Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. Around this time of year, people are often looking for gift items for others or even themselves. This week's item is another great figure most comic book fans would love to have. DC Comics Super-Villains - Deathstroke action figure.
This is in the same scale to the other New 52 figures DC Collectibles has put out. The figure stands about 6" and was sculpted by Jean St. Jean. Check out Deathstroke's New 52 look.
As in the comics, Deathstroke appeared with a more armored look. This figure reflects that and has a nice solid look and feel. There's a great amount of detail in the sculpting. His shoulder pads move and the scaled armor adds more as well. Take a look at his belt.
What's really cool about all the accessories on his belt is some of them move a little. You can see the pouches on both sides. This is nice and adds more dimension to the look rather than having a static single molded look.
You can also see that he has a gun on his left side and a knife on his right.
Now look at his boots.
The little spikes just adds to his butt-kicking look.
Besides the gun and knife, Deathstroke also comes with a sword. The sword fits into a little peg on his back.
You don't always see a lot of detail on the back of figures. This one has a lot going on. There's more hanging off his belt.
You can put his weapons in his hands. His head also has a great look. There's not a lot of detail needed on his head but with the color and design, it looks really cool. The sword pops off very easily. That's good and bad. You can take it off quickly if you want to put it in his hand. But if pretty much just bump it, it'll come right off.
This is a figure you'll definitely want to take out of the package. When I first took him out of the package, I thought his stance was a little stiff. The nice thing about the articulation at the ankles is you can bend the legs a little to give him more of an action pose.
The armored look might be a bit much. It was a little strange in the beginning, especially if you were very familiar with his old look. While his old look is pretty classic, I guess you could say it's not as practical. And what can you really say about his old boots?
If you haven't seen this figure at your local comic shop, you can order it directly from DC Collectibles on their website. You can click HERE if interested. It retails for $24.95, which is the same as the other figures in the line.
That's it for this week. We will have yet another item spotlighted next time.
