Batman and Justice League Movie Speculation

No one says hes batman in the JL movie, just that he will be involved. This is a good step.

I don't think anyone will ever replace Christian Bale, but it does seem like a nice progression and keeping with the Batman movies that the torch was passed to him.

Now that is something interesting. But just because most people want that to happen doesn't mean that is what exactly going to happen anyway.

I like JGL, but I like Bruce Wayne way more. I hope this is a rumor and nothing more.

I wouldn't mind seeing the actor take a stab at Batman. Not as the character from Dark Knight Rises, but as Bruce Wayne.

I think JGL as John Blake/Batman would destroy the Justice League Movie.

Who's the Justice League director? This should be his decision not Warner Bros.'s decision.

And JGL as Batman is a bad idea. He gave up his chance to play Batman when he played John Robin Blake.

Why would they do that? Nolan's Batman should be on it's own.Justice League and any peripheral films should be independent of what Nolan has done, including Man of Steel.

I like your selections for the cast, but to add my worthless note, I would rather see Martian Manhunter than Cyborg unless there was ambition to have both characters in the film.

I open to the idea. Better that DC try something that will be thought out than a rushed product in the JL all of a sudden. The More time they take in tinkering, the better. If they change their mind later, they can (see hulk's different castings).

The Nolan universe version doesn't really seem fit for the world of the Justice League. It always had a reality base to it, and the Justice League at it's very base is fantastical.

They built Gordon-Levitt as a different character in the previous films. Does anyone actually feel they would make a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie with a non-Bruce Wayne Batman? The Chris Evans thing worked because it was a different studio and playing an entirely different franchise.

Yeah--I'm not seeing the Justice League movie if Bruce Wayne isn't in it. That's just silly. Nolan's trilogy is finished--there is no need to drag it out...

JGL is a great actor and all, but I'm hoping for a different actor in the role of Batman. I think Bruce Wayne should be in the Justice League, and an actor who resembles him more.

After seeing Dark Knight rises I actually wouldn't mind JGL as Batman, I've been literally thinking this since I walked out of the movie theater where I saw TDKR. I didn't know what to expect of him in such a serious role, but his acting really surprised me.

I also don't think the "integration" of universes is as serious as people think.I see it like this: In Bruce Wayne's time as Batman, criminals were just highly trained maniacs with gimmicks. But in this new age with Blake as Batman, a few criminals are showing up with superpowers. That way the Nolan trilogy can be the past of the DC Movie Universe and the Justice league could be the future, two separate eras. I really wouldn't dismiss JGL as batman so soon.

The problem with JGL playing Batman is that Chris Nolan has basically disavowed the Justice League, wanting little or nothing to do with it, and since he was in TDKR, sure it bridges continuity, but the Nolan trilogy wasn't meant to be part of something bigger. However because it was so popular, Warner Bros. and DC want to cash in on it and connect it to something that it can't really connect to. I like JGL and all but unfortunately no one from the Nolan series should be in the Justice League movie.

i think Justice League would be a lot better with Joseph Gordon Levitt

Brian Booch said it on the podcast. "If I think I could kick you're ass, you shouldnt be playing Batman."

JGL just doesnt have that vibe needed for Batman. I also think they should leave the Nolan movies alone and not bring them into the Justice League world.

Joseph is an amazing actor but he wouldn't be a believable batman/bruce wayne, he's more of a Nightwing, they should just cast Ryan Gosling or Micheal Fassbender & call it a day.

@whitelantern64: The different castings for Banner was more the result of a reboot and a falling out between Norton and Marvel than tinkering.

While I do quite like Jiggle, and actually think he could make a good Bruce Wayne (especially if they want to make the cast of the movie good and young), I think that having him play Bruce Wayne when he played a different character in a different Batman movie might be a bit confusing. Then again, people might just shrug and say "Yeah, he's the new Batman. Didn't you see the last Dark Knight movie?" and not think about it that hard. I think the odds of them putting JGL in the role of Batman for any future stuff and not having him also be Bruce Wayne are slim. While it would be crazy to have a Batman movie without Bruce Wayne in it, I doubt they'd go for it.

Bruce Wayne should be Batman in the Justice League movie, end of story..if they do make "John Blake" from the Nolan movies Batman then I will be pissed..

I'd want Jim Caviziel as Batman, personally. He can do action really well while at the same time having great range in his acting. I bet this will be the Justice League movie roster, if the movie doesn't explode in on itself and never happen:

- Superman

- Batman

- Wonder Woman

- Flash

- Green Lantern, John Stuart

Anymore than that and I can't help but feel it will be too flaky and vapid. They haven't setup most of the characters (for this universe) so there will either be no character development or it will feel forced.

