It's been a little while since we've looked at any Lego. Lego has been branching out and making more sets based on licensed characters. With the excitement over The Hobbit and the recent news to expand the movie from two to three, it seemed this was the perfect time to look at some of The Lord of the Rings Lego sets.
As you're aware, Lego sets can sometimes get a little pricey. So instead of looking at one of the bigger sets, how about looking at a couple of the smaller and more affordable ones. This way, we can see how they are and then decide whether to plunge into a bigger set.
== TEASER ==What Lord of the Rings fan wouldn't want a Lego Gandalf? This smaller set only has 83 pieces and will cost you around $12. The smaller number of pieces means you'll be able to put this together in no time.
That doesn't mean it's not a cool set. Check out what it looks like.
The other set we'll take a look at is the Shelob Attacks set.
This set contains 227 pieces and will cost you about $20. As you can see, you'll get Frodo, Sam and Gollum. There's also the One Ring (and to be fair, there's even two extras contained in the extra pieces).
What's cool about this set is the webbing/string actually is hooked into a gear on the bottom of Shelob that allows you to lock in how much string/web you want exposed. So you can hang Shelob wherever you want.
Gollum even comes with a fish.
That's it for this week. What are your thoughts on these selections? Have you picked up any of the other sets? Be sure to check out the next installment of Awesome Toy Picks.
