Awesome Toy Picks: Batusi TV Batman and Barbie Catwoman

Some cool collectibles you'll want to add to your collection.

Every week we like to take a close look at comic book collectibles to see how cool they are. That means (gasp!) opening up the package. Last week we didn't have an actual installment because of San Diego Comic-Con but we did get some great looking items to take a look at.

Batman '66 is making a big comeback. Hopefully you've been reading the comic by Jeff Parker and Mattel has a new line of figures on the way. The first item we'll look at is the Batusi TV Batman.

You may have already checked out the video at the top of the page. This is a great item. First of all, it has an amazing box. The artwork is pretty groovy on the front and the back.

That's not all in terms of the boxing. Once you open this box, you'll find there is another box inside...in the shape of a television set!

Both boxes has really cool art all around.

The biggest challenge will be in trying to decide if you want to remove this figure from the inner package. You probably noticed there is a 'try me' button on the back. This makes Batman actually do his famous dance.

If you watched the video above, you saw there is a button on the TV box to make it play music. If you shake the box, you make the other couple appear to dance besides Batman.

You can barely see it but on his belt, there's a light Bat-symbol which adds a nice little touch.

This definitely something you'll want to try to get your hands on. It originally sold $30 at MattyCollector. It's likely you'll be able to find one on eBay if you weren't able to attend SDCC and get one there.

Another item in the Batman '66 line is actually...a Barbie doll.

I'll admit, I never thought I'd be featuring a Barbie doll here. But if you look at it, how could I not?

As with the Batusi figure, it has a pretty cool box that will make you think twice about opening it.

It's also cool that they went with the classic Barbie look instead of the more modern one.

The doll comes with a certificate as it's part of the collector line.

It is a Barbie doll so it has cloth and plastic clothing. The little details in the accessory make it pretty cool as well. It also comes with a stand so if you do decide to remove her from the box, you can easily make her stand.

Her mask also comes off should you decide to remove it. The only real problem is her gloves look a little weird.

If you're a fan of Batman or Batman '66, you'll want to try to track these down. Even my daughter (who isn't really into Barbies) thought this Catwoman figure is cool (it's going to join her Monster High dolls).

Let us know what you thought of these. We'll be back with another spotlight next time.

Ehh...funny 60's music tune with Batman dancing but besides that I don't see what's special about getting it. How much did that Batsui costed you @g_man? Also, I'm assuming this is your first Barbie doll that not even for your daughter awwwww. lol

@g_man: whoops I somehow skipped as I was scrolling down. Damn $30 just for that? I definitely wouldn't buy it. Because to me it just a regular Batman 66 figure in a music toy dancing box.

I love when they have fun with the SDCC exclusives. Bizarre variants like Batusi Batman are not essential, and therefore won't ruin anyone's collection who can't pick them up, but at the same time they are distinct and terrific show pieces for those who can get their hands on one. The Deadpool Corps packaged in tacos inside of a taco truck is another great, fun exclusive this year.

I like the Catwoman Barbie. I bought my girlfriend a Harley Quinn several years back.

Every week you tell us about new toy picks. Where can I buy them? I've looked all over the Internet and I can't find anything about where I can buy them.

@supernategames: I pretty much always mention where. I linked to MattyCollector but they are sold out there. I also mentioned you'll likely have to get this on eBay. It's in the article.

The aesthetic of the 60’s TV show and Barbie goes really well together and they really make it pop with the box art.

Barbiecollector.com has their most recent dolls. I looked, and they currently have both dolls.

Thanks, must've missed that part of the article. So people can only buy this online, they don't sell it at stores?

Man...the 60's were a different time for Batman. A station on regular TV plays episodes of the old show sometimes, but it hasn't aged well at all like most 60's shows, Original Star Trek included.

ha ha this particular piece is fun. Although I did watch this series when I was young (no im not from 60s but watched some 100th repeat season outside of US), I may not really want to have this. Although this video gave me some old memories and a smile:):):)

Thanks for the article GMan. I liked all the awesome pics (catwoman) and the video too. however I would have liked it better if you put that cam on a table or tripod maybe. It shakes too much and goes in and out of focus a lot. But hey overall I enjoyed watching.

Holy Julie Newmar Batman! That's a lot of arm articulation for a stupid dance move.
