Awesome Toy Picks: LEGO Ghostbusters

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your collection.

Each week we take a close look at a cool comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. It's been...maybe a couple weeks since we've looked at a LEGO set. We've had a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy selections but now it's time to take a look in another direction. Check out the LEGO Ghostbusters set.

You might have to do a little searching for this set. I bought it online at the retail price. Try to avoid the marked up prices, if you can. When this set was unveiled at New York Toy Fair back in February, a lot have been eagerly anticipating this set. It only has 508 pieces but getting these figures and their car is pretty cool.

One thing to note, this set doesn't have the pieces sorted into different numbered bags. They are in different bags but you're kind of stuck just opening them all. And of course the key is sorting the pieces out. With these non-numbered bag sets, it takes a while but it is worth it.

This is a set that is practically made for display purposes. The figures have a base they can all stand on. With their proton packs, they are a little top heavy so the stand is a good idea.

It's hard to decide which is cooler, the figures or Ecto-1.

LEGO vehicles are sometimes hit or miss. This is really cool. There's a lot going on and the design is pretty much perfect.

One thing my daughter asked right away was about the doors. There aren't any. That doesn't mean you can't put the guys inside. There is some detail in there and you can easily take the roof off to put them in there.

Getting three figures inside is pretty tight, but it works. You have to take off the backpacks. The fourth passenger can either lay down in the back or just hang on the ladder on the side.

As for the figures, you can see the detail given to them. They are equipped and ready to bust some ghosts.

Of course these guys have a second face on them. They may not be "afraid of no ghosts" but even the bravest of the brave can sometimes get startled.

You can see they do even have a ghost trap should they capture any LEGO ghosts.

That's it for this week. What did you think of this selection? Do you have this set or are you planning on getting it? We'll be back next time with another selection.

Also, first.

Cool, a Lego Ernie Hudson. He voiced Cyborg in the Super Friends cartoon. I hope we can get a Lego Cyborg set someday.

A really good set, shame it is ridiculously hard to find in Ireland. Also it is a shame it doesn't come with a ghost to catch

That's a cool Lego set. I'd assume since it's a 500 piece set that the car is pretty solid.

I NEED this set. The look of the minifigs are perfect, as well as the vehicle itself. Doors would've been nice it doesn't affect the set as a whole. And MUCH better than the BTTF set.

I marked out big time when I saw this. I'll have to pick up one ASAP.

I agree. The BTTF set looked plain. Needed some scratch marks or some kind of detail. I have the Ghostbuster on my work desk. B) I almost got a Stay Puft Funko for them to battle.
