Batman Family Death Reaction Covers

This has to be the first time a comic book cover has made me want to cry.

The Nightwing issue is going to be incredibly depressing...

@Fuchsia_Nightingale Batwoman isn't one of the family, and J.H. Williams seems to want to avoid Batwoman tieing into other titles. She's got her own family drama to deal with soon anyway.

Welp... for everybody that wanted someone to die in DOTF here you go (maybe this is why Snyder didn't try and kill anyone). I'm glad that Morrison got to be the one to end his story line since he did create Damian (he wanted to kill him off way earlier but he got popular). My question is there has to be a new Robin in the wings right? I mean there's a book out there called Batman & Robin and I'm pretty sure it's not getting canceled.

Because Tim never liked Damian.

I think it would be so interesting if Helena decided to get vengeance and somehow met Bruce, who then finds out she is his daughter. I think it would make an interesting story line to see how Bruce reacts to having a second child (albeit from an alternate universe), would he allow Helena to continue her vigilante justice or would Damian's death still ring in his head? Would be so interesting if Helena became the next robin.

No for two different reasons. Reason one because I don't think she has what it takes to be a Robin. She lacks the physical capacity to take care of criminals or the deductive mind to look at crime scenes. Secondly because with her computer and electronic skills Snyder has shown, she looks like a far more likely New 52 Oracle than a Robin.

This should have a huge impact, it shouldnt be handled lightly... And yet, since Batman is the most broken character this side of Wolverine, he will probably have an issue of mourning, then in a moment of clarity "overcome it". The character who is already certifiably insane, and obsessive over the death of his parents that happened almost 20 years ago, will overcome the death of his son in a matter of weeks. Sure, Damian will be mentioned, but no more than Jason Todd, likely less...

Assuming of course they dont just bring Damian back an issue or two later.

Anyway, I am extremely unimpressed with the whole scenario. It seems like Death of the Family was PERFECTLY set up to give an extremely grueling and impacting death to a major character, and yet it ended with a whimper. I will pay the most attention to the Nightwing tie in, because not only is he the most interesting BatFamily character, he will probably be the one who shows any emotional vulnerability or real impact.

Edit: I should add, I love the covers.

... Well this is depressing.

This one hits me harder than the others. The one thing I ask, knowing full well what I ask won't matter at all, is if he is dead keep him dead. Make the death matter. Keep it that way. i would want this for any character if they died. If Tim, Dick, Jason, Bruce or Barbara had died, I would want them to be left that way. I feel like every death is an opportunity to create new characters. Not to mention, when someone dies, they leave a legacy, and memories. Something that new characters will be measured against.

Given the relationship between Dick and Damian, that Nightwing cover is powerful!

Batman Incorporated #9's cover is awesome!

The Capullo cover of 18 is my favourite comics cover of anything in recent memory.

Any notice that Tim's basically smiling in the Teen Titans cover?

Have we seen New 52 Lazurus Pits yet? Whenever you have death and an Al'Ghul you cant rule out the LP potential.

I just checked the solicit for Batwoman #18. It says:

• A new story arc begins here as Batwoman adjusts to her new partner and her new role in the war on crime.

• Guest-starring Batman!

So it might be mentioned.

But judging from the cover, it won't just be another death reaction issue:

Aw man dick is going to be devasted cause damien was for alpurposes his little brother and his best friend and his partner when he was batman , but times that pain by 1000000000000000000 and you still don't come close to awful Bruce feels. I know he a fictional character but I do feel pretty bad for Bruce.

Love the color in the Capullo cover. I can also dig the B&R (contrast with another B&R cover) and Bat Inc (very simplistic) ones too.

In RHATO Jason talked about how him & Damian had worked together before(Wingman & Redbird) & Damian was completely fine. I hate how DC has continuity problems cause I'm all confused now.

Capullo's cover has the feeling of someone passing away with beautiful subtlety, whereas Batman Inc. #9 cover gives the grim and dark overtone of sorrow.

As for the replacement, I vote for no-one as the position of Robin should be retired, but that's not going to happen in the DC comic world, so I'll go with Tim, since I think he can contribute more along side with Bruce.

Another thought, I want the death of Damian to hurt and affect Bruce more than anyone's death in the past except for his parents, meaning more than Jason. I think it would make sense, since he "was" his son and plus us readers liked Damian, whereas Jason didn't have much of a fan support from what I recall.

I commented on this earlier but just noticed the other covers uploaded. Nightwing's cover is the most depressing one. Him and Damian were really close. Right in the feels with that.

That World's Finest cover is beautiful and pretty damn sad.

And I actually think the artist managed to make Power Girl's costume look good there.
