Awesome Art Picks: Supergirl, Wolverine, Hulk and More

The coolest comic book art you won't see in comics.

Each week we search for the coolest comic art that you won't see in comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their blogs, websites and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites.

Here's one I meant to post last week. Dennis Calero posted this Wolverine commission on his Twitter page.

Paolo Rivera posted this great Fantastic Four piece he did back in 2007 on his blog. He also posted his contribution to the Cartoon Art Professional Society auction for Stan Sakai. It should be up for auction soon.

Rod Reis posted an old Batman pic he did using oil pastels on his Tumblr.

Yildiray Cinar posted some more sketches on his Tumblr. Check out the sketch he did at an airport, his Hellboy warm up, the penciled splash page for SUPERGIRL #27 (you can see the full preview HERE) and a Red Lantern Supergirl pic.

Chris Giarrusso posted some more art on his website. Some of them are available for purchase so check it out.

Check out the commission Marco Rudy posted on his Facebook page.

Tom Raney posted this Black Bolt sketch on his Twitter page.

Brett Booth usually posts a new sketch each week on his blog. This time it's Dark Phoenix.

There's still some DC characters we're waiting to see in the New 52. Gene Gonzales posted this punk Donna Troy sketch on his blog.

Dustin Nguyen posted this Batman sketch on his Tumblr. Imagine Batman actually calling someone "Sucka."

Joel Gomez posted some new sketches on his Tumblr this week. Mister Miracle is a commission for Amazing Arizona ComicCon.

Marcio Takara posted some new sketches in different stages on his Tumblr. He'll post the finished sketches later.

Here's a Wolverine sketch Daniel HDR posted on his Tumblr.

Skottie Young posted some more Daily Sketches on his Tumblr. He usually puts them up for sale in his online store as well.

J. Scott Campbell posted this Black Canary sketch he did a few years ago on his Instagram. It was part of a large jam piece that other artists added to. Too bad we can't see the final product.

It was announced that Todd Nauck will be the artist on an upcoming NIGHTCRAWLER series (written by Chris Claremont). Check out his Nightcrawler and Hulk he posted on his Tumblr.

We're still waiting for Ryan Stegman's WOLVERINE series. He posted some sketched version of his art on his Tumblr.

Francis Manapul, once again posted a big process post on his Tumblr for the cover to DETECTIVE COMICS #30.

That's it for this week. Be sure to look for the next installment.

Really liking Takara's stuff this week.

It is particularly "MMPH" worthy this time around, isn't it?

Why are wolverine's claws coming out of his forearms?

Manapul, amazing.

Manapul wins this week! Running out of blogs to follow, doesn't matter because it's becoming very difficult to keep up with all of them. Great picks this week.

I love Paolo Rivera's Fantastic Four. His blog is also great. He recently did a 3-part inking tutorial with, around, hour long videos for each part. Check it out!

That Manapul cover!

@theshadowheart91: They say it will be answered in the series.

They also look more like gauntlets with them on it. Most of his Origin stories seem to play with the idea that he use the old claw style Japanese fighting weapon, that is until the next Origin story said he has always had bone claws.

Stegmans Wolverine o_O!! That Manapul Batman is beautiful.

Question: If Todd Nauck's doing Nightcrawler is he leaving Invincible Universe?!

Posted by Lykida

Skottie Young's Venom is awesome!

Also, I'm feeling for that poor pigeon on the Manapul cover!

Posted by longbowhunter

Never been a fan of J Scott Campbell but he does do a great Black Canary.

This week's assortment of great art by the highly talented comic artists killed it. W..O..W.

As usual Manapul gives us gold. I also really like that Nightcrawler by Nauck.

Love the FF beach pic and Manapul's Batman.

Ryan Stegman on a Wolverine book might convince me to actually read it.

Posted by jollyart

Jollyart on facebook has some heroes on it

Posted by fallbrigade

Red Lantern Super Girl looks like she has a beard going on lol.

Francis Manapul's Detective cover...oh gawd, I can't wait!

Posted by iceslick

@theshadowheart91: I'm assuming those aren't his real claws from his hands because he lost his healing factor. So he probably attached some claw gauntlets so he won't have to pull out his real claws that causes him to bleed all the time.

Glad Im not the only one thinking this

Paolo Rivera's Fantastic Four is riveting.

Also, if I had the opportunity I would buy that FF in a heart beat
