Awesome Toy Picks: Marvel Select Flash Thompson Venom

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your personal collection.

Each week we like to take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means opening the packaging and taking the item out. This week we're going to look at a Marvel Select figure sold exclusively at The Disney Store - Flash Thompson Venom.

Flash Thompson used to be Peter Parker's greatest enemy and Spider-Man's biggest fan. It was tragic when he lost his legs while showing that he could be the hero he always wanted to be. When the government came in possession of the Venom symbiote, Flash volunteered to become the new Venom.

== TEASER ==

What sets this Venom apart from others is his look and design. He clearly looks more like a soldier. The added spikes was an interesting option but makes him look that much tougher.

The shoulder pad/spikes have a single joint that allows them to move a bit. Having them as separate pieces allows more mobility and keeps it from looking too plain and sculpted. The detail of the pouches and gun holsters is a nice touch as well.

Like most Marvel Select figures, he does come with a base. It's cool but doesn't feel as if it was specifically designed for this figure. It's almost a generic battle scene. It's not as big as some of the past we've seen but the reality is, you're not buying these figures for the backgrounds. It's about the figure. This figure does not need the base and can stand on its own.

It's also cool seeing the tiny detail of where the webbing would come out. Each hand has a tiny hole as if webbing could shoot out at any moment.

The only real problem with this figure is the guns. They don't stay in the hands too well. You can position them so that the trigger finger is on the trigger but it's not a super tight fit. While moving the figure around, the guns fell out a few times. Regardless, it's still really cool looking.

It's both cool and strange that this figure is exclusive to The Disney Store. He's clearly a cooly designed figure. It's one that fans of Flash Thompson and this new version of Venom. There is a good amount of articulation and plenty of detail. As for the retail price, I'd imagine it's around $20. You'll want to try to track this one down.

Huge thanks to The Cyan Lantern for sending this figure to us!!

Wow really nice figure. Thanks for the look.

hoping that they make him in Marvel Universe toy size or Marvel Legends toy size. This figure is so sweet, just little too big. Great review G-Man!

I would buy this in a heart beat (Venom is one my all time favs) but the Disney stores in the UK only sell girls and young childrens toys, i doubt they will stock this. Im going to have to trawl ebay and pay an over inflated price for it T-T

I still think of Spawn every time I see the Flash Venom.

It's online at their website, got mine from there, totally worth it as a fan of Flash as Venom.

looks great

Oh My god that is awesome.

That.... really doesn't look all that great. The articulation points look cheap and wtf is up with his chest being in 2 parts?

Wow I didn't even know they made this. I'd love to get a Flash Venom figure, but I don't really go for the Marvel Select line. Also the Disney store is a bit ridiculous with their pricing, so I'll pass. I hope they make a Marvel Universe or Legends figure of him in the future.

Split between this and the Eddie Brock Venom coming out next month.

Just a FYI for people wondering about the price, I was in a Disney Store yesterday. That particular store didn't have this particular figure, but the other Marvel action figures there were retailing for $24.50 each.

They should make one with tentacles holding weapons.

Posted by iancoderre3

THey should make a Flash THompson Venom video game. A shooter that allows you to turn into Venom! BADASS

The figure looks great, but why would this be a Disney Store exclusive? Couldn't they have found something a little more kid friendly than Venom?

Flash-Venom looks great here!

This looks freaking awesome!

Perhaps I don't know enough about Flash Johnson, but I think the spikes are too much.
