see this great way to celebrate Batman.
