Awesome Art Picks: Gambit, X-23, Batman and More

The coolest comic book art you own't see in comics.

Each week we gather up the greatest comic book art that you will never actually see in comics. The reason you won't is because artists often do sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their blogs, Tumblrs and websites. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Chris Samnee posted a few more new sketches on his blog. He's also selling some small "doodles" beginning December 14 at 9 am Central.

Philip Tan posted a couple new sketches on his Facebook.

Paolo Rivera posted some sketch covers he did back in July on his blog. The Punisher sketch was drawn by Ariel Olivetti and Paolo watercolored over the ink drawing.

Michael Walsh posted this sketch of MODOK on hist Tumblr.

Mike Deodato posted a Rorschach sketch on his Tumblr this week.

Phil Hester posted a SIXTH GUN commission on his Twitter page.

Chris Giarrusso posted some new sketches on his website. They are sometimes up for sale (the Deadpool pic is already sold).

Here's an X-23 commission Peter Nguyen did that the_kza was nice enough to share. Peter also posted his version on his Tumblr of the new Bat-character designed by Dustin Nguyen, seen in the news this week.

Ryan Stegman posted a Spider-Man and Mary Jane commission on his Tumblr.

Yildiray Cinar posted a Batgirl sketch on his Instagram page.

Mike McKone posted a few new sketches on his Twitter page.

Marcio Takara's commission list is closing on December 15. That's like right now. Check out the latest sketches he posted on his Tumblr. The Buffy sketch still needs to be inked but it's cool seeing is pencils.

Brett Booth posted another new sketch on his blog.

Skottie Young posted some more Daily Sketches on his Tumblr. They usually go up for sale right away. He does have some other art available for purchase HERE.

Robert Atkins posted a Baroness commission on his blog.

Joel Gomez posted some more sketch cards from the Marvel/UpperDeck series on his Tumblr.

Tom Raney posted this Batman and Deadman sketch on his Twitter page. It's up for auction to benefit Toys for Tots. Depending on when you read this, there's still some time left to bid on it HERE.

Todd Nauck has posted several new colored sketches on his Tumblr. Some of these came out late last week but I decided to save some of those for this week.

That's it for this week. As we approach the holiday season, let's hope we'll continue to see really great art popping up.

These are all really nice, but I think my favorite has to be that Brett Booth Flash sketch.

Question: Is that second sketch by Phillip Tan the Iron Man foe/ally Guardsman?

My god, I love pretty much everything Scottie Young ever does! And I always appreciate any Battle of the Planets fan art :)

Also, seeing Deadman in that Tom Raney sketch reminded me of a cool "realistic" Deadman picture I saw yesterday. What do you guys think?:

That new bat character looks like shes holding an eskrima stick.

And that Flash looks Amazing!

i swear if Harper Row is Dick Grayson replacement i will lose all hope for DC, its just not right. What gives her the right to take Dick's spot? yeah i'll get drilled by people who say "change is good," but at what point do ask if the change is actually worth it. I guess that's what we get when complain about her being Robin.

Skottie Young is always a win. And that fastball special is so absurdly hilarious. I love it.

That Flash is the best work I've ever seen from Brett Booth, amazing.

Todd Nauck gets my vote just for drawing Princess from Battle of the Planets ( G Force).

The lack of Fiffe is disturbing:

Again, we still don't know if she is Nightwing. But if she is, as to what gives her the right, we don't know yet. Remember, her first issue will be taking place in the near future, so we may not learn what gives her the right yet if she is Nightwing. We just have to wait and see how she does in Batman #28 and then see how it comes to be in the later months.

Todd Nauck needs to worl on an X title

It's Nightwing. Peter Nguyen drew her with an escrisma stick. This proves the rumors correct. Nightwing is gonna lose his identity or die.

I see a lot that I like this week. Yidray Cinrar's drawing of Barbara is definitely my favorite. Followed by The Punisher as Captain America -- kind of a horrifying thought, but creative. McKone and Samee and Takara were Great. Harley vs Laura is a fight I'd like to see. Loved Todd Nuack's X - Men. Raney's sketch was excellent. I'd love to read something drawn by Gomez. And Minion Christmas Tree, nuff said.

@danial79:

Yeah that's definitely "DC Movie Universe" quality, right there! And was that Dazzler under Luke Cage? If so, I love that new costume!

RIP Baby Girl. So shocked and hope there is some resolution that I am ok with in Uncanny Avengers 15. Sooo upset right now!

I've loved Chris Samnee's art ever since I read Thor: The Mighty Avenger. It's more cartoony and he makes characters all his own with a unique style.

This one from Mike McKone is my favorite of the lot, though:
