We all love comic art, right? Each week we scour the internet looking for the coolest comic book art that won't actually appear in comics. The reason we won't see them is artists often share sketches on their blogs or posts commissions they do for fans. It's the week following New York Comic Con. Usually after major cons sometimes we see a lot of art pop up from commissions but at the same time, the artists need to take a well deserved break.
Let's begin with a commission of one of my favorite new villains that popped up in Scott Snyder's run on DETECTIVE COMICS, James Gordon Jr by Francesco Francavilla.
We got to see a glimpse of James Jr in last month's BATMAN #1. Let's hope we get to see him again soon.
== TEASER ==Did you hear that Francesco is also going to be doing CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BUCKY? Here's a little teaser he posted on his blog.
You might have heard about a little video game that came out this week called 'Batman: Arkham City.' Peter Nguyen posted this picture of...shall we call her "classic" Harley Quinn? It was a commission from NYCC.
More Batman? How about this sweet "Gotham Nights" by Peter Krause posted on his Twitter.
Why don't we continue the Bat-theme? Here's that bratty lovable Robin, Damian Wayne by Joel Gomez on his Tumblr. Let's hope I'm wrong about Damian not being Robin much longer.
Here's another from Joel. Check out this really cool Terry "Batman Beyond" McGinnis and Ace, the Bat-hound.
Okay, one more Batman-related pic. Here's Red Robin and Wiccan (from Young Avengers) Marcus To posted on his Tumblr.
Here's a couple commissions of Wolverine and Daredevil from Paolo Rivera. If these don't make you want to get your rear to a convention to get some commissions, I don't know what will.
Gabriel Hardman posted this sweet commission of Thanos. We definitely need more Thanos in our lives.
We all know Miles Morales is cool. He's shaping up to be a great successor to the Ultimate Spider-Man mantle. Check out this first attempt Chris Samnee posted on his Twitter. Don't be angry, Miles. We all love you.
Speaking of Ultimate Spider-Man, here's a sketch of Siryn (or Banshee, whatever she's calling herself these days) Sara Pichelli did for the 1st Annual Charity Art Auction at NYCC.
Zombies are still cool, right? With the final return The Walking Dead on AMC, here's some zombie art posted at Comic Twart. Basically what happens there is a character or theme is chosen and artists step up to give their interpretation.
Here's one by Rev. Dave Johnson.
Dan McDaid did this one with a sort of familiar 'character.'
And here is one by Mike Hawthorne.
More brains, indeed.
That wraps up this week's Awesome Art picks. Be sure to check out the next installment for more cool art.
