Awesome Art Picks: Skeletor, Batman, Wolverine and More

The coolest comic book art you won't see in comics.

Get ready to feast your eyes on some of the best comic book art you'll see that won't appear in actual comic books. The reason is many artists do sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, Tumblrs, Twitter pages and more. Some of them even arrange or sell sketches on their sites so be sure to check them out.

Did you read Dustin Nguyen's BATMAN: LI'L GOTHAM this week? The second issue dealing with Thanksgiving went on sale for just $0.99 on comiXology and the DC Comics app. Go get it and the first, Halloween issue, if you haven't already. If you need another reason, here's a sketch of Damian Dustin posted on his Tumblr giving you five reason to get it.

== TEASER ==

Skottie Young often does Daily Sketches and them puts them up for sale on his site. Check out what he did this week.

Mike McKone posted a couple commissions on his TwitPic page of Hope Summers and the Enchantress.

Cameron Stewart posted a bunch of "doodles" on his Instagram that will probably tick you off since they're so good and he makes it look so easy.

Daniel HDR posted some commissions on his Tumblr. Check out his Kaine and Ben Reilly. I can't remember if they gave a reason why he tore off the hood of the hoodie along with the sleeves when he made his costume.

Marcio Takara posted a bunch of his "tiny" versions of different characters on his Tumblr. Can you name them all?

Philip Tan posted some more commissions on his Facebook page. Always great to see.

Denis Medri posted this cool video giving us a look at drawing the Hobit on his Deviant Art page. Cool stuff.

Joel Gomez posted some more of his UpperDeck/Marvel Premier Sketch Cards on his Tumblr along with a really cool Skeletor, colored by Beth Sotelo.

Adam Kubert posted a classic sketch of Gambit over at his Tumblr.

Chris Giarrusso posted another sketch cover with Captain America on his site this week along with a Spider-Man and Spider-Woman sketch he did at ComicCon-Way last weekend.

Todd Nauck is now posting some of his sketches only on his Instagram page as well as some on his Tumblr. "Boba Fett? Where?"

Each week Brett Booth posts (at least one) sketch on his blog and this last week it was Grifter.

You should be familiar with Michael Walsh, who has appeared here pretty much every week. He posted this cool Doop sketch on his Tumblr. If you want to see more from Michael, be sure to pick up COMEBACK from Image Comics this coming week. You can see some preview pages and an interview with writer Ed Brisson HERE.

As we await the finale of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and the beginning of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN, Ryan Stegman is already underway on the new series. Even though this is the cover to SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #3, he posted the sketch version (along with the colored version) on his Tumblr.

That's it for this week. Be sure to check out the artists' pages if you want to see more from them. Hopefully with the shorter work week for many, we'll still get plenty of new great art next week as well.

Loved it this week!

All of them were great but my favourite's are Brett Booth's Grifter, Daniel HDR's Scarlet Spider commission ( which was absoloutely AMAZING!), and Todd Nauck's Wonder Girl and Joker. and that Superior Spiderman cover is just brilliant!

Cameron Stewart's Batvillains are incredible.

Great art, but...

Where is Nightcrawler's nose?

Posted by iaconpoint

I love the kiddie ones since they really seem to make some people on here angry for some reason.

And G-Man-Super-G-Man, Ben only cut off the arms, not the hoodie. He just never pulled the hood up. I can't remember the reason he tore the arms off either.

Superior Spider-Man looks a hell of a lot like Spider-Man Noir

Posted by Jonny_Anonymous

@iaconpoint: Tombstone ripped the hood off of Ben's top when they where fighting on top of a runaway armoured car

WOW!!! What an INCREDIBLE week for the Art Picks. I especially love the Skottie Young stuff! He SOOOO needs to hook up with someone (Giffen/Grant, you listening?) on a Lobo book!!!

Here's an AWESOME one by Tom Fowler =D

LOL @Skeletor

Posted by Fetts

I'm lovin that Boba Fett :)

Posted by ClintsEvilTwin

Why is Skeletor riding a milk cow?

I like it but I'm a little confused

Posted by Trodorne

@ClintsEvilTwin: Skeletor does not need a reason, more than likely he stole it.

I've been really digging Skottie Young's stuff lately, thanks for posting!

Posted by iaconpoint

@Jonny_Anonymous: My bad. I didn't remember that. But it's been a good long while since I've read Ben's adventures.

Cameron FTW!! I love how he's drawing the bat-villians!

That second Scottie Young gives me a complete Rayman: Origins vibe.

Posted by EvanTheMexiJew

All the Bat-Villians are awesome plus anything HDR and Philip Tan do.

Yeah Skeletor on a cow pretty much wins the award for WTF? Funny stuff.

Posted by Grey56

Where get da noodle cape ? Oh, and Tan's Wolverine is sharp as any depiction I've seen since Bachalo's cover to X-Men # 8 from the second series.

I can't pick among the pictures so I'll just say that video regarding The Hobbit by Medri was pretty darn great!

Yes! We need more pics of Scarlet Spider every week! And he obviously tore off the sleeves to look more badass! (duhh) lol
