Awesome Art Picks: X-Men, Batman, Vampirella, and More

The coolest comic book art you won't see in comics.

Each week we search high and low for the coolest comic book art that you won't see in actual comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Chris Samnee did an X-MEN cover for the Hero's Initiative. He also posted some sketches from Wizard World St. Louis and C2E2 on his blog.

Mike Henderson posted a few sketches on his Instagram page.

Tony Daniel did this Vampirella commission and posted it on his Facebook page.

Clay Mann posted a couple pieces from New York Special Edition on his Tumblr.

Paolo Rivera posted a couple commissions from earlier this year on his blog.

We saw Mike Deodato's sketch of the Thing last week. He posted a colored version (by Lunyo) on his Tumblr.

Philip Tan posted some more sketches on his Facebook page.

Chris Giarrusso has a couple sketches up for sale on his website.

Mike McKone posted this Magik sketch on his Twitter page.

Ryan Stegman posted some commissions and sketches on his Tumblr. The Spider-Man sketch was colored by Brian Reber.

Joel Gomez posted a Clayface commission from Phoenix on his Tumblr.

Reilly Brown posted a Wiccan sketch from Motor City and Captain America from New York on his Tumblr.

Dan Parent posted some sketches from Wzard World Philadelphia on his Facebook page.

Yildiray Cinar posted a few sketches on his Instagram page.

Marcio Takara is at Heroes Con and posted some commissions on his Tumblr and Twitter page.

Ryan Ottley posted some sketches from Denver Comic Con on his Tumblr.

Francesco Francavilla is at Heroes Con but posted these sketches from New York Special Edition on his Tumblr.

Daniel HDR posted this Talon pic on his Facebook page.

Agnes Garbowska posted this Poison Ivy painting on her Tumblr.

Peter Nguyen posted a Darkstar sketch on his Tumblr and plans on coloring it later.

Mahmud Asrar posted some pre-show commissions from New York on his Tumblr.

Kris Anka is at Heroes Con and posted this pre-show sketch on his Tumblr.

Todd Nauck posted this X-MEN cover on his Tumblr before. It's for the Hero Initiative and is currently up for bid on eBay.

That's it for this week. With so many conventions going on this weekend, we should be seeing another batch of great art next time.

I've been enjoying all the Ryan Ottley sketches week to week. The Clay Mann Daredevil and Doctor pieces are the real eye candy this week though.

Lots of great art on this one. I love Mann's Daredevil, that is an awesome, beautiful piece. I'd put that thing in a frame on my wall like a masterpiece. I loved everything by Francavilla, as always- especially Swamp Thing and Dr. Strange. Philip Tan always amazes me- I loved his Cable, and Samnee's Cable was awesome as well. Anka's Winter Soldier piece is intense- always great to see new Winter Soldier art. Takara's Hawkeye & Kate Bishop sketch is also pretty sweet. Paolo Rivera consistently proves he's one of the best artists in the biz- his Wolverine recreation captures all the essence and awesomeness of the original. I'd frame this too. And I also like Reilly Brown's Cap sketch, always good to see some great Cap art, too. Those are just some of the highlights for me.

I hate to say this, but I find myself just scanning through the art super fast and giving up these days...I think you're including too much of it. Cutting it down to the very best would catch my attention more than a glut of stuff.

The White Witch! Cool, she's one of my favorite LOSH characters!

Marcio Takara is the greatest, look at those beauties <3
