Awesome Toy Picks: Creeper and Green Lantern Batman

A selection of new and old action figures you should add to your collection.

Each week we take a look at cool action figures you can find on store shelves along with some from the past you might already own or have to search for online.

The Creeper is a character that has had a couple different versions with his origin. While he hasn't exactly made a full appearance in DC's 'The New 52,' you probably noticed his alter ego, Jack Ryder in Batman: Arkham City. Either way, with his bright colors and distinct look, he makes a pretty cool looking action figure.

This version of Creeper comes from the DC Universe Classics line (wave 16) and can still be found in stores or online. This is a figure where that weird-looking stomach articulation actually serves a purpose. When I picture Creeper, I usually envision him in more of a crouching position. With the other numerous points of articulation, you can put him in different positions.

The other surprising thing, his...boa/cape thing he wears doesn't affect his standing ability. My biggest fear when buying him was there would be no way he could stand without falling backwards. The plastic for that part is actually a little lighter but still solid material. You can even see in the pictures below that his open-handed grips allow him to hang and he isn't too heavy to stay like that.

Check him out in action.

As for our figure from the past, here's one that I somehow hadn't seen before. It seems fitting since we posted a video on Catwoman as a Green Lantern. It turns out, there was a Batman as a Green Lantern figure from the Green Lantern Series 3 from DC Direct.

One of our new video producers, Thomas, brought this in and had it by his work area. I felt it definitely needed to be spotlighted. Even though he doesn't look exactly the same, it immediately made me think of the 1993, BATMAN: IN DARKEST KNIGHT Elseworld story.

This ultra-cool looking figure isn't going to be easy to find. Believe me, I've looked. I'd love to have one for myself. There are a couple on ebay with some pretty high prices attached.

Check out the pictures below to see the coolness oozing off of him.

That's it for this week. Good luck hunting. Be sure to check out our next installment to see what figures get the spotlight next week.

Haha, nice Green lantern bats!

okay picks this week, both look nice, but I guess I just enjoy when you incorporate non-featured figures, you know? But I do enjoy this post series a lot.

@GothamRed: Could you elaborate? What do you mean by 'non-featured'? We're always looking for feedback obviously.

@G-Man:

I would`ve wanted them both do something funny, but now that wasn`t the case. I hope I don`t sound needy.

Still, pretty nice.

Is it a bit wrong that I find that Creeper figure a little, um, scary?

Guy Gardener is no longer safe anywhere

That Green Lantern Batman was awesome

I never noticed until now how much the Creeper looks like a burlesque Joker with jaundice

So… after mentioning the weird stomach on creeper and how it can be used for weird poses, he's in pretty normal poses (aside from the wide hipped stance). Norm I am disappoint (I just assume Norm took the photos and staged them).

I think they put out that Batman figure a little after GL Rebirth. There was a scene early on in Johns' GL run in which Hal lets Bruce try to use the ring and that's what he looks like when he does.

That Green Lantern Batman is one of my all-time favorites, and one of the very last Batman figures I'm looking to acquire (paying the sometimes $100 asking price is hard to stomach).

GL Batman rocks!

Creeper is cool but that GL Batman is AWESOME!!!

I dig that Creeper figure, because I am a fan of that character & also cause I own that very figure. The Green Lantern Batman is a figure I have always wanted, but could never find for a reasonable price, but overall stellar figures this week.

Batman looks awesome. Creeper looks okay. I don't like that it looks like the designer simply took a joker head and painted the face yellow. But then again, Creeper does look like he has a troll face.

It's pretty sucky that Batman figure is so over-priced online. Someday I will find one for myself!

I do love the Creeper. I remember him from the animated series.

Where's Russian Martian Batman?

Has it ever been explained why Hal was chosen for the Ring over Bruce? It just seems like Willpower is a part of Batman even more so than Hal.

That Creeper action figure looks AWESOME! :D

I kinda want that Batman one. Although, a Sinestro Corps Batman would be even better.

Hahaha, I just love these sort of posts XD

Creeper does look awesome here!

creeper looks more like the joker.

I'm pretty amazed that the Creeper one was able to support its own weight and grab on to something. I have a love hate relationship with the GL Batman, since that only happened for one page essentially (I think). Its a cool premise but I'd need more than one page to win me over.

love creeper over green lantern Batman, though his face is a little off :/

Cause Bruce can't overcome his great fear of being alone, that is why when he puts the ring on his fears overwhelm him. Not knocking the bat but you gotta be able to overcome your fears to be part of the Corp.

I've seen him mope because he's alone a couple times and it's like you have two wards who are like sons, a butler who is basically your dad, Babs and Commish who are good daughter and best friend stand-ins, and an ACTUAL son. Don't get me started on the ladies. I think his fear is that he'll never be alone lol. Thank you for posting though. I've wondered that for a while now.
