Awesome Toy Picks: Ocean Master (Signature Collection)

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your collection.

Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. This week we're looking at another selection from MattyCollector. This is the October Club Infinite Earths Selection for October. Behold...OCEAN MASTER.

As with the other figures in this line from Mattel, the box has the familiar packaging including some new art with the character's brief history on the back.

The deal with Club Infinite Earths at MattyCollector is if you subscribe, you get a new figure each month. The figures are also available online but you have to be on the ball. They sell out pretty quickly. This figure originally cost $20 but the bigger figures can go a little higher. This figure stands at 6".

This figure isn't an overly detailed figure but he is pretty cool looking.

We're seeing all sorts of action figures these days. Sometimes they can actually have too much detail. This Ocean Master figure is a little streamlined. There's not really a need for tons of detail and they do add more to it in terms of articulation. While I'm not crazy about the stomach articulation, the other articulation, like the ankle ones, gives it an advantage over the DC Collectibles figures. You're able to put them into different positions on different surfaces.

As you can see, the figure also comes with his scepter/power trident, which he can easily hold in one or both hands, thanks to the wrist articulation.

It may look cheesy but what I really like is his mask and face. He's not a happy guy. He's trying to look tough and determined. The fins on his mask are a little absurd but that's his classic look. It's what makes him stand out from the other villains.

Of course, you can also stand this figure next to other ones in your collection.

It is a cool figure. Sometimes the MattyCollector figures can be hit or miss. I never thought I'd dig an Ocean Master figure so much. But there's something nice about the simplicity of the design.

That's it for this week. We'll have another selection for you to look at next time.

@g_man: This is the character I got him mixed up with and he sometimes wears blue so it's easy to get mixed up with. His name is Hordark. I just got into He-Man, so it's kind of hard to remember all the characters names. I was never familiar with them so, since I had a few action figures from my older brother, I thought maybe I should give it a try. The recent He-Man series has turned out pretty good but in the other hand DC Vs He-Man isn't. :-( The only awesome thing was He-Man vs Superman.

Even for a He-Man character looking action figure, he still looks awesome. Lol
