Each week we take a close look at comic book collectibles. What that means is we actually open the package, take them out and see if they're as cool as they look. There's been a bit of Star Wars talk lately with Disney's acquirement of the franchise. What better time to look at some Star Wars LEGO? We have a couple sets coming from both trilogies to look at this week.
There may be those that are not too fond of the second trilogy (containing Episodes I - III). Regardless of the downfalls of those movies, they did flesh out the universe as well as introduce us to many new ones, such as Saesee Tiin and Even Piell, a couple of Jedis.
The first set we'll look at is SAESEE TIIN'S JEDI STARFIGHTER.
You can see it contains 244 pieces.
It shouldn't take too long to build. You get two Jedi figures plus a droid.
The starfighter has a sleek design. The wings on the side move up and down and the cockpit is removable. You'll also the notice the Jedi figures come in different sizes to account for Piell's shorter stature.
As with most LEGO sets, it's the small details that make each set shine. It's always amazing how the nature of LEGO means figures and ships won't have minute details yet they alway manage to cram in so much.
You can adjust the landing pads and there's a spot you can snap in Saesee's lightsaber while he's piloting the ship.
LEGO sets come in all sizes. Even the smaller sets contain really cool designs. I thought we'd look at a second and smaller Star Wars set to go with this one.
The ENDOR REBEL TROOPER & IMPERIAL TROOPER BATTLE SET only has 77 pieces but it also includes four figures.
LEGO makes sure to make something for everyone. It's great seeing new sets from both trilogies on sale. It is a little odd seeing Darth Maul on the box for a set from the original trilogy but that's okay.
The imperial troopers you get here include a Stormtrooper and a Scout Trooper.
Stormtroopers always get a bum rap but they're just doing their job, right? Then the Rebels come along and try to stop them from doing their jobs and just trying to make a living.
The speeder bike has such a simple design. Almost as if it was made to be LEGO-ized.
Just imagine, these troopers are out, minding their own business when things are about to get ugly.
Maybe it's because the Stormtroopers were too nice they lost the battle.
You have to love the LEGO sets. Not only do you get some great collectible sets but you get the joy in building them as well. How someone designs the different sets always blows me away.