Also, have we even confirmed a finalized script yet? I think its funny that sources are claiming things are absolutely true when they haven't even finished a script.

lets see... if they make JGL play batman then theyre gonna be doing it to tie in the dark knight universe. So if thats happening were gonna be getting a batman who has (for arguments sake) a Brooklyn accent, and were gonna have a batman that's not Bruce Wayne. Sound kinda dumb? Well yeah lol. If they put JGL in there its not gonna be as batman but as a wink n nod to mention the DK trilogy and nothing more. At least thats what i think haha.

Besides shouldn't the directer choose which actors should play which role? And I've heard no news of a script being finalised, only a JL movie in the works. Idle speculation, that's all.

I think the general audience has pretty much accepted that the Nolan-verse is 1, 2, 3, movies... and that's it. They aren't confused, they aren't expecting more Nolan-verse Batman, etc. When you read or watch these cheesy little 'on the street' questions, the question is never 'Do you EXPECT JGL to be the next Batman?", but "Would you watch JGL as Batman". I don't believe anyone EXPECTS there to be another Nolan-verse film, but generally would be ok if there was.

New Batman would be just fine for a JL movie. My bigger concern is if a JL movie would even work. I'm sorry, but its very hard to make that one work. Heck, have any of you been reading the comic lately? Its hard to even make the comic work to be honest. Copying the Avengers would be a huge mistake. They need to think more along the lines of New Frontier.... DC heroes are not the 'everyday man who becomes great'... DC heroes are the 'gods' among men who help mankind. New Frontier is a great example of understanding that dynamic.

I don't think this is likely since they don't want to confuse people into thinking that the new continuity is connected to the Nolan trilogy. That is if they are doing the total reboot, but keeping JGL for batman. On the other hand, if it does tie into the Nolan trilogy, then we would have a Justice League without Bruce Wayne, which would be not good.

Cool lineup only I'd switch out Hunnam and put Gosling in as the Flash and then use John Hamm as Batman.

I would much prefer him as Nightwing. He's not big enough to be Batman, no offense, but he's absolutely perfect for Nightwing.

Considering how DKR's ended, it seems that Levitt was basically handed the torch to play Batman if that's what it came down to.

Nice list! But I would say that Matt Bomer is better suited to play Green Lantern rather than Flash but the rest of the cast I completely agree on and I love the fact you've put Charlie Hunnam in there too, I think he'd make a good Flash and maybe have Michael Fassbender as a possibility for Batman too.

I think JGL shouldn't play Batman, as it will either result in a name change, confusing the audience who will link him to being John Blake in DKR or they make John Blake a founding member of the JLA and not Bruce Wayne, annoying everyone who has ever read a comic book.

I personally would like to see Martian Manhunter instead of Cyborg as a founding member, but considering the first class we saw in X-Men First Class, we'll probably get Vibe, Plastic Man, The Creeper, Firestorm, Green Lantern (Not the good ones, Baz) and Big Barda (possibly the most random JLA roster ever thought up haha).

I don't know how I should feel about it. I'm not sure if I'm excited about this.

John Blake got taken out by common thugs AND Commissioner Gordon. Just because he got the bat-cave doesn't mean he's qualified to be Batman. He has next to no training.

And I think Superdork meant that Bartman is Bruce Wayne. You can't have JGL play Bruce once he played a different bat character alongside Bruce.

This would have my full support. He's a fantastic actor, and the character is an amalgam of Dick, Jason, and Tim. It makes perfect sense.

I;m not sure I like that. Just because I would want whoever plays Batman in the JLA movie to also play Bruce Wayne. Not sure if the film would ever have time to show him as Bruce Wayne, but wouldn't want Batman to suddenly be revealed to not be Bruce Wayne in the film. Plus Nolan's world was set up so that there were no other heroes, no Supermans. "I don't know if I like this."

I'm not saying he wouldn't do a good job. It just seems weird to me that they would be kick-starting a movie universe with no Bruce Wayne. Instead you would have a Batman who's legal name is..."Robin."

I mean, I could roll with it. If the movie is well-done, it won't matter. But if they really want to retain ties to Nolan's Batman movies, they should just throw a bunch of money at Christian Bale and get him to come back one more time.

How does it make perfect sense? He is a great actor but he is in no way suited to play Bruce Wayne at all. And if WB intended to continue the Nolan Bat films, that would be a huge mistake. Critics and Nolan fanboys would rage about the move and Nolan's films were too gritty and realistic for the fantasy world of Justice League. Besides when people think of a Justice League movie, they think of Bruce Wayne as Batman. Not having Bruce Wayne as Batman would be a major mistake for the JL movie to follow. DC's cinematic universe is supposed to be a reboot of the past and continuing with Nolan's Batman contradicts that. Besides it's an unconfirmed rumour being tossed around with no credibility to it.

How much you want to bet that this is a controlled leak on WB's part? I betcha they're toying with the idea, and they just want to see what the community response is.
