Awesome Toy Picks: Marvel Select 'The Avengers' Iron Man

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your collection.

Each week we pick out a cool comic book collectible and tear it free from the packaging to get a closer look at it. Last week we looked at the Marvel Select Chitauri Footsoldier from The Avengers. This week we're going to look at Iron Man and the man beneath the armor, Tony Stark.

If you're going to have Avengers figures, of course you have to have Iron Man. If you've been collecting Marvel Select figures, chances are you might already have an Iron Man one. This is the Mark VI armor.

As usual, Marvel Select presents the figure in a big package which features art from the movie.

So you can see the back shows Iron Man with his visor down but you have the option of snapping it in either position. Let's find out how this figure stands outside of the packaging.

There is a good amount of detail here. You have two sets of hands which let's him have either fists or opened hands. There are also some movable parts in the armor.

It's hard to decide if he looks better with the visor up or down. And check out the detail on the boots.

The Marvel Select figures tend to be solid figures. It's nice having a figure that can actually stand on its own. There's nothing worse than trying to make a figure stand and the slightest movement causes it fall over. There is a good amount of articulation.

The figure also comes with a stand/background that let's you easily put him on display.

Not bad. I just bought the new Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys and they are pretty awesome! Just recommending it as a review. Each turtle is an individual sculpt! No repainting the same turtle. Also, each turtle differ in height. Check it out! Hopefully, you'll like them as much as I do! :)

Something about his chestplate/shoulder area seems off, like its enlarged. Can he bend? Does he have articulation points near the waist?

Better with facelplate down, face sculp is a bit cheasy

Iron Man tends to have some pretty slick designs on his action figures...but I think the face of Tony is a bit off...

This is actually a repackage and slight repaint of the figure that was released for Iron Man 2. The old one didn't have paint on the eyes of the mask, which looked a bit weird. It's a cool figure, but I kinda wish they had made a new sculpt for the Mark VII armor.
